However, the constitution on Maritime is on exclusive list, the States are powerless to do anything, like River State that generates 380MW but cannot distribute to River States people because of tne law that prevents states from distributing eletricity.

Building of more seaports in Nigeria, is it to support any future diversification of the economy with more value added Nigerian products for export or to support our present import oriented economy. Are they abandoning the Onitsha Inland Port at Bridgehead on River Niger?

Travel / Arik Air Begins Flights Operations To Asaba by Yinkay: 8:51am On Sep 02, 2011
ARIK Air has added Asaba, the capital of Delta State to its growing network of domestic destinations by commencing direct flights from Lagos and Abuja to the new Asaba International Airport starting from Friday September 2, 2011.

The flight will be operated using a Bombardier Q400 daily except Tuesdays and Saturdays, the airline said.

According to Arik Air, the originating flight will depart Lagos at 7am and arrive in Asaba at 8am. The flight will continue onto Abuja, departing Asaba at 0830am and landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport at 0930am.

The outbound flight will then depart Abuja at 1000am and arrive in Asaba at 1100am and depart Asaba at 1130am and arrive in Lagos at 1230pm, connecting onto the rest of Arik’s domestic and international network.

Commenting on the new service, the Managing Director, Mr. Chris Ndulue said, “it is a pleasure to connect Arik Air to one of Nigeria’s new airports and in doing so make Asaba the 20th Nigerian destination served by the airline.

He added that, “the new services to Asaba International Airport will offer a highly attractive alternative to guests from Delta State using the existing flights to Osubi Airstrip, Warri. Arik Air appreciates the importance of Delta State in Nigeria’s industrial and economic development as an oil producing state.

“Arik Air’s new services from Lagos and Abuja to Asaba makes it more accessible and therefore attractive to long-term investment as well as provide increased services for existing businesses in the area,” he noted.

A Bombardier Q400 aircraft will operate on the new route. Arik Air has configured this aircraft to 10 business class, and 62 economy class seats in order to allow for more leg room and aisle space than any other similar category aircraft in the region.

According to Pension Act, you can only access the fund at the age of 50 or on retirement whichever is later.that means you still need to wait for 20 years to access it,look for alternatives, cos the amount deducted monthly together with your employers contribution cannot be much or the total will be small.some senior colleagues in m office jus crossed accumulated total of about a million naira.how are you even sur your employer is remitting your contribution,do u have access to check your pension balance or receive statement/alerts when working?

Politics / Constitutional Ammendment May Lift Ban On Foreign Account Ownership by Yinkay: 6:37am On Aug 09, 2011
President, Governors, others may now operate foreign accounts

Barring last minute change of mind by the National Assembly, the President, governors and Ministers will soon be allowed to operate foreign accounts.

Others that could own foreign accounts are members of the National Assembly, House of Assembly members, commissioners and other public officers.

The proposal is part of the amendments to the 1999 Constitution by the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

With this proposal, such appointees like the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, his Trade and Investment counterpart, Dr. Olusegun Aganga, Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji and other Nigerians from the Diaspora coming home to serve can maintain their foreign accounts.
