DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 9 AUGUST 2019

MSCI on 8 August still maintained a clean slate.

The situation of being highly selective still operates in the market.

One of the ways to make good profit in the market is to avoid highly priced equities (not like MTN at the right price). An example is Nestle, the company is performing well, but majority of the people cannot afford the shares. It is high time the management consider reducing the nominal value for each share, just like what MTN Nigeria did. Unfortunately some people with "half" knowledge in finance will say know, they love the high price ( I actually saw this type of comment in a newspaper sometimes in the pasthuh). Definitely it is not all comments that is worth listening to, just like some people will say if you want to buy shares, buy First bank, UBA and go and keep it in a vault, it would appreciated when you come back to look at it in some ten years’ timehuh

Market still under the grip of the bear.

MSCI is not willing to interfere with this market.

We need to just control our emotions and not be lured to the market by the low prices. Cheap items may lack quality!!! Rely on good fundamentals.

DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 7 AUGUST 2019

NSE Allshare Index has lost 12.42% as at close of market on 6 August 2019. This is the reason why you need to slow down/reduce your exposure to equities for now. MSCI is still quiet, I will not be surprised if the next move by the fund is to exit some position!!!

As a farmer, will you want to be planting in the dry season? Naturally NO.

If we need to buy at all, we limit ourselves to liquid and fundamentally sound equities. Also, we are to buy at the lowest possible prices. There is high probability that prices will continue falling even up to next week (holiday period is ahead, which translate to less participants/demand in the market).

All these idea is coming from the stage analysis. NSE Allshare index is in stage 4, the bulk of the major equities are in stage 4. One will be crazy to be an aggressive buyer in this market.

DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 2 AUGUST 2019

MSCI on 1 August still quiet.

Market is behaving according to our plan (profit forecast wise). No need rushing this market, we have to watch the flow, to see the direction that the big money want to take.

With the plan protest by some groups for next week, we should still be in a relaxed mood, whatever any stock gains is likely to be lost by early next week if the protest is successful.

By the end of next week we should be getting a clearer picture of what the real intention of the market will be for those equities that have released their result.

The speed of recovery from a fall depends on the height you have falling from. Our bull seems to have fallen from a very high wall. The bull now has a broken leg. Therefore, if the bull show up at this moment, we are likely to see a limping bull huh

MSCI still quiet in the market.

I have observed that the stage analysis cannot be used blindly without the backing of some fundamental analysis/ other technical indicators.

HOPE FOR BETTER 2ND QUARTER RESULT FOR UACN REDUCED

With the result from CAP, Portpaint and Livestock feeds. Whatever high expectation we have for profit growth from UACN need to be cut down. Although UACN property has a reduced loss, the sky looks cloudy for substantial profit growth for this company.

For me I will avoid this type of company for the moment.

The market for the moment is still down, let us curtail our optimism. We still need more buyers in the market.

WE NEED SOME BASIC KNOWLEDGE IN THIS MARKET ERA

The believe in the stock market previously was that you buy the blue chips and then in some years you make money angry Those were the day before the cowboys joined the business community.

Now without some basic knowledge (so many people without knowledge are still in the market, thinking that once you are on social media reading some relevant/irrelevant things or what your grandfathers told you in the past you are now a mini expert huh, welcome you will soon know the truth).

I was about jumping up that the current earning per share for WAPCO is now NGN56, with 16billions shares in issue, wonderful!!! However, we should know that there was a "typo" on the report. EPS for WAPCO for 30 June 2019 is NGN0.56, let us be appropriately guided.

DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 26 JULY 2019

MSCI on 25 July still inactive in the market.

Market still waiting for more volume, let us see what will happen in the next 2 weeks.

We should not forget our initial plan when we buy any stock. If we have bought for short term, do not let us convert it to long term investments. The time has changed, now there are more traders in the market than buy and hold investors! You cannot expect big profit like 50 to 100% in this market environment. Once you see some 20% profit or about 12% loss better get out of the markethuh Take this advice with the usual terms and conditions appliedhuh

DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 25 JULY 2019/ANALYSIS OF RECENT RESULTS RELEASED

MSCI still inactive in the market. Mobil, Redstar and UPL released their results yesterday. Only the result for Redstar can be classified as fair, the other 2 are poor (thus the 2 companies should be off our radar for some time). For University Press, the company is likely to have lost a major contract in the last one year, if you have any shares in the company the best is to sell NOW before you get hit by the big loss (at the moment whatever you have lost is small compared with the loss that is coming).

Market still down. I will post any profit forecast we request for later today (companies that are always traded only) base on popular demand. But below is our expectation for FBNH next result.

Generally market is still down, move the market, like Zenith, MTN, SEPLAT and co.

DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 23 JULY 2019

Looking forward to what will be the outcome of the MPC meeting. Whatever is the MPC action will determine how the market will play the market for the next few months.

MSCI is still on temporary break. I am on MSCI side, but fundamentals of some results will likely bring me out of my shell.

These days, I am so cool on the market, no big worry since I have the stage analysis report and the profit forecast on my side.

Let us stay with fundamentally sound equities, we should stop buying stock because the prices are cheap.

On a closing remark, we should come out our shell and continue to contribute like before. However, we should stay by the side of what we have good knowledge about, we are all useful in this forum.

Investing does not have to be like gambing? We need to invest only companies with growth potential.

Market is still down. The 2nd quarter results will differentiate the growth companies from those that will make you poorer? See the expectation for Nestle/Okomu below:

MSCI still on the buying side of the market, buy trying to play safe by not concentrating too much on particular equities. if MSCi is now playing safe, why will you want to gamble with your relatively small money (compared with MSCI)? Now is time to start playing the market with caution.

MSCI still quiet in the market, no action.

A caveat for us is that we do not take decision solely on fundamentals or technicals, the two are taken into consideration to arrive at a good decision.

Our biggest losses are going to arise if we rely on fundamentals only as we may end up buying too early, when the momentum from the technical side does not support our decision.

On 9th of July post made by you, you wrote that stocks on Stage 4 should not be bought. That your followers should buy stock on stage 2. FCMB was on stage 4 according to you(based on your TA). And now from this post you stated thst your followers can buy FCMB based on your projected Half year PAT (based on your FA).

Isn't there a conflict you should resolve?
Thanks Rabbi,

In one of the write-ups, I pointed out the fact that one can buy in any stage if you detect that stage 5 pattern has form or is about to form. If we are to wait for stage 2, we will not buy anything in this our Nigeria market for a long time. At the moment no stock is in stage 2. See my posting of 13th June 2019, where this was explained.

God bless you

STOCK MARKET UPDATE- CLOSE OF MARKET 11 JULY 2019

Today is a day of the black swan. Instead of the expected positive, the index closed heavily on the Negative side @ 28,712.90

Playing this market without a plan is dangerous. It is back to the drawing board. 10 gainers 19 losers.

Like the general saying, by fire by force the market is teaching us to control our emotions. For now, only few equities are good in the market. In a falling market like this, buy and hold can kill someones investment.

My stop losses are on standby. The day FCMB closes below NGN1.56, I will have to take my stop loss without looking back since I bought at 1.69. There is no perfect investment strategy, even if we have bullet proof charm (my odeshi cannot withstand these level of bear fire power if it continues), by the time the market comes with a bomb, the charm may not work again, better to run for your lifehuh
