Please house I need your advice. I just received the document checklist from my husband showing that I need to provide, as a secondary applicant, my employment record (reference letter), which I had thought won’t be needed. Is there something we aren’t doing right because my work experience is not included in our CRS that got us ITA. **My job is currently not open over covid** I’d appreciate your advice. Thanks. |

Hello all, Please I’d like to know how one may present proof a Nigerian work experience from an organization that’s no longer operational. We see people forge reference letters as though the company still exists but we can’t use this method. I’d appreciate your responses. Thanks. |

Hi all, Just got notification that my ielts result is ready. Logged in to check but the “your test & results” menu isn’t responding. Tried different browsers too to no avail. Does one have to wait it out before it opens? I’m in suspense! |

[quote author=Faithyyyyy post=90737451] That’s amazing! True, they don’t have access to their office right now, so they are fully committed to electronic transcript deliveries. Keep in touch with them and all the best in your journey. I got your mail too. 1 Like |

Faithyyyyy: Hello Faithyyyy, My experience with them was impressive. I only had to follow up on them when I had issues with my school/ETX regarding processing and transmitting my transcript. Their turnaround time for feedback is fair enough. Once transcript got to them, everything else was a smooth-sail. They updated my info without further prompts. I’d say they are very efficient especially if you’ll be sending your transcript electronically; that’s the only accepted method for them right now anyway. Hope this helps. |

As someone in a similar position, I don’t think you have any issue claiming 3years experience as long as your research is relevant to fulfilling your role as a GA. In fact you cannot progress in academics without further studies. And in actual sense, while you were away gathering requisite postgraduate experience for your job, the university recognized you as their full-time staff. You were still EMPLOYED! Therefore, your job description during that 3-year period is covered by, and the same as your PG experience. More so, if you have to sum your total work experience in academia, you wouldn’t subtract your years of study leave, will you? Be convinced of these facts and present a strong justification in your LOE for the VOs review. Let the VO see a strong link below your job description as a GA and any technical skill learned/applied during your research. 6 Likes |

madakiagwom: A fat YESSS! I believe the university gave you permission for study leave with pay, right? In that 3years you used for your MSc, you were still fully employed! And I’m sure the university approved your studies on the grounds that you will apply your msc experience to your job upon completion! So technically yes, it does count as you were employed and while studying. Essentially your job sent you on training. Many federal workers know this. Just ensure you include all relevant documents showing study leave approval, references, admissions letters and payslip during the 3year period; expressly state this in your letter of explanation. 1 Like |

Some day...soon...when my success story is complete, I’ll post about how my ECA report got ready in FOUR DAYS after struggling with my school for (6 + 2)months to have it sent!!! To all who’d see this, know the journey can be long but don’t allow setbacks to discourage you. Nothing is impossible! God is Almighty! 8 Likes |

sunkymatete: You have to be patient. Some applications just take way longer than others to process. Screenshot shows they’ve done background checks and eligibility test has commenced. So there is progress. So chill out and stop fretting. When they are done with eligibility, they will send you feedback through bvl and final decision which could be closer than you think. |

aye88: I understand you already have a visitor visa but what I don’t know is if one can have a valid student visa and a visitor visa at the same time which can be used intermittently (I really think not). However, having a visitor visa already will not affect or harm your chances of receiving a student visa. I made that point in terms of functionality ONLY because I think having a student visa gives you more privileges and its usage encompasses...and supersedes... that of a visitor visa. Besides your legal status in Canada will be “int’l student”, not visitor! Regarding your 3yrs visitor visa, its validity will be running while your student visa runs. So if at d end of your program, your student visa has expired, and you still have some time left in your visitor visa, you can still use it to travel but you won’t have that 3years again oh. It’s (3 minus validity of student visa). Hope you get it though. I wouldn’t worry my head over this anyway. Get the student visa first. In any case, you can search through ircc site for clarity and others here can weigh in. |

aye88: A lot to unpack here. 1. Neither of your kids can school in Canada with a US visa. Their American citizenship only gives them an edge in visa applications. You have to apply for a visitor visa for them separately (most likely) after your own student visa is issued. 2. I stand corrected but you cannot possess 2 different temporary visas. Student visa supersedes a visitor visa in purpose and function. What do you need a visitor visa for when you have a student visa? It’s not like data bundles where you have two subscriptions running concurrently. 3. Your hubby is all set with his valid visitor visa since he’s not relocating with you anyway. So no need to include him. He can be your family/home tie in Nigeria. 4. If you apply for v.visa for all three of your kids right now, you have to show sufficient funds to cover their schooling there. Pls refer to posts from page 80-95. You will see how those with kids applied. 5. If you apply for your Nigerian child only, you can use the other two as family ties to boost your application. 6. Your husband need not apply for a sowp if he doesn’t intend to stay with you at long stretches during visits. If he’s going to be spending more time in Nigeria than in Canada with you, what’s the point for a sowp?! That’s if the sowp regulation allows such use for an in and out traveler!). However, if he does apply right now (which means you also have to apply for your kids too) you won’t have a strong basis to prove family ties in Nigeria. 7. My advice, apply for yourself alone first, get your visa, apply for v.visa for your kids, then see how things go with your husband if he does decide to relocate too. All the best and let’s pray Coronavirus doesn’t halt our plans. 1 Like |

seyola: What are the other necessary documents you included? Their reponse shows they are satisfied with your travel history, family and home ties, and personal assets, employment situation etc So research more on how to strengthen your purpose of visit: did you attach a LOE? Do you have who’s inviting you? Was your daily itinerary vague and imprecise especially if you had no one inviting you over? Did you attach a provisional flight booking? What length did you specify for your vacation and did all written dates tally? Did you have a leave letter or did your employer indicate your approved leave and resumption date in your letter of introduction? Work more on these and reapply again with a stronger and detailed LOE. 1 Like |

okikiabdu: Wow this is awesome! This is such a straightforward application and it’s super amazing to see one fly right through. It’s good to know you didn’t have to figuratively pull a hamstring in packaging a ‘perfect’ application. Ircc has rules but at the same time, there’s no hard and fast rule. Each application is treated in its own unique way. Good thing you were persuasive in your LOE though. Congratulations once more and go live life!!!! 1 Like |
