Please guys,how can i stop my house from using PHED during the day even though there is power.It's now that the tariff has been increased by over 100% that they now give us light.I want to be using solar in day time and PHED at night.Can i put my changeover switch on neutral during the day to achieve this.I don't want my meter reading unless i want it to.

A while back in the UK, you would get discount (paid for by the government) on solar products if you decide to go green. They pay you half and loan you the remaining half which you pay back over sometime.

In Germany, the citizens have completely gone alternative that the grid power is lying redundant and unused. The German government is even appealing to the citizens to patronize grid power at very subsidized rate.

Remember the days of PWM charge controllers and all we could achieve was having lots of strings 2 x 5, 2 x 9 configurations of solar panels to achieve high charging current. Then came MPPT charge controllers and higher Voc panels and we started talking about 3 x 3, 4 x 3, 12 x 6 config etc. When technology moves, we move. The trend is your friend as borrowed from another parlance.

Since we don't have the data sheet, we can only just make assumptions though. One thing is certain, the 810w panels will reduce the BOS components, which in turn will drive down the cost of an install. Using 3 units of 380w panels to achieve same result as 1 unit of 810w isn't an efficient way to go. The former has more cabling that may cause voltage drop and losses as against a system that already has all that wiring worked into the unit.

We will wait to see the finer details of this panel to see what extra benefits it brings, but I already suspect it would be worth considering as it will most likely change most of our present design considerations.
