Politics / Re: Did Our Past Leaders Believed In One Nigeria ?, Hear What They Said by yiladogo: 9:08am On Mar 07, 2012
I have a question, where did this guy gt his quotes from exactly?
I don't believe Ahmadu Bello and Awolowo wanted Nigeria to divide on tribal grounds.
This sounds like someone trying to promote his own agenda,
I won't point fingers sha.

in that case due to the surplus companies interested in our oil. We should just kick shell out. And invite guys that are willing to build us a refinery. (Just a thought).
Then we'll see if they still feel building a refinery in Nigeria is not a good enough investment for them
Politics / Re: Ibo And Yoruba Rivalry - Myths And Facts - Part 1 by yiladogo: 2:03pm On Feb 29, 2012
is this about ibo Yoruba rivalry, or is this guy just angry with Yoruba's for choosing to remain in Nigeria during the Civil war. Obviously you don't know your history well and you're just blabbing about stuff you don't really know much about.
Politics / Re: 9 Christians Caught Attempting To Bomb COCIN Church In Bauchi by yiladogo: 9:58pm On Feb 26, 2012
This news seems to be false. Only the so called premuimtimes reported this story.
And when you check the original story you find that someone commented that he went t the said cocin church in bauchi and nothing like that happened.

Also, How did they know which church the 9 suspects came from? And there isn't even a single picture of evidence to prove the story in this era when camera phones are everywhere.

This is just propaganda to take attention away from the real culprits of Jos, bombings.
Politics / Nuhu Mohammed Marafa, Kaduna Terrorist Suspect With Ties To Vp Sambo And His Son by yiladogo: 3:23am On Feb 25, 2012
I just say this News on sahara reporters, My fellow Nairalanders see what this fools are doing, releasing terrorists,

Alhaji Malam Nuhu Muhammad Marafa,, the suspected terrorist and associate of Vice President Namadi Sambo, who was arrested by soldiers on allegations of gun-running and likely links to the Boko Haram sect, has finally regained freedom and is now free in Kaduna.

Mohammed was last week granted bail by a Kaduna Magistrate Court on very lenient conditions, including having a serving Permanent Secretary stand as a surety. He was immediately let go as soon as the conditions were met.

SaharaReporters had in January investigated and found out that the suspect was indeed a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Chikun local government of Kaduna State, where he managed a campaign organization for Namadi Sambo when the current VP ran for the governorship election, which he won. The organization was known as Namadi Ambassadors”.

One of the arresting soldiers who monitored the situation bemoaned the latest developments, saying the trial was politicized, and that it openly compromised national security.

Food / Re: Table Etiquette- For Lefthanded People by yiladogo: 1:30am On Feb 25, 2012
Well,
I'm left handed and honestly I use my fork on my left hand and knife on my right cause it's more convenient for me. and That's how I learned to use it. As for the whole table etiquette thing. I don't think it's compulsory for her to use a fork and knife. let her stick to one utensil it'll save her the whole bushy look. I use a spoon on my lefthand and anyone who see's me will figure I'm a lefty.

And for those who feel, it's a taboo to use to use your lefthand to eat. That's simply your opinion,
Politics / Re: Sanusi's CBN Performance: Soludo Was Better After All? by yiladogo: 12:28pm On Feb 15, 2012
@KenGali

yiladogo:

last time I checked there are four official languages recognised by the Nigerian Constitution. English, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. There are people who can only understand Uroboh, yet they have not been catered for, so I wonder at your sense of equity and pragmatisim. And your claim is actually a lie, Every Nigerian understands at least one of our indigenous languages or English. Most of the people in Nigeria who understand arabic also understand Hausa. Why have Hausa (an official language) and arabic at the same time, what stops you from adding Latin, Italian, German, Chinese just to show the rest of the world our deep seated tactlessness.

Dude we removed the arabic writing now. OR are you still using old notes??
Politics / Re: Sanusi's CBN Performance: Soludo Was Better After All? by yiladogo: 12:22pm On Feb 15, 2012
Also let's compare their work experiences prior to being appointed CBN Governor
Starting with Prof. Chukwuma Soludo

Rose to the rank of professor of economics at the University of Nigeria in 1998,
was appointed Chief Economic Adviser to former President Obasanjo and Chief Executive of the National Planning Commission of Nigeria between mid 2003 and may 2004 when he was appointed CBN governor

Now Lamido Sanusi

1985 - 1997  worked at Icon Limited  (Merchant Bankers), a subsidiary of Morgan Guaranty Trust Bank of New York , and Baring Brothers of London.
1997 - 2005  He moved to the United Bank for Africa in 1997 in the Credit and Risk Management Division, rising to the position of a General Manager.
2005 - 2009  September 2005, he joined the Board of First Bank of Nigeria as an Executive Director in charge of Risk and Management Control, and was appointed Group Managing Director (CEO) in January 2009,
He was also the Chairman, Kakawa Discount House and sat on the Board of FBN Bank (UK) Limited.
he was appointed CBn governor 1st June, 2009.

Let me tease alittle. As some of you put it, in a Banking sector that's dominated by southerners, Sanusi was the first Northerner to reach the rank of CEO first bank. (for those of you don't know first bank is over 100 years old)

personally my best CBN governor was Joseph Oladele Sanusi the guy before soludo. I feel he better curbed Government spending then, and he say he even challenged Obasanjo sometimes when he wanted to make ridiculous policies.

But what I know he did best was grip on our foreign exchange and it was during his time. that our foreign reserves started growing from as low as $ 4 billion to  around $ 10 billion (I'm not too sure of this figure)
Politics / Re: Sanusi's CBN Performance: Soludo Was Better After All? by yiladogo: 11:37am On Feb 15, 2012
I hate to break the heart of the many Soludo fans here.

But I'll tell you guys a known secret,
Soludo Stole as CBN governor more money then some of our known state governors.

Yes the professor did alot of runs.
Let me share some examples,

1. He bought cars for CBN branches that have not yet been open and inflated the prices.

2. He complained that the CBN governor's lounge was not safe, cause it was close to the market. Then he had the Bank sell the Governor's lounge to a company he owned for a petty amount ( The lounge was worth more than N300 million his company bought it for under N80 million). And then he had the bank rent the same lounge from his company for him to stay in.

3. CBN was formed in 1958 and the CBN act was finalised on the 1st of July, 1959. However Soludo had them celebrate CBn's 50 years anniversary in May (2 months earlier), why? because he wasn't sure if he would still be the governor by 1st of July. And he wanted to benefit from the inflated contracts his companies were going to get doing jobs in preparation for the anniversary.

4. But here's the biggest shock you'll ever get.  The non-interest Banking studies in CBN started during Prof. Soludo's tenure. He actuallay wanted to use it to make noise like he did with the New notes and redenomination. He just got removed before he got the chance too. Now he has laid the foundation for islamic banking.

5. Many of you might not realize this but, The most embezzling that lead the the closure and sale of those banks. Where done right after Prof. Soludo's recapitalization project. He provided the bank executives with enough money. And trust Nigerians now. Instead of investing the money in the bank. They opened shops for themselves in dubai. he failed to put in measures to make sure the money was well spent.

governor sanusi inherited problems created by prof. soludo's tenure and has made moves to fix them. it sort of like how Goodluck inherited Boko Haram wahala from president Yar'a dua.

So you should reconsider this thread,

Business / Re: Dangote Cement Opens New Plant At Ibese, Ogun State by yiladogo: 1:36am On Feb 11, 2012
I don't know about you guys oh. But Dangote is officially the richest legitimate African. And should he decide to close all his companies. Not less than 30,000 Nigerians will lose their jobs. That guy is putting his money into his in country and he succeeds in every industry he invests in.

Infact I believe if of to say, we had sold that refinery to him during Obj's regime. By now fuel would have been like N15 per litre and Nigeria would have been making billions annually in revenue. (plus no more subsidy scam).

so kudos to the man. Let every Nigerian Billionaire emulate this guy. instead of buying shops in Dubai or building refineries in venezuela. Invest in Nigeria that's patriotic

Politics / Re: Buhari - Nigeria's Head of State 1983-1985 by yiladogo: 1:03am On Feb 11, 2012
Well,
the Subject of Buhari's govt. has been one of controversy.

Some say he's a fanatic, others say he's the most sincere president we've ever had. I know of all our past presidents sha, It's only him, gowon, shehu Sagari and Nnamdi Azikiwe who we can say didn't steal from the govt. The others stole either directly or indirectly.

But here's the fact, if Major Gen. Buhari isn't a fanatic. He obviously surrounds himself with serveral fanatics. And that in it self disqualifies him. ( I still remember CPC's campaign tactics in Northern Nigeria they went to mosques and gingered the youths even chanting 'kar ku sabi arna' meaning don't choose an infidel and he never publicly disowned that notion).

When the post election violence started, he was quite for the first few days, infact it was on day three that he finally spoke up condemning the violence. after alot of damage has been done.
And even now that we're struggling with boko haram, if he truelly has the well being of Nigeria at heart. He should be on every radio station or TV station in Northern Nigeria openly condemning they're attacks as often as possible. But he's just quietly watching in the name of it's not my regime.
I believe if a Nigerian loves Nigeria, he'll always fight to defend her unity and prosperity whether he likes the president or ruling party or not. That's true patriotism.

Not withstanding sha, I'm not saying Buhari is a fanatic oh. But I'm saying if he's not. He must do more than marry a christian wife, having a christian driver and getting a christian vice president to prove it. And if he has the best intentions for Nigeria at heart he must do more than weeping for Nigeria after losing an election to prove that too.

Actions speak louder than words. He should prove to us this things and maybe we'll trust him alittle more.

Politics / Re: Boko Haram Critic Killed By Gunmen In Kano by yiladogo: 12:36am On Feb 11, 2012
well,
This further reiterates my opinion that Boko Haram are just bullies with guns. Out to hurt anyone (Christian or Muslim) who stands in their way.
Though I don't share the opinion that it's better if they kill their fellow hausa-fulani than if they kill another tribe. Fact is it was still someones father, husband, son and uncle they killed. And it's a very sad thing to lose anyone who is willing to stand up (and speak up) against terrorism (especially a Muslim).
So May his soul rest in peace. And let's all pray for God's comfort to those he left behind.
Politics / Re: What Does The North Contribute To Nigeria by yiladogo: 12:10am On Feb 05, 2012
I'll say it once more.
If you're from southern Nigeria, never make an assumption about any other region except you're actually lived there for at least 2 years. Same goes to northerners and westerners.

The truth is all regions contribute alot. It's true that some regions are champions in their particular fields as opposed to others. That doesn't mean they are any less important.

So enough of the my region is better than yours talk.

Chei and Fuckilious you guys obviously are on the kingdom of biafra boat. And I'm sure you're chrsitians so I'll give you guys this simple advise.

Go and pray that if it is God's will that Nigeria be divided then let it be done peacefully. And let him protect his own.

You guys should grow up and learn to cooperate instead of arguing you all know too little about your own countries history that's why you're all talking like this. If you did, you probably wouldn't have even started this thread.

see if you guys want to bury the guy, bury him and stop making a big spectacle of the whole thing. You guys didn't make this much noise when we all buried our first president Late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Whom I consider to have been a greater leader.

Politics / Re: Abians Protest Peacefully Against The Killings Of Igbos In The North by yiladogo: 2:01am On Jan 17, 2012
The only thing I'll add to this is stop being tribalistic and stop being unnecessarily proud.
For those of you who said Occupy Nigeria should protest the killings and Boko Haram. I don't know about other centres but in Abuja. They did (several placrds asked the govt. to check Boko Haram's killings I saw this with my own eyes). In fact the initiative of Muslims going to guard Christians started from a thread posted on the Occupy Nigeria page on facebook. And it was a Muslim who suggested it.

I say stop the tribalism because, More Northerners have died as a result of the attacks in Northern Nigeria than southerners. You're quick to assume the only Christians in the north are southerners. (That's not the case, we plenty for here).

I strongly suggest some of you come up north or at least ask those who have before making assumptions. We need more peace in this country than unnecessarily marginalization. If only, you'll open your eyes you'll see we all want the same things. Peace, Better living standards, Accountability from our government, Better schools and amenities for our Children.

the same things cause we all live in the same Nigeria.

@phreakabit
Dude I don't know exactly what you're trying to say but as for me. I've a Nigerian, I'm from the North but neither Hausa nor Fulani and I care for Nigeria enough to be against any form of division or civil war. I believe this country isn't perfect and no country in this world is even countries like USA and Uk have tribes or groups who feel cheated or devalued. (e.g Blacks and Mexicans in Us and the smaller countries like ireland feel abit cheated by england and londoners in UK) but they don't go around killing each other.

If one side of Nigeria feels neglected, Let the son's of that soil fix their land. There no part of Nigeria that can't boast of having produced a millionaire, the truth of the matter is our Big Boys don't want to fix our lands and we won't even cooperate with each other. Majority are selfish that's why we don't succeed.

Igbo land has not enjoyed the political advantage they want because you guys don't cooperate together. everyone is interested in his own house and envy even causes some to hate others. When you guys can cooperate you will surelly put a igbo son on the seat of leadership in Nigeria,

It's that simple.
So stop playing victim and avail yourself to the development of your motherland which is Nigeria,
NYSC / Re: Plz, Can Som1 Talk 2 Me About Gombe State, I Av Just Been Posted There For Nysc by yiladogo: 12:17am On Nov 12, 2011
Well, as for a crisis zone. Religious crisis isn't as common in Gombe as it is in most northern states. However, there's a little tension there at times especially during election periods. If you're a christian I'll advice you to keep your head low and stay in an area where you know majority of those who live there are Christians. Don't worry, like 40% of the population are Christians especially so that won't be too difficult. You'll definitely run into some of them.

the local govt. area you get posted to might also determine the kind of people you'll meet. But if you keep your head low you'll be fine.
When they give you a PPA you can tell me the area it is and I'll tell you what i know more the people there.

All the best mate.
