Politics › You Make Igbos Poor With Your Leadership, Chidi Odinkalu Blasts Rochas Okorocha by Youngadvocate(op): 2:48pm On Apr 17, 2017
Governor Rochas Okorocha could really be having something amiss in this his second tenure as the barrage of criticisms and public outcry on his policies and programmes seem to intensify as the days go by.

To join other notable voices, Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, NRHC, Chidi Odinkalu, has called on Rochas Okorocha to change his ways as his Leadership style, policies and programmes would impoverish the south east.

In his speech at the first Imo Good Governance Lecture held in Owerri, at the weekend, Odinkalu amongst other reasons, alleged that pensioners in the state were “forced to surrender their money,” and that other recklessness of Rochas Okorocha in office especially in this second tenure are punishing the people.

He therefore, called on all imonites to rise up against this degradation of the state by the government so-called leadership.

The speech read in part: "On the line question is that how many people are satisfied with the state of Imo state. I remember when the last election was taken place and there were people who were prepared to kill for the governor. I mean the current governor. Where we are today everybody is recounting.

“Pensioners are being forced to surrender their money as a precondition for getting anything at all. Regular workers are being owed and they are required to sign away a significant chunk of their salaries.

“All the so called roads are undone and in tatters and indeed have become a danger to a lot of people and insecurity has risen. The government does not appear to have the attention span of the serious responsibility of government.

“I am sure the government means very well but sometimes we got to admit that people may be on the wrong job and I think he is. I wish him very well but the thing is that we cannot continue to keep the wrong people in the wrong job.

“I say here, Imo state is the most educating state in the country, highly globalized and internationalized. It needs to begin to think of the kind of government of leadership and structure that will reflect the awareness structure of it demographics.

“Listen, if we Igbo are to compete at the Nigeria level in a manner that makes our people rise up with dignity then we can’t continue to have this type of level of governance. We got to say no to it.”

Lol...someone isn't happy with Governor Willie Obiano.

Just few minutes after the Anambra state Governor shared his Easter message, a lady identified as Kelechi Anyikwa came to him smoking and was ready to drag him on this one with some bashing.

As shared earlier, Gov. Obiano shared his Easter message and wrote: "the feast of Easter should remind us of the deep mysteries of divine love, salvation and forgiveness. Of all creations, God choose to make man in his own image and likeness.

"Of all creatures, God sent His only begotten son to die for man.

"God has always made us the Apple of his eye."

Kelechi, in response to Obiano's tweet, wrote "...after killing Biafrans in Anambra state abi? God will surely judge you murderer."

Lol...it remains to get the answer from Willie Obiano...we are watching them.

Politics › Court Moments Of Nnamdi Kanu And Boko Haram Leaders, Something Is Wrong!! by Youngadvocate(op): 10:49pm On Apr 13, 2017
This is what one gets in Nigeira. A country where normal global realities become abnormal and abnormal global realities are only normal.

One can't possibly tell why almost nothing works in this country. The wheels of development are crippled by nepotism, ethnic bigotry, religious dogmatism, devilish minds and antics of politicians.

They introduce any instrument, antics and game possible that will ensure they perpetuate their self-serving interests and aggrandisement. It therefore, doesn't mean a thing if millions of innocent souls are murdered in a day, so far as
they have their way.

Boko Haram was a case in hand. Prior to the 2015
elections, it was a ploy meet for propaganda. The obsession of this government to get grip of power by all means ensured they managed the crisis masterly to their favour.

Although many raised the dust that majority of politicians in the opposition camp from the north were core sponsors of the deadly sect, public gullibility and misinformation prevailed in the face of strong propaganda.

With Nnamdi Kanu in detention for charges so flimsy that it didn't take long before two court judges dismissed, them.

Whenever he and his fellow IPOB Prisoners were going to court, uninformed persons would mistake him and his colleagues to be world class terrorists because of the presence of heavy security and the manner he was so guarded.

In several occasions, the court would be locked against the public that wanted to witness the proceedings and security men would mount outside with Security dogs and ammunition. He was particularly always handcuffed while his
colleagues were mostly free.

On the contrary, Boko Haram leaders who head one of the deadliest terrorists groups in the world have killed thousands of innocent citizens and rendered many areas in the northeast desolate, were seen in the court seated with comfort and bliss, chatting and apparently having good time
in the court room. They seemed unperturbed and far too healthy than a civil servant in office agonising over his 7 months unpaid salary would look.

Politics › These Factors Make Igbos Successful And Ahead Of Others by Youngadvocate(op): 10:24pm On Apr 13, 2017
Somebody asked me what i think is the reason why Anambra, has more successful merchants than any other Igbo state?
I told her it is because of it's geographical location and culture.
Its geographical location made the British Royal Niger Company establish the first trading post in Igboland at Onitsha in 1857 and it's undiluted Nri culture pushed men first from the adjoining hinterland to Onitsha and then back to the interiors as middlemen in search of palm oil, kernel to sell to the British traders at Onitsha and take back British goods to the interior.

The same dominant Nri culture consolidated wealth acquisition and redistribution within members of these communities of middlemen. It could be the reason why Onitsha people, with a slightly diluted Nri culture are not as great merchants as Osumenyi or Nnewi people for example.

The British reached Abor,Idah,Koton Karfe,Lokoja,Bussa,Jebba etc in 1841 Niger Expedition before Onitsha.

The first British trading post in what is now Enugu state was in Ogurugu, now in Uzo Uwani LGA because they came on a canoe through the Anambra river that joined the River Niger leading to their post in Onitsha.Merchants like Umeanu of Enugwu Agidi,Ibeneme etc went to Nsukka and other centers of palm oil trade through this route.

Politics › FG, Extend Whistle-blowing Policy To Illegal Possession Of Arms..ike Ekweremadu by Youngadvocate(op): 9:48am On Apr 13, 2017
Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser (Media) Mr Uche Anichukwu in Abuja on Wednesday, told Buhari led Executive to arms’ proliferation with the whistle-blower policy just as it’s doing in corruption

The call was made when a delegation of the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) paid him a courtesy visit in his office, Abuja.

Without illicit arms mopped up and recovered from illegal hands, Ike said, the mass killings and destruction of lives and properties especially by the Fulani Herdsmen will never stop, underscoring that the federal government needs to put first, the lives and rights of the citizens in their agenda.

His statement read in part: “We just considered the report of the Senate Committee that investigated conflicts in many parts of Nigeria, especially the killings in Southern Kaduna.

“We asked the committee to go back and do more work, because the matter is such a very serious one.

“I also made it clear that as we have addressed money laundering and corruption with the whistle blower policy, it is time to bring that to bear on arms proliferation in the country.

“People keep arms all over the place and some people know where they are.

“It is time that those who know where these arms are should be able to blow the whistle on them,” he said.

Whistle-blowing he explained would help security agencies to go after those in possession of the weapons, seize and destroy the weapons.

Politics › EFCC Reveals The Owner Of The Ikoyi House Where Huge Raps Of Money Were Found by Youngadvocate(op): 7:15am On Apr 13, 2017
The immediate former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former governor of Bauchi state Ahmadu Adamu Mu'azu, has been allegedly declared the owner or occupant of the Ikoyi building the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) uncovered raps of money.

Igbobia.com had, yesterday Wednesday given the newsflash that the agency same day uncovered over $43.4m, £27,800 hidden in the 7th Floor of a four - bedroom apartment at Osborne Towers located at 16, Osborne road Ikoyi, residential building.

The EFCC revealed it contracted Bankers to count the monies that amounted to $43.4m, £27,800 and N23.2m.

EFCC confidants close to Mu’azu however, confirmed that the house belonged to him, and that other occupants of the house included former Chief of Air Staff, Adesola Amosu, Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, a former Managing Director at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Godwin Obla, a senior lawyer and former prosecutor to EFCC.

Recall, Obla mentioned here had been arrested and charged to court for alleged irregular payments to Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumugobia who is one of the judges also arrested in the ongoing purported corruption scandal in the judicial sector.

Ogbue was one of the top EFCC officials sacked on Tuesday, April 11 over crude oil sale scandal.

EFCC disclosed: "the operation followed a whistle blower's confidential alert received by the Commission's Lagos office this morning regarding some noticed suspicious movement of bags in and out of a particular apartment in the building. According to the source, the movers of the bags, make believe that they bring in bags of clothes.

"Another source who is conversant with the apartment of interest indicated that some woman usually appeared on different occasion with Ghana Must Go bags.

"She comes looking haggard, with dirty clothes but her skin didn't quite match her outward appearance, perhaps a disguise", the source said. Bankers were brought it to assist with counting the monies.

"On getting to the building, operatives met the entrance door locked. Inquiries from the guards at the gate explained that nobody resides in the apartment, but some persons come in and out once in a while. In compliance with the magisterial order contained in the warrant, the EFCC used minimum force to gain entrance into the apartment.

"Monies were found in two of the four bedroom apartment. Further probe of the wardrobe by operatives in one of the rooms, was found to be warehousing three fire proof cabinets disguisedly hidden behind wooden panels of the wardrobe, upon assessing the content of the cabinets, neatly arranged US Dollars, Pound Sterling and some Naira notes in sealed wrappers."

However, Mu’azu through one Akin Oyegoke identified as the "Media and ICT Personal Assistant" denied that Mu'azu owned or lived in the apartment. “Mr Muazu does not own any house in Ikoyi except his house at Walter Carrington street, Victoria Island Lagos,” he said.

Politics › Most Technicians In Kano Are From South; While Untrained Indigenes Beg - Sanusi by Youngadvocate(op): 7:55pm On Apr 12, 2017
The vociferous progressive muslim, Emir Of Kano and Former CBN Governor, Lamido Sanusi has yet again sought to speak meaning and reason into his conservative and seemingly intellectually disadvantaged northern brothers and sisters, charging them to learn from the commercially minded and productive Igbo people as well as other progressive southern tribes that have set the pace of development in the country and apparently left them (the north) behind.

He wrote on his Instagram page:

"I choose to fight for the progress of Nigerians and suggest solutions to their problems. It's my duty to speak the truth about the ill-effects of conservative Muslims who are harming Islam rather than helping it. I condemned their refusal to expand their knowledge outside their own religion and failure to realise that knowledge is power.

I also correctly concluded denying the right to pursue scientific and technological knowledge and restricting people to Islamic knowledge is the best means of ensuring that Muslims in Northern Nigeria will be remain economically backward. I'm upset at the legion of beggars on the streets and is trying to bridge the gap between the backward North and the Southern parts of the nation.

I still believe that conservative Muslims are still stuck in the 13th Century and their claim that children need no other knowledge than Islamic studies flies in the face of reality. All the poverty, under-development and immense suffering in the North are a result of uneducated masses refusing to learn work or a trade.

The majority of technicians in Kano are from the South while untrained indigenes beg. How does that make sense? Why is it that conservative Muslims who claim to be against scientific progress enter aeroplanes and fly to perform the Hajj in Mecca rather than using camels to cross the desert! Why do they watch sermons beamed by TV live from Mecca and read the Holy Quaran on their laptops yet profess to abhor modern technology? I'd like to point out that there is no harm in copying from the West if it brings succour to the masses of poverty stricken Muslims in Northern Nigeria.

After all Saudi Arabia, the "home" of Islam is known for its highly-rated airline, modern hospitals, indigenous oil industry and space program all of which make it a world leader. In our backward nation, we insist on denying the truth. Unless Northern political leaders like Governor Yari pay attention to me, there will never be a day when anywhere in the North will be like the modern Muslim cities of Kuala Lumpar, Istanbul, Jakarta, Lahore, Greater Cairo, Dacca, Karachi, Dubai, Riyadh or Faisalabad"

Politics › Re: Review: Igbos Have No Claim Over Lagos...2013 Article Of Femi Fani Kayode (pt 1) by Youngadvocate(op): 1:22pm On Apr 12, 2017
Zirah:
From where did you get these nonsensical assertions?

1. This is one of the many reasons igbos can never get their left from right. When you say you abandon your own father's house to go develop another man's land, isn't that the height of stupidity? It is even dumber when you say these things with gusto.

2. As if that's not enough. You will now believe your own delusions that it's impracticable to "assign" the ownership of Lagos to those who own it. See your mouth like "assign". What is assign? Who will be doing the "assigning". Is it you that are yet to get it right even for your own people and village? Hello, somebody?! Anybody?

3. I can't wait for your nonsense Biafra to happen but have you thought about what would be when you have your Biafra? The Lagos State government would buy your little investments and the proceeds could be used to set up in your arid-ridden state. Let's see how you'd thrive...then we would know if Biafra was worth it.
Okay...thank you for saying something...I would rather you waited for my submission, but since you couldn't go through beginning of the article, you will see PECULIARITY
Politics › Review: Igbos Have No Claim Over Lagos...2013 Article Of Femi Fani Kayode (pt 1) by Youngadvocate(op): 9:55pm On Apr 11, 2017
On the debate of the ownership of Lagos, it will be almost impractibale to have the status of the state asinged to a particular ethinc group in Nigeria for so many reasons which I shall discuss at the end of the series of this article, possibly in the part 3.

However, for the peculiarity of Nigerian politics, dugged in ethnicity, sentiments discrimination and all sorts of realities that undermine National Identity and solidarity, Lagos belongs to a particular ethnic group which is Yoruba.

I shall deliberate extensively and intensively on this discourse at the end of the series like I had said. Nevertheless, I shall present part by part, this article which sums the view point of Fani Femi-Kayode on the STATUS OF LAGOS in which he meant, Igbo people should return to their land or better put, remember to develop their land as well.

Ndi-Igbo, as is obtained all over Nigeria, have contributed immensely in building Lagos to the status of biggest West African commercial hub it is today. They have most of the companies, the factories, the firms, the commercial centres, the stores and the kiosks that make Lagos what it is today.

It is however unfortunate and rather saddening that same people who invest in Lagos and elsewhere, even places in the north with little modern commercial appeal, have abandoned their home land, the south east and rendered the highly commercial part of the country unproductive. The best investment they make is to erect magnificient buildings and acquire exotic cars, none of which gives meaning and essence to the commercialisation of the southeast.

Let us first take on FFK on this....

Permit me to make my second and final contribution to the raging debate about Lagos, who owns it and the seemingly endless tensions that exist between the Igbo and the Yoruba. It is amazing how one or two of the numerous nationalities that make up Nigeria secretly wish that they were Yoruba and consistently lay claim to Lagos as being partly theirs. Have they forgotten where they came from? I have never heard of a Yoruba wanting to give the impression to the world that he is an Igbo, an Ijaw, an Efik or a Hausa-Fulani  or claiming that he is a co-owner of Port Harcourt, Enugu, Calabar, Kano or Kaduna. Yet more often than not, some of those that are not of Yoruba extraction but that have lived in Lagos for some part of their lives have tried to claim that they are bona fide Lagosians and honorary members of the Yoruba race.

Clearly it is time for us to answer the nationality question. These matters have to be settled once and for all. Lagos and the South-west are the land and the patrimony of the Yoruba and we will not allow anyone, no matter how fond of them we may be, to take it away from us or share it with us in the name of ”being nice”, ”patriotism”, ”one Nigeria” or anything else. The day that the Yoruba are allowed to lay claim to exactly the same rights and privileges that the indigenous people in non-Yoruba states and zones enjoy and the day they can operate freely and become commissioners and governors in the Niger Delta states, the North, the Middle Belt and the South-east, we may reconsider our position. But up until then, we shall not do so. Lagos is not a ”no-man’s land” but the land and heritage of the Yoruba people. Others should not try to claim what is not theirs.

I am not involved in this debate for fun or for political gain and I am not participating in it to play politics but rather to speak the truth, to present the relevant historical facts to those that wish to learn and to educate the uninformed. That is why I write without fear or favour and that is why I intend to be thoroughly candid and brutally frank in this essay. And I am not too concerned or worried about what anyone may think or how they may feel about what I am about to say because I am a servant of truth and the truth must be told no matter how bitter it is and no matter whose ox is gored. That truth is as follows. The Yoruba, more than any other nationality in this country in the last 100 years, have been far too accommodating and tolerant when it comes to their relationship with other nationalities in this country and this is often done to their own detriment. That is why some of our Igbo brothers can make some of the sort of asinine remarks and contributions that a few of them  have been making in this debate both in the print media and in numerous social media portals and networks ever since Governor Fashola ”deported” 19 Igbo destitute back to Anambra state a while ago.  In the last 80 years, the Igbo have been shown more generosity, accommodation, warmth and kindness and given more opportunities and leverage by the Yoruba than they have been offered by ANY other ethnic group in Nigeria. This is a historical fact. The Yoruba do not have any resentment for the Igbo and we have allowed them to do in our land and our territory what they have never allowed us to do in theirs. This has been so for 80 long years and it is something that we are very proud of. As I said elsewhere recently, to be accommodating and generous is a mark of civilisation and it comes easily to people that once had empires. The reason why many of our people take strong exception to the apparent outrage of the Igbo over this ”deportation” issue and the provocative comments of my friend and brother Chief Orji Uzor Kalu when he described Lagos as being a ”no man’s land”  is because the Igbo have not only taken us for granted but they have also taken liberty for licence.

Crime › Read Funny Story Of How Nwachukwu, The Powerful Igbo Man Was Named "Killi We" by Youngadvocate(op):
"His real name was Nwozuzu Nwachukwu (or something like that). He got the nick name 'Killi We' after a fight with a certain man. Story has it that the man refused to pay him for his services as a truck pusher. Nwachukwu then carried the man's goods from either the market or bus stop (I can't really say) to the man's house.

After dropping off the goods, the man refused to pay claiming the charge was too high. He tried to walk away and Nwachukwu grabbed him by the hand insisting he must pay. A fight ensued and he pinned the man to the ground.

The man's wife came with a wooden pestle to assist her husband. Nwachukwu snatched it from her, lifted the woman up and pinned her on top of her husband on the floor. Powerless, she started screaming, "Killi we Nwachukwu, Killi we Nwachukwu" meaning, 'Nwachukwu, Kill us'"

Attached is a picture of "Killi we" in action

Politics › Governor Rochas Okorocha Quarells Again, This Time, With Hon. Emeka Ihedioha by Youngadvocate(op): 7:59pm On Apr 10, 2017
Gvoernor Rochas Okorocha seems now to be involved in quarrels more than governance. Just some days ago, he released a statement blasting his immediate predecessor, Ikedi Ohakim who had criticized his style of governance and policies.

Okorocha is on it again, this time, he faces Former Deputy Speaker of House of Reps, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who also, had criticized Okorocha’s policies especially, this second tenure, which Ihedioha said were counter-productive and shallow.

The Imo State Governor, in retaliation, trying to incarcerate the political personality of Ihedioha stated that the reason PDP lost in the 2105 election was because Ihedioha “took” the ticket.

Still through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha said on Sunday in Owerri that Ihedioha and others who criticized him were dead to Imo politics and sought to revive their relevance by criticizing him.

His statement read in part: “again, we have also decided not to be reacting to Chief Ihedioha’s constant media attacks on Governor Okorocha, because we have discovered that they do all these to give outsiders the erroneous impression that they are still relevant in Imo politics, when in actual fact, they have all gone into political oblivion.

“The fact is that Chief Ihedioha sustained his growth in politics from 2003 to 2015 through name-dropping and that ugly development ended in 2015.

“When he took the ticket of the PDP for the 2015 guber election, everybody knew that the party had denied itself the needed impact it would have made in that election.

“At the end of the election, he could only have the three local governments of Mbaise where he comes from, out of the 27 local governments in the state.

“And today, he does not have any other name to drop. And if he runs for councillorship in his ward today, he will fail woefully.

“In 2003, he dropped the name of Atiku Abubakar to grab the ticket of the party and then went to the House of Representatives.

“He also continued to drop the name of Goodluck Jonathan until that gimmick was forced to stop in 2015.

“He is a brief-case politician and Imo people always have reservations for such politicians. He is disconnected from the people unlike Okorocha who is glued to the people.

“They are two different scenarios. Let him state what he did for his Mbutu ward, his Federal Constituency and Imo people in general for the twelve years he was in the House of Representatives and ended up as the Deputy Speaker of that House.

“Let him also state what the PDP governments achieved for the twelve years they governed the state. They don’t talk about those things because they know that those years were wasted. They should find a way of connecting themselves to the people because media interviews do not vote in elections.”

The man is fake, controversial and diabolic.
He was formerly called "Anom na corner." After he was chased from Anambra state, he turns to Ebonyi to continue his deception.

Politics › Uwazuruike: Buhari Has Elevetad Nnamdi Kanu From A Nobody To A Hero In Prison by Youngadvocate(op): 4:42pm On Apr 09, 2017
Goddy Uwazuruike, aka Aka Ikena and the former President-General of Igbo Think Tank Tank group, in a chat with newsmen during the weekend said that the continued detention of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by Buhari's govt has elevated Kanu from the status of a mere agitator and a nobody to that of a hero.

According to him, the celebration of Kanu as a hero and the clamour for his release was born out of necessity and expediency, adding that the call for Kanu’s release and the subsequent hero status he had attracted can be justified by an allusion to an African proverb.

He said “If an individual on his way to work finds a man beating his child on account of disobedience, and the child is still sighted serving the same punishment in the evening, what would the passer-by tell the father? Of course he would wade in and say: ‘this is enough, stop it. It is enough. Who was Nnamdi Kanu before now? He was nobody. But suddenly during this detention, after various court have discharged him, he has become somebody. By government’s action, it has made him an authority.

“Remember some years ago, leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Chief Gani Adams, was arrested, just like the late NADECO leader, Chief Abraham Adesanya. But it got a stage that people shouted ‘Leave these people alone.’

“Similarly, we are calling for the release of Kanu, enough is enough. It has nothing to do with the 2019 elections.

“Nnamdi Kanu is not a threat to anybody. You have him in prison for owing a radio station but his detention has not stopped the radio station to stop broadcasting.”

“It is never too late to say the truth, even at the point of death. “Let me put it this way, anyone who keeps silence in the face of oppression and injustice deserves the worse treatment.

“Prof. Soludo, Prof Utomi and the governors have spoken and we are very happy and we call on all Nigerians to join in the call as well. If people are charged for treason because they spoke about injustice and oppression, then they are labeled enemies of the state, then you know what kind of government that is.” On how to effect the release, he said the Attorney- General of the Federation should advise the President that this treasonable felony trial will do him no good and the charge should be dropped. “And that is why we advocate the separation of the office of Attorney General from that of the Minister of Justice, the former answers to the people while the latter to the President”, he added.
