It is not really inconsistent government policy because they already signalled it will happen......
The FA of quoted companies has always been the koko when we joined this business many moon ago..why didn't the same monetary policy perform wounders during pmb tenure in the stock market at low rates.
We are told the stock market is a reflection of the macroeconomic of a country .And naija is definitely heading for better days.

You made some valid points here though.

What still baffles me was the correlation btw stock dumping and the measures taking to curb inflation....
I'd thought it should be the other way round......i.e. market is supposed to respond positively to NGX, just like investors will respond positively to other instruments.

I understood many may want to take the funds to more stable instruments but, isn't the rate also a positive one for the economy if we look at it as a means of improving the economy too?

Seriously sha, the government is fond of coming with one policy or the other to depress market for just a little while. Remember CBN policy was released at interval after Q2 result that depress market for a day or two. But then, heaven will not fall, market will still weather the storm somehow.

Just like I said yesterday, we should always try to study market breadth to know when to buy and sell sha.

The NGX may not behave worse than it is as the news of the MPR is not unexpected. Judging from the last rates increase from the fixed income space, investors already knew what was coming and the stock market already has reacted to that before now....

Don't mind that Oga Mashai, he don come again....
He wan buy UBA for N5 and ZEE for N10....lol

So all those sell off we are witnessing before now, we don't think some people already got hook of the news before now? Or that investors already envisaged it could happen?

Anyway, we will leave it for Mr. Market to decide

Their motive is still unknown but with realities on ground, bargainers too are picking as he's dumping.....

We've witnessed this type of scenario before.....once they're done offloading, road go clear....
* One thing is that, if one big Oga needed it at a particular price, they'll find a way of dragging the stock to that junction in order to buy for him/her.

Nascon (#66.00) closed 10% higher than DanSugar (#60.00) today . Is there any change with the merger scheme? Everything looks uncertain at this point.

I think market reactions has to do with their results.....

Fantastic result is expected from NASCON..
If you check thru the Q3 result, it seems SALT made the revenue of the whole 2022 in Q3 already; Q4 will send the revenue high up.....
* Just saying this offhand, may not be accurate, e don tey wey I scan thru the result....

As for SUGAR, FX loss will impact on the result...

But Overall, both will be fine in the short/medium to long run......Merger news will take care of whatever difference that may be btw them.
I think opportunity is just presenting itself to those who are yet to enter the bus.
