somalia9: considerin how many somali buisness men are killed every year in south africa, i wouldnt want a dime from those apes, apertheid ended too soonWhy don't you post that number. And we not giving it to a ungrafully american but starving people in somlia(a country you know nothing about) because they rell messed thing up for them self. |
patriot4: I think if you ask any military analyst out there then he will tell you that your navy is a troll. Please go and find a proper milltary analyst to say that. Because the navies of Germany, england, USA, india, china, brazil, extra do not seem to think so. We did not learn any thing from them. It part of our regualy milltary exersizezs. Brazil, india and germany are regulaer vistors to our coast. And not once have we ever been trained by them. No one not even our own forces have ever found our subs in our local waters. The people taking part give a dame. If you where in the millatary you would know this. They vital for a milltary. That not support by first hand experiance. We each have areas where we are better than each other. Nigeria training with the brits, uk is more being trained than a full blown war game that test readness. Since when are our subs rusty? Even the 40 year old protea hydrographic survey boat is not rusty. |
patriot4: As I said before, I considered joigning the french armed forces. And aemrica has LAV 25s. Are they copping canda, or how about the fact the american put a german gun in the M1A2. No NATO is not USA guid lines. But somthing called NATO standard. Many non NATO countries follow it. Never heard of somthing called 7.62mm nato or 5.56mm nato. It is a police that allowed for sharing of resources. So a germain infantry battlion could be air droped french ammo from a american built plan operated by the raaf. And it would work. Since the supplys would be conpatbil, the pallet loaded the same, and the procediary will be more or less the same. Al so has to do with data link. A us radar can provid info to german jets Of course it is not 100% the same. The brits use the 120mm rifeld gun where most other nato countries use smooth ball. But each country has there own doctrian. You can see this in there wepaons. |
Henry120: Andrewza, this is for you. Ignorance is no excuseCan I not call that propergander. I mean it is nigerian and every thing from a SA source is propergander. And why do artical keep saying that nigeria ecconmy is dependent on oil. With out it they would not be poor. Do you relize that it is not just phyiscal oil that is seen has part of the oil ecconmy. There is infustrucer(roads, docks, pipelines) support industry(suppling the industry) extra. |
patriot4: you are quite delerious.Since when are how subs rusty? And traing with he brazlian navy says other wise. France was the first NATO country to look in to a fast, easy to deploy mobile wheel based force. Now America has the stiker(or a lav25mm with a 12.7mm instead yet heaveir due to unneeded tech. Have you ever spocken to french collonal. Because that dose not sound like the french. |
all4naija: When were they purchased, my friend? Please, post images and links here to prove your comment.I would like to be embarrassed.i am not going te repost them for you, go through the thread has for the roland sam, it has a decstion range of only around 20kms, uses out dated and easy to jame radar and of no threat to a high fast flying gripen, even when it was new a high flying fast target was not phased by the roland. but other sam's and fighters would forve a target to fly low and in the range of the roland. Nigeria dose not have the means to force SAAF to fly low, the roland can thus be destroyed from out side it's wepaons(and even it's radars) range with LGBs |
patriot4: If you had been to a french military barrack and had talk to a french colonel then you would know that the US is the model for all other Nato countries who by the way spend much less than the US in defence and try as much as possible to copy cat the US armed forces. In other words they are all incredibly influenced by the US, both in training and in Equipment. It is Wise to say that if the US didn't train its soldiers in fighting against submarines then the rest of Nato countries did not.i take it you have never spoken to a french senior officer then. if any thing america has trieed to copy france with there striker brigade. and i have had conversanstions with milltary personal from NATO countries(both officers and ncos) so i speak with first hand experiance. brazil modeld a lot of it's traing on western(nato) levels. any case braize has not fared any better vs SAN subs |
agaugust: the road to Freedom begins with the TruthAnd that truth is SAAF affirmative action report slated April 23, 10:08 am A report stating the South African Air Force's (SAAF) affirmative action policy will result in nothing more than higher aircraft crash statistics has been trashed by sections of the wider community of aviation enthusiasts, writers and observers. That you don't read. |
patriot4: Look Nato is ruled by the US and it follows the guideline of the US armed forces. So if the US neglects something then you can conclude that all NATO countries neglect that same thing. What a foolish nostion. The USA dose not diced how each nato country should operate. No if they wanted traing they could use germany, sweden, france, UK. Them going to china for aid is now the most foolish thing you said. Going to india, why they did no better vs SAN subs, who do you think train brazil. I ask again. Who is better at ASW than NATO and why do you say so. Remember the USA is not NATO. Each country runs there milltray difrrent, with diffrent doctrains. |
patriot4: MEND is enough for your entire armed forces.this foolish though has been mentioned but i never really asked the fools why they thought so. |
patriot4: As it says in the report, anti submarine warfare was neglected by the USA.They still got a lot better asw sytems and traing than you. USA is not nato only one USN ship was part of the task force. That report(forum) it self is suspect the USN put a lot of effort in to ASW. |
all4naija: Please, can you post any of your newly acquired military hardware. I doubt SA has purchased nor produced anything for its military recently. Are you on drugs or somthing. We buy new stuff all the time. Not all of it is reported in the news since we buy in house. We started a block upgrade of our radios to the new data link sytem, Badger IFV, laser guided bombs, upgraded all of our strike craft, a-darter AAM, starstreak SAM, umkontio ground based SAM, should I go on embarsing you. |
patriot4: Nato is not good against submarinesThat is the most foolish nostion I have ever heard. If NATO is not good at ASW who is. |
all4naija: Please, don't come and invade Nigeria with your ancient Submarine. Hehehehe....Even our old daphen class are enough for your navy. |
somalia9: their is only one famine in somalia for the last 40 years........and its international aid organizations( the west) and the turks who are helping. Not no gorillas who are bantu. So you don't know of the millions of rands in AID SA sends to somlia. |
saengine: And people are expected to have a debate with someone after they make such foolish statements. The Nigerian Navy is better than the American Navy? . The sad thing is you probably believe every word you're saying.in other words saladana, cape town, port elzbith, east london, durban, and that new port(for got the name). it is a total of 6 ports and the area suronding them. SA has a few river boats though for external operastion and flood rescue. defense review calls for a ipv for every port. |
agaugust: nothing special in new south African navy small boats, they are still far behind Nigerian navy in this area where Nigerian navy rules the world even better than American navy.It was not really the boat that I was intristed in showing. More the CTA. |
Henry120: I'm not going to that link. Kindly post the information you want to share on this thread in full, and then post a link for verification.Cybicom Atlas Defence offering small boats to South African Navy by Guy Martin, April 25, 1:09 pm Cybicom Atlas Defence (CAD) and Rhino Marine are offering their new nine metre long polyethylene boats to the South African Navy for duties like harbour patrol, boarding operations and special forces deployment. This reflects a new partnership bringing together a boat builder and a mission system integrator to deliver a local optimized turnkey solution, CAD said. The new nine metre demonstrator boat is currently undergoing sea trials and will be made available to the Navy for evaluation, CAD said, with a demonstration scheduled to take place in Cape Town tomorrow. The boat is a high-speed monohull designed by Rhino Marine in co-operation with Icarus Marine. It is manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which has a very high strength to density ratio, and is foam-filled. The nature of HDPE results in the boat hulls requiring minimal maintenance, CAD said, as they require no painting, do not corrode and can be repaired within 15-20 minutes. HDPE is only slightly more expensive and heavier than conventional materials but CAD believes that its low maintenance requirements will result in significant life cycle cost savings. The demonstrator boats currently come in three different variants: a small workboat, a multipurpose boat and a boarding boat. The boarding boat is powered by two 315 hp Yanmar Marine turbo diesels driving two Ultra jet propulsion units. The initial high-speed trials run by Rhino Marine have yielded a top speed in excess of 38 knots. According to Rhino Marine, the boats can be armour-plated up to NIJ level III (multiple hits from NATO 7.62mm) with negligible weight increase. The boarding boat can carry ten combat personnel plus three crew-members, that is two gunners and one coxswain. Rhino Marine has designed the boat family for a variety of mission profiles, such as harbour patrol, general sea boat work, boarding operations, Special Forces deployment, riverine patrol and diving support. According to CAD, there are numerous projects within the South African Navy that require small boats - the demand could exceed 80 small boats over the next four years. Some of the projects that require these vessels include Project Biro for offshore patrol vessels (which need boarding boats) and Project Hotel for a hydrographic survey vessel (which requires survey motorboats). The Navy will also eventually replace its Namacurra class boats. CAD will also offer the boats to other defence related customers, based both locally and internationally. One of the things that CAD will also be demonstrating is its prototype Compact Tactical Aid (CTA) system. This is designed to provide control and situational awareness for smaller boats that have been deployed from shore bases or mother ships. The mother ship or headquarters will be able to track own forces - something that can be done with a data link like Link-ZA. The CTA provides navigation information and also displays all information normally available on the plethora of dials, indicators and equipment front-ends equipping boat steering positions. It thus interfaces with radar, navigation units, video sensors, engines and other systems. The CTA can be configured with additional features like image and video transfer to the mother ship or base, sensor designation and weapon management. A full, integrated recording capability for all gathered data and image/video is provided. |
And the MI17 is not a attack helcopter. It is a transport helicopter but russian doctrain has them give there transport helicopters rocket pods. But it is no more a attack chopper than a gazze, alluet 3 or any of the helicopters in the transport, recc, uilty role that carry wepaons. ATE of south africa can mount AGMs to just about any european helcopter. Severial Iraq helcopters scout/light transport have them loaded. |
I don't think any boody siad nigeria was not looking at getting SU27. It is a populare air craft in africa and rusia is replaceing them meaning they going for cheap. They fast, manvorbil, reltivly cheap(has muilty role twin engine supersonic jets go) and have a good pay load SAAF bought the gripen because the old Cheeta C could not keep pace with the SU27(angola has a few). Hence we got the gripen a air craft built to fight SU27s and win. |
all4naija: And, lost 13 men. If it continues that way without fleeing as they did you will be loosing all your men to the 3000 rebel forces with 30 of their men still alive. Hehehe....First they never fled. And 13 deaths vs over 500. Next you assume that they would stay to fight after they took enough losses. Acctault they did stop fighting after taking heavy losses. |
agaugust: .Poor combat record? That just shows you crazy. SA has a great combat record streching from before WW1. And CAR has proven that our solders know how to fight. And nigeria dose not have the second best arty. They have only a limted number of mortas (less than 400) only a few MRLS and a lot of old towed guns. Only your SPH force is worthy of intrist. Nor are your AFV modern or high tech. Of nigerias tanks 2/3 are T55 and Vickers. Of your IFV/APC fleet on 47 are BTR3 the vast majorty a stery and local copies. Cobras and MRAPS make up the rest. You got a lot of small boats. That dose not mean you the best. Once a again you show more proof that you have no idea of what you talking about. |
all4naija: Doesn't this just affirmed what we have been saying? SA is known for showing off well polished military hardware. CAR incidence put a big hole in your military prowess recently.200 sa solders killed over 500 rebels. That not a dent it is a boost. |
agaugust: "South African Police are facing pressure on a related front. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate, a government watchdog, said it had received nearly 200 complaints from the arrested miners who said they had been assaulted and abused while in custody.Funny how the media jumps to conclusions before the invistegastion is over. |
agaugust: @andrewza did sleep throughout your so called military training? or you were recruited to Navy because of manpower shortage ?Did you for get the part where they used thos less lethal sytems. And the rioters ignored them. So you would hide in a armourd car and let the rioters free. You do know that the mine was a long way away from any major city. The nearst help was the army and they don't do less lethal. Your response here shows you not in touch with reality. Proscutors are not cops. Where do you come up with that lie. No the media blams the police and ANC. If they had asked the people down by me(most of whom are black) they would have been told the miners where stupid. And they where. |
agaugust: the whole world complained about the murder of over 100 workers at the industry dispute, not all the miners were armed innocent people died from south African police brutality.100? Where you geting your numbers. Yes there where unarmend people there. But they where not inocent. 10 people including 2 cops had all ready been killed before the charge. The poliece that open fired where not riot police. The riot ploce had fired off the tear gase and rubber bulliets not to mentsion water cannons. The rioters brook through that line and charged through a gap. The rioters had all ready killed 10 people including 2 cops. And they where not hungry. The plocie have yet to be found guilty of murder. If I was there I would have fired to. If a large crowed of armed, high aggrisve people is charging towards you what would you do. |
agaugust: Rules of war are NOT always followed. Israel breaks rules of war regularly in Palentine and kills innocent civilians to protect Israeli national interest and United Nations did nothing about it.Show me a case were isreal has targeted civlians not enemy forces in or near civlians or mistaken identy. Civlians die but the rules are there to stop solders from tarfeting civlians. Has nigeria has and dose do. You sure you in the defens industry. |
patriot4: "Army: 70 000 (+ 30 000 in reserve)70,000+30,000 gets you 100,000. |
agaugust: .Inocent civlians don't charg at poliece lines with macheties and spears, hack cops up, fire at cops with stolen fire arms, take muitie that they think will stop bulliets. |
patriot4: Andrewza, I think you are wrong again:ISS/Janes even the 2012 defense review say other wise. Angola is a very rich country with a lot of oil and a smaller populastion. |
Angola With a budget of around 3billion US it spends around the same of that of nigeria. With a army of 100,000 navy of 1000 and air force of 6000 and 10 paramilltary it is not a small milltary. Angola all so has a lot of good equipment. Even though a lot of it is old. Angloan army Tanks There 200 T54/T55 make up the bulk of there armour. Though no match for modern tanks and AGMs they still a deadly treat when used in support of infantry. 50 T62 and 50 T72 are there heavy hitters. They all reported to operat T80/T84s no numbers given. Even with out the T80s Angola has a serris tank force. 600 BDRM-2 make up the light vechiles/recc list. Though old the BDRM is still a great means to move a 14.5mm MG around. IFV are of the BMP 1 and 2 varity with over 250. APC are of the BTR varity from 152 though to BTR80. Though they only have around 170 BTRS of all types. Angola has a vere large shortage in APC/IFV in respect to there size. Angola has a lot of artylery. In total 1408. Of them 750 mortas(500 of thos being 120mm) 16 SP(non of any worth to menstion. 552 towed and a total of 90 122m MRLS. AGMs in use is the comon AT-3 sagger. Air defense is mainly manpads (most the now useless vs modern milltary aircraft SA-7 but both SA- and SA-16 are used. Over 450 AA guns from 14.5 to 57mm are used. Over all angolas army has a shortage of AFV for there infantry, no modern AT wepaon and mostly out dated Air defense. But a large tank force and large number of artlyrie units make it a threat. Angolan navy. Let's just say it more a coast gaurd and move on. Angolan Air force Now this is a threat. 14 SU-27. Now we could leave it at that. But the have more. 18 mig 23ML 8. Mig 23BN 20 mig 21 14 SU22 D 12 SU24 8. SU25 14 hinds That is a lot of combat aircraft. Even if most are non op(and most are) they can still field a stron force. Those SU27 a lone are SAAFs bigest threat and the resone the gripen was bought to rplace the cheeta C. |
in no time.
