i dont know anything about isthar or any pagan religion being replaced with easter. how ever for the records i would like to stat some facts.

the festival celebrated during this period originated from the feast of passover which is popular among the jews. the first passover was the exit of the israelites from egypt. God told them to be celebrating this every year and the month will be the first month (month of nisan) in their calendar year. Jesus died within this period that is why easter is celebrated around this time.

also since the jews calendar only has 256 days as opposed to 365 of the gregorian calendar, they add an extra month every four years and that is why the date alternates between march and april.

though jesus did not expressly say we should celebrate easter, however if we celebrate anniversary/remembrance of our departed loved ones, why shouldnt we celebrate Jesus.
also Jesus did not say we should go to church on sunday but we do today. how do you explain that? if we are going to totally go by the 'pagan celebration' theory then we should not use the days of the week (sunday, monday e.t.c) since they were days dedicated to different roman gods.

in all, i believe that it is the heart of the celebration that matters. whether it originated from a pagan shrine or not. after all the devil didnt originate anything.

for some of us who are always scared whenever we hear of judgements especially in the book of revelation, let me take a few lines to give my 2cents in explaining further what frosbel has posted.

The rapture will take place anytime from now in which the believers(both living and dead) will be taken to meet jesus in the air. (1tess 4:13-18)

After this will commence the great tribulation which will be two halves of 31/2years. This makes a total of 7years. During this time, the believers in heaven will be judged and will recieve their rewards (1cor13;13-15).

After the great tribulation, we will have the millennial reign in which the believers will rule with christ on earth for 1000years. It will be a time of peace as the devil will be thrown into the bottomless pit through out this time (rev20:3).

then comes the white throne judgement where all the sinners will be judged. The believers will only be spectators here having being judged in heaven during the tribulation. The people are judged according to their works because they didnt believe in christ and their works is all they have. Of course their works will not be enough hence their sentence.

they do not have any advocate for them so the with throne judgement is essentially a time that God will sentence the unbelieving makind into eternal perdition which is also known as the second death.

It is our duty as believers not only to do right but also pray for sinners.

@op a little detail will help, how did you two meet? Whats her family background like? what kind of marital problems have you been having in the past? Why the c/s was it prolonged labour or her pelvis was too small?

However, i would like you to know that there is nothing new under heaven and if you hold on, this could be a great testimony later in life. resist the temptation to dump her and take your child away becaause she will always be the mother of your first child. Besides if she is your sister would you disown her?

Firstly, you need to get as much information on the history of her condition (when it started, the trigger factors etc). this is because post natal depression might be the reason she had a relapse. Understand that almost ALL mental conditions can be treated. You only need to be as supportive as you can be.

Having said that, we cannot rule out spiritual factors. from the information you get about her, you should know if will be appropriate to take her for deliverance (if you are not strong enough in faith). that can be done at mfm prayer city. On the other hand if you are a mature christian you can sit on the word, pray and fast and she will be delivered. Trust me, either approach works only that the second might take a longer time but is better.

Two years of marriage is a short time, i believe there are a lot of fundamental issues that you need to addres but since you didnt give details of the problems i might not be able to comment much but this i know, marriage can be one of the most fulfilling experiences on earth.

Though it was wrong for her not to have told you of the condition before you two married, the deed has been done and no matter how painful it is you need to find it in your heart to forgive her and stand behind her.

Finally,if you are not a christian much of what i want to say might not help. So i sugget you accept christ into your heart and ask Him to give you the strenght to be able to support your wife through this ordeal.

What we fail to realise is that at its best, human revelation is just another opinion of the truth.
You see, we are all made in Gods image. if all the world's population each have a complete revelation of God, what each of us have is 1\6billion of the total knowledge of God. So no one is totally right.

We should learn to tolerate others opinions even if we dont agree with them. as i said in another post; the essence of a discourse is to find out what is right and not to establish that you are right.

I do not think Jesus just chose which of the laws to obey, i believe He showed them that the spirit (intention) of the law is more important than the letter(mere observation) for 'the letter killeth. Examples can be found in His teachings on sabbath, honoring parents and sermon on the mount.

I dissagree with the word 'cult' you used in defining the pharisees. I think the word 'sect' better describes them. The pharisees had a legal entitlement to becoming menbers of the sanhedrin.

The sanhedrin was the highest decision making body of the jews which consisted of seventy one members- thirty-five pharisees, thirty-five sadusees and one high priest.

I must say that i admire your understanding of the hebrew language. I want to be like you when i grow up.

op. I want you to know that it it not wrong to expect something from God in response to your giving. It is only wrong if you think it is your giving that makes God to respond-that is pride.

To butress my point, what did you give God to give you life or salvaion? It is important to know that God loves you irrespective of your giving and He is His will to give you a good job.

In believing God for a job, the first thing is not to start throwing money at him(no pun intended). The first thing is to go into Gods word and study scriptures about work and the people God provided such for in the bible. Use such scriptures to build your faith and thank God that He has created one for you. Then your giving is a demonstration of your faith and thanksgiving that He has provided.

from my own experience, if you do this whole heartedly you will loose attention for your joblessness as He will meet your basic needs and in the process direct you on what steps to take and in what direction. Trust me the word works EVERYTIME.

Finally,dont zero in your mind. Sometimes the answer to our prayer is right around us but we dont see it because we are looking at the wrong places. Your answer might not be a job directly, i may just be a thought, an idea or a relationship that God will activate in your life. God bless you.

As for me honesty has to be with wisdom.

For instance i dont understand why i would own a house and my wife will not know. if i dont trust her with my property then why marry her. How about if someone dies suddenly. In these aspects it is 100% honesty.

In other areas such as finance, i started with total disclosure until i had a serious issue with my wife because i refused to borrow her money to dash a relative. it was such a big issue that she was cold for two days. i realised that it was because she knew i had the money. From that day i only disclose about 60% for the sake of peace. Nevertheless i will never deny her anything as long as i have the cash.

However there are somethings i will never tell her. For instance, not all my siblings totally like her. When they make comments to me i reply them on the spot but i will be a big fool to get home and start a narrative. I keep her in the dark over most issues in my family exept the ones she might need to respond to. Maybe to say thank you or greet. I think it is wickedness to carry all my family burdens an add it to hers.

As per faults, it is always good to be as tolerant as possible but it is good to say it out though not publicly. It also helps to buy books listen to programs that adress such issues so that it is not coming directly from you.

Guy, two things you must know-money will not solve your problem neither will killing yourself. You are a man and what makes a man is that he overcomes obstacles and not run away from them. do you think there is one person out there without a serious issue? What makes it worse is that the money actually comes with greater challenges. I bet you if you live long enough, you will have a lot more reasons to take your life.

A man once told me that the beauty about having money is that it exposes you to problems money cannot solve.

As for your family, i understand your pain but my man, you should only feel bad on things you can but refuse to do. I am like the first born in my own family too but whenever i'm going through a rough patch i let them know i cannot help and it took me years not to feel guilty about it.

I agree with you that failed solar jobs is a major diservice to the acceptance of solar electricity.

As a practitioner i cannot imagine the quality of materials used for the streetlights at ogba and allen. Though i do not know the firm that got the contract but they are not helping others who are doing good jobs.

Having said that, there are quite a number of good jobs that we have done.

You can calculate the cost yourself. Every electrical eqipment has a label (usually by the back or in the manual). the way i calculate the cost is to look at the wattage of each appliance, add all together and multiply by N550 (more or less like N550/watt).

You could follow my explanation above but from just a glance those appliances will not only drain energy, they'l drain your pockets too. except if you are using them for business in which case i would advise you go for solar fridge/freezers.

As for the '2-3' sockets, you have to be more specific as to what you want to connect to them so that you can have an accurate system(solar generator) size

i am into solar electricity installation and i can tell you the level of knowledge/edcation is still very low.

For instance someone comes ro me that he wants to power his ac,fridge and tv with solar electricity and i advise him to start with basic needs like light and fan. he tells me that what is the essence of having light without getting cold water. Whe i calculate his honey and give him the bill he shouts ans say why should he spend such money on just having electricity.

the cost of installing solar electricity is coming down by the day. I installed a small system in my house about two years ago, it cost about 180,000 and now i could cut about 40,000 off the same materials.

The truth is we can take advantage of the energy revolution if we would start were we are (moneywise) and if we waste less.

the way people  fasted in the old tstament is diffrent from how it it in th nw testament.

fasting is not a service to God.

fasting makes it easy for you to hear God. its like cleaning your antenna so that you can receive clearer.

that is why fasting without praying and reading the bible is like goring on hunger strike.

i am tempted to quote verses but i wont go into that. i would try to be as simple as possible.

it is only in the eyes of man and in our laws that we have grades in sin/offense. if you commit just one of the sins, you are guilty of all (jam2:10).

the difference with believers is that we have accepted Christ's payment for our sin (past present and future). the effect that sin has on the believers today is that it decreases our consciousness for God and it opens the believer up for demonic manipulations. a believer living in sin will not fulfill purpose and cannot live a victorious life.

also it needs to be said that it is not what people do that takes them to hell i:e how many sins they commit- that takes people to hell. it it what they do with Christ (whether they accept Him as their savior or not).

if it is according to what sins people commit or how "holy" they lived, a lot of hindus will make heaven before believers.



as for blasphemy against th Holy Spirit. is is a sin that cannot be forgiven. however for you to commit this sin you must be 1) a believer and 2) you must be mature (heb 6:1-4). most Christians are not qualified and therefore are not in danger of committing this sin.

coming to your question about Stalin. i have not read much about him. i only know that he was a German leader who did some petty bad things. but this one thing i know, if is in hell now, it is not because he killed those people but because he did not accept Christ.

about breaking a covenant with God. there is no covenant you can make that will supersede that which Jesus made on your behalf. since Jesus will not break His own you have not lost your salvation. all you need to do is to repent and take practical steps to avoid a re-occurrence.

my advice is as follows;
1) know that if it happens once it has a higher probability of happening again. so the best bet is the two of you should sit and openly discuss it. the strength of sin is in its secrecy.
2) find someone you respect that you can both open up to. i man someone that is mature and will not crucify you
3) the old ideas still hold true; don't stay much in secluded places. avoid watching romantic films together e.t.c.
4) finally know that though it is difficult but IT IS POSSIBLE TO STAY AWAY FROM SEX. as a matter of fact there are a lot of people who have had pure relationships and are now married. this writer is on of them.

ii know this might sound odd but FASTING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GOD. all the advantages of fasting is to you as a believer. it does not make God hear you more but it makes you hear God more. it is like tuning your antenna to receive from a station clearly.

food is not against the prosperity of the soul. God created food for our comfort and enjoyment but just like sex everything good can be abused. hence the need to control your eating.
