hammerP: IT IS JUST LIKE THE ONES IN EDO, BENUE AND CROSS RIVER.
WEN U MEET THEM, THEY WILL TELL U THEIR STATE NOT TRIBE AND EXPECT U TO KNOW THEY ARE YOUR BROTHERS.
AND WEN U TREAT THEM LIKE STRANGERS, SOME GO AWAY OFFENDED. The onus lie on you to make them feel comfortable to disclose their ethnic group to you. Only an immature person will get angry because his brother who's struggling in the state where he was sandwiches didn't joyously identify as Igbo. Circumstances make people to behave so. If he trust you, he'll let you know. When I was in one company in Nigeria, I met a couple of Igbos from Anioma. Ordinarily they won't speak Igbo to me. They were occupying big positions and much older than me. I understood the situation and knew what to do. It wasn't a friendly area for Igbos. Whenever I was alone with any of them, I speak Igbo with them. Initially they'll respond in English but as time went on, they started adding Igbo to it. I psychologically encouraged them such that they became free with me. This is how you should relate with them instead of being tensed. There are reasons why some of them are not confident to let out their ethnicity to anyone. What if you're one of those naive Igbos from SE who will tell them they're not Igbos simply because they're not from the SE? The onus is on you bro. |

My fellow Ndigbos, it's time to go back home, we've done enough by developing other regions, let's go back to our Alaigbo. Don't worry we will go back after Nigeria has been divided and not before. Support Biafra today so that you can have Lagos all to yourself. |

All those calling her a child don't know that the official age of maturity in Nigeria at present is 18yrs. She's considered an adult already. Let a virginity test be conducted on her since she claimed not to have done such a thing before. If she passes the test, she has a very strong case that might even see her acquitted. If she fails it, then her case has a low chance. |

Christistruth00: Apparently after the July revenge Coup Wellington Bassey was supposed to be the most senior Officer in the Army and not Ogundipe , so why didn't Ojukwu ask Bassey to become acting Head of State after Ironsi was kidnapped? Why was Ojukwu bothering Ogundipe after all Bassey the most senior Army Officer was still in the country that time and he was Commanding officer of 1 battalion division in Kaduna. It was because for some reasons, Bassey had been sidelined from the beginning even before Nigeria got independence. This I can see was that even the British didn't consider him for the top job. I wasn't around that time neither were you. All those who served with him didn't for once argued for him to be the top man. No one had written anything to that effect. The last Biritish Commander of the Nigerian Army Major General Christopher Earle Welby Everard mentioned four people he considered fit for that position with various considerations and recommendations and Bassey wasn't among the four of them. Even his far juniors both Ogundipe and Maimalari were considered for the post.

Dedetwo: The Bassey who was ahead of Ironsi and Ademulegun was Duke Bassey not Wellington Umoh Bassey who was commissioned in 1952. There has been a picture in circulation of the alleged pioneer Nigerian army officers, though not accurate, the rank of Duke Bassey was Major as did Ironsi and Ademulegun. From the date the picture was alleged to have been taken, Duke Bassey could not have risen only one step to rank of Lt. Col. in any army by 1966 while Gowon, Unegbe,Largema, Eze, Pam and Njoku who were Lts or 2Lts rose to the rank of Lt. Col. By the time the alleged picture was taken, the probable rank of Wellingtion Umoh Bassey should have been Lt. therefore the rank of Lt. Col. supposedly worn by Wellington Umoh Bassey in 1966 was in order. I suspected there were two Basseys as at that time but wanted to confirm. Max Suillon hinted on that when he wrote Bassey different from Wellington. Notice I rarely mention Wellington in my posts. The character that has been pushing this falsehood here is on a mission which is aimed at hurting even the people he claims to be informing. By creating further problems between Igbos and Efiks, who gains? Only the Yorubas who will left laughing in the corner in Western Nigeria while the Efiks who share border with Igbos will be in a foolish enmity with us. Just like the devils like they're having oppressed the minority tribes in the old western and thereafter lost them through a plesbecite, they've sworn to sow tars within the Eastern region. It's left for everyone to investigate all these allegations and make a decision thereafter. Meanwhile, terrorists from the north are flooding the South at present in high numbers. It doesn't bother the Yorubas and they're entirely unreliable. The Akwa-Cross people will be making the greatest mistake today entertaining any agent of discord to mess with their psyche as they'll be left with very low defence. |

Christistruth00: Can anyone who has the fear of God and calls on the name of Jesus Christ see the Army Seniority Bassey had over Ironsi and Ojukwu and truly believe he had not been cheated because he was a Eastern Minority Calabar man and therefore considered to be an Eyo-Ita boy ? His Career was deliberately sabotaged by Zik and his allies in power!!! According to Robin Luckham, Bassey was Commissioned in 1946 so it is even likely Wellington Duke Bassey's seniority was backdated from 1949. to 1946 because Bassey fought the 2nd World War in Burma as a Sergeant Major in 1944 , 2 years after Ironsi had joined the Army as a private in 1942. Here's another account of when Bassey was commissioned.

AZIKIWE the chief tribal warlord was the most senior political office holder from eastern Nigeria, if a man that so schemed out an Ibibio civilian man for him to rise why would he sanction one in the military? Just like what was happening in the Eastern Scholarship Board he made sure IBOs controlled every higher post! Was the Nigeria Army funding itself or the Federal Government? A man that vacated the position of the Premier of Eastern Nigeria to be President still made sure an IBO man succeeded him and still made another IBO to be Governor General AZIKIWE - President Michael Opara- Premier Eastern Region Akanu Ibiam- Governor General Aguiyi Ironsi- Head of State OJUKWU- Governor General How do you now expect AZIKIWE to promote or sanction any courses that will facilitate the promotion of one he sees as rival. The IBOs introduced tribalism into Nigeria military and others picked it up. Wellington Bassey under the colonial era merited every position he got not under the tribalistic Nigeria Army thanks to the very unforgiving and vengeful Ibos Taah gbafuo! The Willinks Commission exonerated Igbos of any foul play in the scholarship board. If it was Zik that denied him the opportunity to go abroad for courses to enable his promotion, was it also Zik that ensured Loius Edet became the first indigenous head of police? I ask again; Ademulegun was also promoted above Bassey. Was it Zik that did it? |

Zik and NCNC didn't even bother to press the case for Bassey's Promotions at all though he was also from the East and the most senior ,he was given a posting meant for a Captain and left there while his mates were going to international senior officers courses and Postings .All promotions beyond Major require political approval. Who were the others in contest for that same post with Ironsi? Was Bassey among them? Did Major General Christopher Earle Welby Everard- the last British Commander of the Nigerian Army even consider him as a replacement in 1965? Where was Ademulegun all these time? |

olalat: yea, you are right! I only wonder why we never had awka Enugu express way print media all these while. That thing dey vex me. Does it mean no printers around that side or what. It was simply because of the war. The Eastern region was the fastest growing region in West Africa. Michael Okpara was building the region excellently. Port Harcourt under him was developing astronomically. He built the presidential Hotel, moved Shell headquarters from Owerri to PH and industries were springing here and there. There were less Igbos in Lagos then because we had our commercial city which we were proud of. Our print media route would have been Enugu-PH express media and the world would have been trooping to the Eastern region to do business and other engagements. You Yorubas would have enjoyed your Lagos all to yourselves. |

Even a toddler knows that the army carries more weight than police.between buratai and the igp,who carries more influence? We don't need your fake love impostor. Bring all you got and we will trash it here. Ademulegun who was Ironsi's mate(just next to him) was equally promoted above Duke Umoh Bassey. Why was it so? You think you can just bring up a sensational topic aimed at creating a false narrative against Igbos and turn around to claim love for the same people? You must be a toddler to think we can't smell you out. The question should have been: why was Bassey's juniors promoted above him? He did not go for any international assignment whether the peace keeping mission in Congo nor any course in England to improve himself. Some of his juniors did those and Ironsi was the first black man to lead the UN peace army to quell the fighting in Congo. He was even given the rank of 'major general' for that position which was later reverted back when he returned to Nigeria. The information is there in the archives if any serious person wants to know the truth. We the new generation of Igbos especially IPOB members will puncture all your lies against Igbos and set the records straight. |

Christistruth00: That seems to be part of the plan by Zik and NCNC to stagnate Bassey's Army Career because he was from Calabar and seen as an Eyo-Ita boy , they didn't want him to be in a position to head the Army before Ironsi. He was abandoned in a Captains posting for years without any good reason while Ironsi his junior was sent to the Imperial defence College in the UK and other senior officer courses and Postings. To be honest these type of intrigues still happen in Nigeria today look at how Tanko Mohammed became CJN for example. Where was Ademulegun(Ironsi's) mate all these while? Was he sidelined too by Zik because he was Awolowo's boy an ofem.manu? We will trash all your lies here.
