simplebb: Listing the four categories of hazards is like answering a theoretical exam question. I doubt the panel would ask to just list 4 "hazards" from nowhere. It must have been related to the work environment you are possibly interviewing for. In construction sites, especially for O &G, works are broadly classified into "hot and "cold" works. Most times, works related to steel fabrications are classed as "hot work" and there Are inherent hazards associated with it that are not present in cold works. So, you should have tried to narrow down the question to a particular work activity related to your field. |

simplebb: Hazards are broad! Even the hazards in construction sites are quite different depending on the activities. So, workplaces are different and the inherent hazards are different as well. |

Guys! don't allow the fact that you were bombarded with plenty questions deceive you were identified as a good candidate based on CBT score. These guys are humans and their attitude and mood changes. In my current job, when I got to the stage of interview with executive management, I didn't spend up to 10min before the interview ended. However, I eventually got the job. But guess what? after joining the company, nobody could believe my interview with the CEO was that brief and simple. A lot of my new colleague shared different interview experience with the CEO and how dramatic and a bully he can be. Fast forward to my NNPC interview; my panel was one of the panels even the HR were complaining that it was taking too long. It was the one of the panels for Engineers, but guess what, my interview was as brief as it could get. Summary: * I entered and greeted the panel and they responded with friendly smile. * Panel chairman apologized for keeping us late into the night that it is not normal for an interviewee who is already tensed to be kept waiting for that long. However, as he was apologizing, I in turn cut in and also show appreciation for their hardwork for having to stay that late to conduct the interview. We all got relaxed * Then they all introduced themselves of which I responded: Nice to meet you sir! after each intro. It was a panel of 6 persons (5 interviewers + the secretary). The panel chairman na Northerner. * next question, in 5min, please introduce yourself. He was very strict in the timing as once he realized I was adding superfluous items to my introduction, he quickly cuts in and reminded me of my time. * Then comes a question from my field: assuming I was involved in a project but later realized that a particular column in the building after construction was failing or cracking. What would I do? I gave my answer without hesitation and he nodded and said he was glad I could remedy the situation. * Next question from him was that I should give a run down on how I would go about executing a project of for example, the NNPC towers from start. I gave my response and I received positive vibes back from them. * Then the other panelist asked me to name the hazards I could find in a typical construction site and give control measures. Luckily, I have had construction experience in the execution of a gas plant project as my first job. I knew quite a lot about HSE which I delivered. * Then comes the situational question from one of the panelist that as a supervisor in a team; what would I do to move staff from a position of non-performance to better performance. Luckily as well, I had taken some courses on organizational behaviour. I was able to give some academic response as well. * Eventually, panel chairman thanked me and said I could ask a question. I asked a question on what was the difference between NETCO and one of the operating units in NNPC which seemed to have overlapping functions. They explained extensively and we had some good conversation. * Panel chairman gave a closing remark and said you would hear from us. This is for posterity.....o. I believe I performed well but I am honestly and sincerely praying for God's grace 5 Likes |

Kayceenaz: What's wrong with this guy? You think you are abiding by the rules of English with the way you write? Listen! English is simply a language of communication. Using big words unecessarily spoils the flow of the communication and it is not a measure of intelligence of you may be thinking that way. E.G, your last sentence could have simply flowed better if you just replaced "implicitly" & "explicitly" with the more common words - "directly" or "indirectly". Have taken a language test before? You should try with this your pattern of writing to know how far. 20 Likes |
