It's a typical example of optical illusion, just like the ones below. But the cat is actually going down.

In the first pic, the little yellow circle is the same size in both instance but due to optical illusion it seems larger in the second instance.


Also in the second pic, the horizontal line are both of the same length in this instance, but seems lengthier in the first instance due to the converging vertical lines. it's all due to optical illusion.
