Lajet:If your reason for leaving IPOB is because of his arrogance, then you're not yet ready for freedom. We know ourselves very well that our opinions are very strong yet we must not forget the most important goal which is freedom. Since you left IPOB, what effort have you been putting to see to our freedom from the evil contraption called Nigeria? If you've not been doing anything to that effect, then you're part of the problem. Daily our people are being killed by the useless Nigeria security men and you're very comfortable with it. Some of us may disagree with MNK on certain things but because our goal is the same, we stick together till the end. |
Lostz:Some tribes joined us. If you're ignorant of this, it means you don't know your history or you're not from any of those tribes. |
Lostz:Lol. You can tell me to keep it in Igboland and you'll be right. Which SE? The one created by enemies of Igboland? Go and sit down. |
valirex:Ok. I'm not Itsekiri so can't speak for them. |
Dikebuka:Simple. I don't understand all the blabbing here. IPOB is not forcing anyone. Make your choice. Meanwhile, fulanis are bringing their suffering people from other West African countries to come and possess land in Nigeria. They've killed thousands from all regions. It doesn't bother all these ones. They're being shortchanged yearly but it doesn't bother them. All that bothers them is the one that has neither shortchanged nor killed them. IPOB will continue to push for the emancipation of Biafrans and others who seek our assistance for mutual benefits. Let those around us use their hands to remove themselves. Posterity will vindicate us. Any Igbo man insulting IPOB is daft. You may disagree with some things that we do. State it and endeavour to convince us not insulting those holding the axe in defence of our land. Ask your self what you have done or have been doing to help Igboland from the numerous enemies seeking our destruction. IPOB galvanized our people and world reknown media houses carried the news with journalists flooding our region to follow up our agitation. You just sit in your comfort zone and insult us. Shame on you. If you totally disagree with us, start your own agitation without insults and do those right things. We are all fighting for the emancipation of our land. IPOB broke off from Massob but didn't insult them. Massob exist till date. We don't have to insult them despite our perceived loss of steam from them. Do likewise and let's get the freedom. |
Kinematics:Only an ignorant Igbo man will claim that there's nothing like Niger Delta. However, when you talk about the a country to be formed by the minorities of the South, it has not been agitated for so doesn't exist. I believe that's what they're saying. When they say the Edo man has nothing in common with the Cross Riverians and Akwa Ibom, it's just the truth. Countries are easier to form with people you've had a shared history. If the purported Niger Delta should be taken seriously, then it must be agitated for. The Niger Delta of Adaka Boro and the present Niger Delta is not the same. Furthermore, the present Niger Delta expected for the Southern minorities should be strictly minority lands. This is what they're saying and there's nothing wrong with that. Honestly, I wonder the kind of fear some of you are having about the Igbos. Is it that we're going to kill you people or what? We have our lands and resources and have gone global opening frontiers for international businesses. What's the fear all about? Is it that you don't trust us to develop the land and give everyone opportunities? I wonder. |
Blackking98:This Biafra doesn't need your support to be achieved... that's the difference between then and now. Just vote against Biafra and your land and people will be excluded from her. Is there any arrogance in that? The Akoko Ondo part of Ondo state voted against being in Midwest region during the 1963 plebiscite. This is how this referendum shall be. We're not important but will not take because of assumed few misguided persons like you to leave the majority of your people who want out of Nigeria. Clear our doubts that majority of your people don't want Biafra by starting up your own agitation for your accepted country. Is that arrogance too? |
Blackking98:Lol. We will include you in the referendum unless you start agitating for your own country. Better start now to agitate for your own country then we will remove you from Biafran map. Let the world know you want your own country then we IPOB will adjust. Your popularity among your people will force us to readjust to reality. We know that lots of guys here like you are either not from the ND or are from the vocal minority. So, show us your popularity. |
Rodwave:I'm proudly an IPOB member Truly we don't need them but we won't just throw them away because of the long historical connection we have with lots of them. This is how IPOB see it. We include them for the referendum. Let it be them that will reject it and seal their fate. It is not like they're enjoying Nigeria and we are dragging them. They're suffering too and the confusion among them is too much. Some of them whose eyes have opened know that Biafra cannot be half as worse as Nigeria. The little enjoyment they're having is because of the Igbo presence which will be evident after our exit. They'll run for their lives leaving their lands behind. Guess which country they'll run to? Same Biafra they rejected. Do you see how the northern Christians are seeking for Igbo assistance? They've learnt the hard way. Appreciate IPOB... it's not easy. Do you know how many attempts to bribe the leadership that we rejected? Asari after the pressure has received money and moved to Benin republic. What has changed in the ND since then? |
KingJa:Wow... I spent sometime in Odigbo LGA and was even at Araromi Rubber Estate. Which community are you in the LGA. I didn't know there were Ijaws in the LGA. |
valirex:Igbos recognize all the nations in Southern Nigeria. What we don't recognize is the boundaries created by an enemy shortly before the Biafran war. We include majority of the ethnic groups around us that we feel share cultural beliefs with us. It's left for them to reject it at the referendum. At present, non of them is agitating for a country so you don't expect us to tell UN to include another country on the ballot. If any group or tribe wants a country, they can start agitating now to be recognized. Then, they can be put on the ballot. It's not IPOB job to do that for you. As a matter of fact, we expect a couple of tribes to vote to remain in Nigeria. It's their fundamental human right just like it will be ours to reject them when they'll flee the death that will brought upon them after our departure. |
valirex:Itsekiri will decide where they want to belong and we prefer they choose Nigeria. The referendum shall be for Biafra only because only Biafrans are agitating and discussing with the powers that be. It's gonna be Biafra or not. Those who don't want Biafra will remain in Nigeria. After Biafra has been established, they can start agitating for their own country and choose whatever name they want which is non of our concern. The best advise I'll give them is to start agitating for Niger Delta country now and make moves for it too. That way, when referendum is approved, Niger Delta can be put on the ballot. |
AdaoraNK:May God bless you. A gwakatagom Pazienza maka I ghasa mkpuruaku na ebea mana onaro aghota. Tell me: who gains from this back and forth here? Non of us down South. Ignore the dissident voices on nairaland and focus on Biafra. Those groups who choose not to be with Biafra can remain in Nigeria. It's not us that will agitate for them. We've bled both physically and fiscally fighting for our emancipation. Few ITKs here oblivious of the urgency of the mission are just yapping. 2023 you will lose again then you start crying to the amusement of your enemies. I believe in Biafra because I know that there's no future in Nigeria. In fact, death awaits majority of the people through the terrorism from the north. How all these simpletons easily forget this and quarrel among themselves down South beats my imagination. IPOB is doing the right thing. Let any group who's not in support of Biafra openly reject or vote against it in the referendum. That way, they'll be stuck in Nigeria and feasted upon before they even have the chance to start agitating. Besides, fighting for freedom is not easy. Those minority tribes will realize it once we're gone. Only foolish Igbo men condemn IPOB because if they know what role IPOB have been playing, they'll shut up. You may disagree with certain policies of the group but it's never enough to start entertaining your enemies. Nothing has shaken Nigeria to her foundation like IPOB yet one some armchair critics who haven't made any worthwhile effort to bring change for Igboland will be here talking nonesense. Hie nu asaa n'anya. |
KingJa:Are you from Ese-Odo LGA? Ijaws Apoi or Arogbo? |
The message from the Prof. is coded. His threat is an indication that they can try to spread it to the South too as they can't imagine leaving other regions to live in peace. Buhari himself said so in his statement about 3yrs ago. They can push infected people or goods down South by any means. Southerners need to be very vigilante of anything coming from the north from now hence forth. It's no longer safe to trust any engagement with them. Failure to heed this warning will see the South suffering the same fate as Kano. Though sad as it may be, Kano's situation can be remedied if sincerity is brought forward. Let the state government admit that the situation is dire and seek wholistic assistance and not just money. Ganduje is so insincere and to him, everything is money and politics just like the average Hausa/fulani. The prof should not covertly threaten other people who were cautious to protect their regions when they sensed danger. He should blame their leaders in Kano and the North West. |
Iamgrey5:That's purely an error by the contributor of that Wikipedia write up. The pages I attached were well researched works and they confirmed the Gedevis to be non-Yorubas. You've just been presenting one wikipedia page on this particular subject since. I had to do further investigation to prove to you that the Gedevis were not Yorubas. |
Iamgrey5:Your lies are very evident to any avid follower of this discourse. The Gedevis are not Yorubas and their land was exactly where Abomey(capital of Dahomey) was built. Even when you look at the Benin Map, you'll see that Ketu is far on the East while Abomey is far to the West. The Ketus are Yorubas no doubt. I'll attach pages to clear this once and for all. The Gedevis are not Yorubas hence the Fon people had the heritage of the Ajas and Gedevis plus other tribes they conquered subsequently. I maintained that they only paid tribute to Oyo but still exercised a level of self governance as they continued controlling the trade at the coast. I'll attach pix too. As for Porto Novo, you lied again. The question is this; who founded the city? Is it not an Aja Warrior? Who were the first kings of the city? The Fons. Who is the present king of the city? A Fon.
|
7lives:Do you understand the displacement pattern of migration? This is what happened there? Can you tell me just one name shared between the Ewes and the Yorubas? They are not in any way similar. Not in language nor in culture. |
Iamgrey5:How am I contradicting myself? Show me here. You see jumping here and there will never cover up the truth. At no time did I say that Oyos didn't defeat the Fons. My point was that despite the initial defeat, the Fons still enjoined a level of control of their kingdom and only paid tribute to Oyo. This is fact in that despite being a tribute of Oyo, they will were still controlling the slave trade and export in the ports of Ouidah for their own profit. Do you contest this? I equally stated that the Fons became divergent from the Aja conquerors after they defeated the Gedevis(original owners of Abomey) and built it to become the new capital of Dahomey. They intermarried with this people to become Fon. Gedevis are not Yorubas in any way. Do you contest this? After their success in Abomey, they head down South to conquer their brothers in Allada then they proceeded to defeat the Ouidahs and started controlling the trade at the coast. Oyo army attacked and defeated their soldiers and demanded tributes. They didn't destroy their capital at Abomey. Did they? NO. This went on for decades until a more radical king emerged to galvanize the Fons and they revolted against the Oyos and defeated them thereby taking over other Yoruba subgroups in the region. As for Porto Novo, the history is very clear. It was formed by one of the three Aja Warriors and they've always produced the Kings (Ahosu) of the city except for few years when the Oyos were in control of the city. At present, the Fons control the city and the king is a Fon with the name Ayontinme Tofa IX. Yorubas still inhabit the city though and will refer to it as Ajase while th Fons will refer to it as Hogbonu. |
Iamgrey5:Wrong again. By the time the Dahomey was paying homage to Oyo, the Fon people already existm
Yes the Fon people had been formed independent of absorbing any Yoruba groups as their expansion into the Yoruba strongholds in SE was very limited as at that time. The key to the formation of the Fon is with the establishment of the capital at Abomey. This capital was formed on the lands of the Gedevi (another Gun subgroup) after the the Aja Prince Dakodonu killed the prominent Gedevi Chief known as Dan. The Gedevis are not a Yoruba subgroup in the region. However, they eventually incorporated other Yoruba subgroups after defeating them. A new culture developed with was an amalgam of the constituents group not just the Yoruba ones. The language however remained more Gun as ever. The pix shows the Yellow tribe as the Ewes whose language I've heard first hand and is similar with the Guns but not the same more like Yoruba and Igala. The Purple indicates the Fon but actually overestimated to cover the Ogus in Nigeria. The origin of the Ogus is from the green areas. I never said they conquered the Oyos, rather I said they defeated the Oyo army who initially had control over the region including other Yoruba groups. After the Oyos were pushed out, the Fons took control of the indigenous Yoruba groups till this day. |
FrLukas:Lol. Did I strike a nerve?... I smell blood. Remember you're free to be a spectator in such discussions. Failure to abide by this will have you facing a barrage of hard knocks. |

The whole point is that you're neither from any of the groups hence should be a spectator and at best can ask questions for clarification. We never asked for your opinion. Listen, inferences can be drawn from instances so next time hesitate before giving instances. Don't tell us what someone said if you don't want us to tell you what we think too. Finally, don't pokenose on threads you know nothing about. |
Iamgrey5:The same page from where your first uploaded pix emerged is from where this pix of mine came. The Fon people were originally known as the Aja people and they migrated in different waves. Initially, the Oyos were defeating them but later on, they defeated the Oyos and took over the other Yoruba territories in the region. They later morphed into the Fon after defeating many other tribes and incorporated them into their control. This is what I've been saying and their language was not much affected. The Ogus are the ones that fled their original settlements in Allada and Ouidah towards the Benin/Nigerian borders during the Aja conquest.
|
Ejusni:Good. Now, you neither Anioma nor Igbo which gives you no ground to barge in and start issuing threats. Anioma is not Esanland neither did anyone mention Esan throughout the whole discourse therefore it was very rude of you to have sounded how you did. Your proposal still doesn't have a basis because you have no ancestry among any of the two groups. However, I'll give you the benefit of doubt by hearing you out only on the condition that you're knowledgeable enough about the two groups to be able to make a constructive contribution. Therefore, you're permitted to bring your 'approach' on the Anioma issue to the fore for our deliberation. |
Iamgrey5:Lol. I can't lie over what is as clear as the sun. So you mean that the Aja conquerors as the page you uploaded called them are Ogu(Egun) people and the Yoruba groups merged to form the Fon people? Does it make sense to you? My point is clear that there are the original Fon people whose capital is at Abomey. They moved South and displaced/defeated the Ogus who now ran towards the Yoruba lands to the SE of Benin republic. A lot of mixture happened there and the Fons still ruled over those lands incorporating most of them to become Fons. This doesn't take away the origin of the conquering Fons originally from Tado in SE Togo. Therefore, don't ever claim that the defeated Yorubas formed the Fons. It's not true. Even the Fon language is not even close to Yoruba language. This is a further proof to the originality of the Fon language. |
Iamgrey5:You're the ignorant one. How can a group of Aja conquerors not be the founder of the Fon people? You want to claim that Yorubas who were defeated are partly the founders of the Fon ethnic group? Isn't it funny to the ears? Is just like saying that Fulanis who defeated the Hausa people will tomorrow be forgotten when discussing the new fused group they've become. In present day Fon territories, Abomey which was their original capital has no single Yoruba mixture. It's only in the Southern parts where they defeated Yorubas and the Ogus that you can see mixture of Yorubas.
|
Iamgrey5:My reference to the population of Ode Itsekiri was to prove that the Itsekiris were actually a small group and can't be the origin of the Yorubas like someone wanted to claim before. The Ijebus arrived there and met some smaller groups of people yet the population was very small. This is still why they're the smallest in Delta state today. |
Iamgrey5:Lol. Where was it written that Ewes and Ogu people are brothers? Like I wrote earlier, the only connection is that all of you are 'Gbe' speakers nothing more. As for Fon people, you lie again. So Fon language is a fusion of Yoruba(Ketu) and Egun languages? You're so funny. The dominant power in Benin republic is Fon and they did war with Oyo for a longtime until they chased the Oyos away from the territory and extended their influence to the coast swallowing other tribes especially in the infamous 'Whydah' today known as Ouidah. The Ewes were originally from the Ketu area but left when Oyos (Yorubas) put to much pressure on the area. The left to go settle in the Volta region of Ghana. While the Ogus were driven out of their original settlements in Allada and Ouidah by the Fons and they actually preferred the Oyos to the Fons. Read carefully the page your uploaded again. |
Iamgrey5:Re-read my post that you quoted carefully and you'll get my post. Archeological findings show that an area has been occupied earlier than other places. I pointed out that among all Yoruba/Yoruboid settlements, Kwara and Osun are the areas with the oldest archeological findings which confirms that they're the older settlements. How can a tiny Itsekiri territory (the smallest in Delta state without any archeological artifact be the true Yoruba origin? Highly improbable. Argue with intelligence mr man. That Nupe destroyed old Oyo(Katunga) or influenced the Yorubas there even confirms how old the settlement is. As at the the 16th century when the Portuguese visited 'Iwere'/Ode Itsekiri, the population was about 3000 people. Does it look like a birth place of the large Yoruba ethnic group? |
Ikechunna:Ikechunna, nno. Odogwu na Ahaba. Anam ekene. Otego kwa. Ke ebe I zoru onwei? |
Doc10q:Meka wene madu. Pls, always use Igbo and never Ibo. That was a colonial error that we've corrected over the years. Dalu Diali. |
