MARKET UPDATE FOR CLOSE OF 27 SEPT Bears won the week, Allshare Index closed at 27368.84. A -0.05%, loss for the week. Fairly good outing for the investors (if you are on the right side OF THE MARKET). If we consider today like a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner (bull or bear for the week), Dangem and MTN losing their kicks cause the bull to lose out. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 26 SEPT 2019 MSCI bought only Stanbic on 25 Sept. Loss for the week now 1.48%. This should not create panic as most fundamentally good stocks are still holding their ground. Market may range or go down. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. Good to know that MSCI is seeing value in UACN and Wema too.
Please note that MSCI is neither in UACN nor Wema bank. Comment is based on our own technical indicators. |
STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 25 SEPTEMBER 2019 MSCI was a net buyer buying Oando and Stanbic. The bearish pressure was heavy yesterday, but still spared the fundamentally sound stock or did not affect them much. However, we are still keen in buying fundamentally good equities like UACN, WEMA bank etc at strong support level. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 24 SEPT 2019 MSCI is still in the market, very little transaction on the buying side. On the negative closure, no problem it was on very weak volume. We still expect a range/slightly bullish week. Support for the week is still intact at 26912.74. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. UPDATE CLOSE OF WEEK 20 SEPT 2019. A fairly good week for the bulls. At 27698.69 the Allshare index gained 0.19% for the week, loss for the year now 11.87%. We will return on Monday next week, likely for a slightly bullish week again. However, I see a checkpoint at 28,000 level of the All share index. Caution: This is for information purpose only. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 20 SEPTEMBER 2019 MSCI still committed another $600k to the market yesterday, bought stocks accross the sectors, but sold Guinness. As we go to the 3rd qtr of the year, it is another positioning time. Our forecasts for the bulk of the companies are ready. Just for example, in the banking sector, Access, FCMB and Union bank should deliver improved profits compared with 2018. For this week, the market has been fair to the bulls in terms of market depth. Not a bad week!!! Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 19 SEPT 2019 Yesterday MSCI was a net buyer of equities. Full details for our subscribers. Since last week, the market has been fairly okay with more gainers than. Let us stay on the side of stocks with growth potentials, this is not a time to go for those illiquid stocks, they can wait latter!!! Caution: This is for information purpose only. DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 17 SEPT 2019 Market closed lower yesterday, main driver for upward movement in the market is still intact. I don't know whether the fall in the index was intended to scare the retail investors, but we expected more buyers to come into the market!!! Whatever MSCI does with Oando at a time like this can be a pointer to the direction of the oil market at least for the short term. Yesterday MSCI sold Guinness (more quantity than previous disposals) Buying Oando between, 3.85 and 3.98 will still be a good move. But let us remember once it gets to 4.80 we should be prepared to get out. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 16 SEPT The Allshare Index is close to a demand point. There is high possibility that the week will be a bullish one looking at the crude oil price. Support level, 26070.79. MSCI transaction for the week just ended bought OANDO and Stanbic, sold Guinness Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 9 SEPT 2019 OANDO was one of the stocks bought by MSCI last week, the equity has triggered a buy in our indicator, this is a short term play our entry is around NGN3.96 while we are to exit at NGN4.80. Seems bears are now confused by our prayer warriors ![]() There is high probability that this week will end on the bullish side. All things being equal there is about 70% probability that this Monday will make people smile in the market. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. TARGET PROFIT FORECAST FOR ACCESS BANK - POSTED 1ST AUG 2019 Our forecast saw the big jump in profit coming long ago. We are in picture of the 3rd quarter results for most major companies by now!!! STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 5 SEPT2019 Wednesday, MSCI bought sold GTB and Dangcem/ bough only small quantity of one stock. Fund now on a net seller. Wait for better entry in the light of the bears brought by the SA issues. Our buying should be minimal until the bearish momentum from this xenophobia issue is over. We cannot be too wrong on the side of the fundamentals, still stay with only fundamentally good equities only. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 4 SEPTEMBER 2019 Tuesday, MSCI reported purchase of Fidelity Bank and Oando, while selling GTB and Dangcem all in small quantities. There is high probability that the market may slow down today, due to South Africa related issues. We should still avoid adding to our positions aggressively. No much positive news to move the market. UACN should be on our radar by now. But what should we buy, the market will tell us!!! Caution: This is for information purpose only. MARKET UPDATE 3 SEPTEMBER 2019 The upward move for the 2 days of this week have yielded a gain of 0.77%, compared with a loss of -0.71 for Tuesday last week. There seems to be some big buyers in the market today. The volume traded is higher compared to the previous 2 trading days. This is good news!!! But if U ask me what is moving the market, I don't really know!!! Except for MSCI that may want to capture MTN/Dansugar & Co, expected good performance from some companies like Access (not a recommendation for anybody to buy) and the UACN matter. Nevertheless our own is to enjoy the temporary uptrend while it last. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 3 SEPT 2019 Monday opened bullish. MSCI had no movement in the portfolio (this may be due to the public holiday in US yesterday). Let us avoid buying garbage in our quest to find bargain. We need to exercise caution by only buying stocks with good fundamentals!!! Caution: This is for information purpose only. Valueinvestor:Noted. MSCI does not have UACN in their portfolio. |
[Is it MSCI that's exiting UACN like this? Below was the position of the portfolio as at 29 August 2019, from morningstar.com.

STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 2 SEPT 2019 Friday has low activity from the side of the fund, but still a net buyer, bought Dangsugar, ETI, OANDO etc. Selling side were Dangcem, GTB, Nestle etc. This week is likely to be for Access Bank, but if U have not bought, it may already be late. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 30 AUGUST 2019 Thursday was a not very active for the fund, still on both buying and selling side. As usual consistent in buying MTN, FCMB, and Fidelity: while selling Nestle, GTB etc. On the results released recently (PZ, Guinness, Fidelity etc.), only Fidelity bank’s result seems to be fair but not a license to start buying (we need to continue monitoring the market). Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. I am no more sweating in this market!!! there is a reliable system to follow (Target Technical reports made up of fundamental and then technical timing)

STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 29 AUGUST 2019 Wednesday was a day for MTN as far as MSCI was concerned, other top additions to the fund’s portfolio were: Ecobank, Transcorp, FBNH. The selling side has Access, Nestle, UBA and Dangcem. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 28 AUGUST 2019 Generally the NSE Allshare Index is still in stage 4, waiting for another positive news/event that will move the prices of some equities to the positive side. For now, MSCI coming back to the market seems to be one of the reasons that the prices of some stock are moving. If MSCI is out a stock like Transcorp should have fallen to about NGN0.90 by now. Yesterday among the equities bought by MSCI are MTN, Transcorp, ETI etc. On the selling list Nestle, Dangcem etc. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 27 AUGUST 2019 MSCI is now on buy and sell side, among shares bought were Transcorp, MTN Nigeria (new entrant), Fidelity Bank, Dangote Sugar etc. On the sale side were Nestle and Dangcem. Therefore, if we see Nestle/dangcem losing some grounds we should not be surprised and for a stock like MTN, we are likely to see better movement in price. This is a season of buying at the lowest support possible. Good news still scarce in the market. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. MARKET UPDATE CLOSE OF 23 AUGUST 2019 An interesting week. The Allshare Index gained 3.22% for the week. Allshare Index loss for the year now:11.55% compared with loss of 14.33% last week. Can the bullish trend continue next week, our analysis and market reaction next week will show us the picture. We look forward to better opportunities next week. On a lighter mood, we want to appeal to the stock exchange to always invite JP Morgan (they have a stake in MSCI) to come and be ringing the bell everyday, we know he will always come with some dollars in his pocket. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 23 AUGUST 2019 MSCI added more equities. Top on the list were: Oando, Wapco, Transcorp, Guinness, UBA, FBN etc. We should note, MSCI buys with eyes for the future, but the purchase/sale always influence the direction of the market due to values involved. Let us continue to enjoy the temporary bull, buy we must stick to our plan that fundamental quality of the stock matters. Caution: This is for information purpose only. DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 22 AUGUST 2019 MSCI on 22 has gone back to reclusive mode. Let us see if out at about USD60 can still make the temporary bull to continue, also I am fairly optimistic that some news readers will probably jump into the market to buy stocks that may fall soon. Let us continue to exercise caution with our buying decision. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. DAILY STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 19 AUGUST 2019 MSCI on 16 August is still absent from the market. This is another week with very little opportunity. All the equities that seem to have low prices are still having a momentum to the down side, telling us that some equities we think are cheap are likely to become cheaper!!! Caution is the name of the game at the moment. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 16 AUGUST 2019 The bear is currently ravaging the market. How do we survive/protect our portfolio? See our comments below. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 15 AUGUST 2019 Allshare Index has lost 13.83% in 2019? We need to reduce our equity holdings, going for companies that deal in essential services/products is one of the strategies for surviving a bear market environment. If you have the last 5k in your pocket, what service/product can take some of the money from your Pocket despite the fact that you may not wish to spend the money? Food, Communication, Transportation, Drugs, Real Estate. I will go further by saying is there any company that is quoted on the exchange that is providing these services, with little competition and still has some growth potential in this difficult operating environment. STOCK MARKET GUIDE FOR 14 AUGUST 2019 MSCI still has a clean slate. These equities be avoided this week NBL, FBNH, GTB, Zenith, May & Baker downside momentum is strong. MTN is one of our buy choices this week, plus a no loss pick, yes you can buy shares and not suffer loss ![]() If you corner a company with positive shareholders earnings, currently profitable, has the probability of delivering a good result at year end , has a low risk business model and is currently selling at NGN0.20, what do have to lose. Naturally you have nothing to lose, except your capital that will be tied down for like 2 months, but note that you are protecting yourself from tying down money by making up your mind that you will hold for a short time and 20% gain will be okay. Proverbially, I will say this is Coca-cola without sugar, did I hear zero Coke or Zero loss!!!. If the bears decide to continue, then I will add some no loss strategy to my stock market investing arsenal. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct.
