jjxxx: You are very correct. U truly are into solar. Many customers prefers installers that gives a cheap quotation. I do encounter this problem always. The funniest thing is that they still run to me for help after installing a cheap solar system from another installer. One thing with me is that I do not compromise quality. If u can’t afford my quotation, it’s good u find an installer that will do a cheap job for u and u cry later. So I have my reputation. All I have installed for boldly recommend me. Now imagine using 4 panels of 280w for two 200ah batteries. Except the user is using very few load during the day. 280Wx4 is 1120w. And panel is not 100% efficient. So u can not generate up to 1120w power from that panel. Let me stop here to avoid long note. Thank u for ur input, u know the work. That's the thing they always fall victim. And the cost of rectify cost double what they should have spent in the first place. Don't ever compromise quality my brother. Those that wants quality will locate you. |

Compliant: Wow
At least if no money for lithium battery one should get with cell instead of dry cell Buy tubular (flooded batteries). Make sure you install outdoor or in a ventilated environment. |

When it comes to solar power, you want to be looking at three things which are Storage Generation Consumption.
Personally I tend to tackle storage and consumption very well.
For storage, you can't get it right without quality batteries and trust me they don't come cheap. The problem is majority installers use the cheap battery options so they can offer a better deal. You all know Nigerians will always go for the cheapest option, they compromise quality and cry later.
Consumption: just assume you are using prepaid meter, you don't want be to always run down your units everytime(same scenario plays for invertes) . For this to happen you have to take into consideration low consumption appliances. I'm talking about using led TV's(less than 100w) instead of LCD(250w or more) , going for low consumption fans(40w) instead of the industrial fans like ox ( they gulp 150w or more). Imagine one ox fan will power 4 to 5 energy efficient fans. Use led bulbs ( 5w,10w). Infact whenever I'm buying a new appliance, I go along with my wattsmeter. This help me measure the consumption of the device I'm buying. I get to choose efficient devices this way.
Generation: this part is you having enough solar panels to serve your day and night consumption. It serves your day loads and also stores enough power in your batteries to use at night. The cycles goes on and on and on like that.
we can help you design solar power to suit your needs.
We also sell solar power equipments such as solar panels , inverters, charge controllers , lithium batteries and any other installation accessories you could think of.

NothingDoMe: Yes the rain helps. My problem with rain is sometimes you get something like the picture below.
I guess it becomes a problem as the solar panel ages and several layers of dusts acccumulate This can be annoying. It happens when the rain just showers lightly. |

Was also told dry cell battery life span is around 2-3 years while lithium battery is around 5years but I dont know how true it is The lifespan of lithium batteries are above 10 years |

You are the urchin here not me. The same stupldity I spoke of is what you are perpetrating. You can look through my post, I will never support Tinubu, Atiku & even Obi.
Obi was a PDP member for a decade, he was part of their system, I don't think a change of party means he is now a saint. He has no antecedents and I see him as a hypocrite.
Also, like I said earlier, most of you have bad mouth and will NEVER garner the support of other Nigerians by insulting people on a daily basis. I would rather vote for Sowore than to vote for Obi. Do you understand that to change a system, you have to be in the system. Seyi makinde is my favourite politician and he's in PDP. Despite the witchcraft of PDP,seyi makinde excelled. You have to be in the system to change the system. This negates your saying " obi was in PDP for 10years ". All that should matter is the candidate. If I give you the job to change policing in Nigeria, you will have to be inside the system to do it effectively. My 2cent |

GeorgeD1: brother, it's actually bad practice installing flooded lead acid within your living space. if you have a verandah, consider moving the batteries there. just build a metal cubicle to shield them from rain. you can leave the inverter itself within the house. the only downside will be your long cable run from battery to inverter. better safe than sorry. besides, the corrosive effect of h2 gas may be unnoticeable initially but over time, your electronics may suffer for it. just my thoughts. Even the metal rack suffer rust, if the inverter is directly on top of the rack where gasses hit the bottom part. The bottom part of the inverter will suffer rust as in serious one. |

You will inhale gas from your tubular batteries if it's inside your house. Cross ventilation will not save you. Who still opens windows and curtains in their houses wide open like they are in the village. |

samnaija: Cross ventillation in simple terms making a pathway for air exchange. If you like place it sitting room , dinning room so far there is air exchange, simple open window, it is ok. mine was originally placed in a veranda outside, I had serious problems with dust, rain and rodents. When I got more batteries I placed all the batteries in shed with one window wide open, so far no problem , no dust, no rain issues and no rodents.. Lol he's lecturing me about cross ventilation. Most inverters are installed in rooms, corridors with little or no access to ventilation infact any small space you find, even under staircase. People use extractor fans or just get a standing fan for cooling. It's difficult to get that space unless the house was designed and planned to accommodate inverters from scratch. We manage to get installation space that's having one window not to talk of two windows that are positioned for cross ventilations. Anyways my experience is based on city installations, I'm sure there are houses in some areas in Nigeria where you have all the space and windows. |

samnaija: I don't understand, so an open window is not in Nigerian houses Two open windows where you can have space for your inverters in Nigerian houses. How many of such do we have. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by zeestone99(m): 7:24pm On Feb 10, 2023 |
samnaija: A very ventillated area of your house is okay. So far there is cross ventillation , tubular batteries can be placed anywhere indoors. Preferably close to an open window. None there less it is ok indoors. How many houses have such cross ventilations. |

contease: Greetings everyone...
Just something to share and perhaps, any further enlightenment on this...
Considering the concern on the gas emitted by Tubular batteries and due to my constraints on having to assemble my batteries within the flat, I had to use H2S gas tester to be sure if it triggers but it didn't even though the batteries are in an enclosed make-shift cabinet..
So to makeup for the heat up, I had to install a fan that serves as an extractor and I could tell, the temperature therein is pleasing...
Does anyone have any objection to the whole concept please...
See image. It's actually bad practice to install tubular batteries indoor. For me personally I can't sleep well at night knowing the kind of gas that emanate from such batteries. Outdoor installation or nothing. |

Dam5reey: Nope as I switched on the Grid, It switched to NO battery mode as it works without battery.
It was PV (High VOC)that was trying to wake the BMS, but it went to fault after 2 tries and says no battery.
And worked without battery Good. Exactly how it should. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by zeestone99(m): 5:26pm On Feb 05, 2023 |
Dam5reey: Just to add based on Daly BMS i use, if LVD is reached you will have to disconnect load for few seconds for BMS to restart, last time this happened my inverter went into fault mode as it tries to wake BMS but Discharge FET is off so its seeing No battery.
Incase of HVD, there is no issue. Inverter stops charging but still have Battery connected as it still see battery with Discharge FET turned on. See attached If your mains had come on when your inverter is sensing no battery. Chances are high it could blow up the FETs. |

drizzypat: Hello so today my tech engr came in.
He said it's the inverter he turned it on and there was a spark sound from the inverter itself, he then suggested to have it fixed that it'll be favorable
My only issue now is will the cost to have it fixed not be up to half the must inverter itself?he said it's a board thing.
What do suggest guys..
Spend to fix or result to getting another ...
I'm talking on a long TERM basis
I am completely off grid! @NiyiOmoIyunade @zeestone99 @mangolpupa @jonescosmo Sorry I missed this. When it comes to hybrids, the major damages are the MOSFETs (Majorly due to overload), which are very easy to fix but cost lots of money. The MOSFETs cost around 3k each or a bit less. We have about 26 of them and all needs to be changed anytime some gets damaged. We also have cards issues ( lightening strike) So you need to protect your hybrid inverters very well. I mean input and output. Some people make mistakes protecting only the input. That's very wrong. Get your Avr (tomzn and others) , spds, mcbs etc. You will be fine. We have hybrids that are running since 2018 without issues. We also have others with minor issues such as fan replacement. |

QuoteJust1nce: Hello boss, should have messaged you but i said let me do research on the sorotec you mentioned, unfortunately cannot really find any video reviews of it in action, except the advertising ones by the manufacturers the only thing i see so far is that it needs 120V before the CC part starts to work. Is this true? If yes, it could be up to 10am or 11am before it kicks in?? Remember that this is for inverter --> panels connection (without batteries) Can you shed more light on the workings of this inverter? Thanks No the cc doesn't take 10am to wake. It wakes up very very early. If u r going the batteryless route, u have to compensate with lots of panels. |
