Of course. You need one school right? How about MIT On a serious note, there are thousands of schools in the US that have scholarships for that program. Do some due diligence and research. No one knows your strengths except you. Maximize them. Cheers. Ehimare55: Please guys do you know of a school I can get maybe scholarship for PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Information Technology. Thanks |

You can use anyone’s bank statement as POF. As long as you are able to convincingly explain to the VO why that person would be spending such funds for your studies. yusufmurry: Pls can one's in-law's bank statement be accepted as proof of fund at the embassy? |

You can select any date between the Earliest Admission date and Program Start date as stated on your I-20 to be safe. In your case this would be between June 30 and July 30. ThisGuy2020: Good day guys.
The program start date on my I-20 is 30th July while start of classes is 9th August.
In my DS-160, when I’m filling the intended travel date, do I pick a time that is before 30th July (Program start date), say 25th of July or I can pick a date that is after program start date but not before 9th August (start of classes) , say 1st August.
I know that it’s just an estimate but I no want make mistake dey my DS-160, so if anyone has an idea, please answer.
Thanks. |

ayarandy: @jintata @vickyrotex God bless you for untiring efforts at impacting on people. Please I have interest in cyber security and CEH. What's the learning path. I don't have any prior IT skill . Kind regards I recommend you start at the very beginning i.e CompTIA A+ or Network + (even the old CCENT or CCNA materials you can find online is great) in your case. While I agree that starting with CompTIA Sec+ may be the obvious choice since your interest is in Cybersecurity, but that assumes you have prior IT knowledge. Do get the very basics of Networking on lockdown before taking more of the heavyweights. If you don’t, you may be able to clear the initial hurdles. But I bet you, the further you go, the more you’ll see that adequate understanding of fundamentals matter if you intend to make a career in Cybersecurity. |

Since you’ll be resuming this Fall, I think it’s a bit early to even apply for EA as it’s still well over 60 days before Fall resumption. Nevertheless, what’s done is done. 1. No harm in doing both in my opinion. 2. Just once per MRV fee payment. Diezmanstrasse: Hello everyone, I appreciate the support we’re all giving ourselves here. I’ll be resuming to an Ivy-L school with full ride financial support and fellowship this fall. After paying for SEVIS and MRV, I scheduled a visa appointment for February 2023, which was the only available date. I made the decision with the aim of applying for an emergency appointment to meet up with my August resumption date.
I would like to seek your comment on the following; 1. While filling for emergency appointment yesterday, I had technical issues, hence, my request was submitted without my support documents upload (I-20, Sevis, and admit letter). In such situation, would you advise that I send an email or call the embassy about this technical error?
2. How many times can one apply for emergency appointment?
Thanks. |

My agent keeps telling me that general isn’t accepted because it wasn’t stated and the fact that I’m going for study it definitely should be academic.... pls explain better to me The agent is wrong on this. IELTS General is accepted for NSE route but if you can take Academic to curb your fears, its ok. |

slyfran6: Does my CRS score matter? I took the mock test and my score came out 431. Is that a good or poor score? I am yet to formally start the express entry application though. Also, how much would I require to show as proof of funds if things worked out? Would I need to have it stacked up? I don't have a master's degree and I'm not very inclined to further education. I have the best global certifications relevant to my career and which are relevant in Canada. I have close to 3 years working experience in information security. How is PNP done? Will PNP increase my express entry chances? I recommend you read up on Express Entry at the cic website. Most of your questions asked and even those not yet asked will be answered when you do that. But for a start: 1. 431 is good but not good enough for the current EE trend. There is no bad score2. POF for a single applicant is about 13k CAD. Need to have access to it as at when you submit your application, but six months before hand is recommended. 3. IT Certifications have no bearing or influence on EE applications. Might aid your case if you decide to opt-in for study route in information security. 4. PNP is done by specific provinces with their own individual selection criteria. PS: I find it hard to believe you actually said you are not very inclined to further education. I laugh in swahili. If you truely are serious in information security, then you know we have a Learning Never Stops mindset. A little furthering shouldn't scare you if that's what it'll take to make your move. With just 3 years in InfoSec, you have not even started your REAL education. WAKE UP MAN!!!! |

Bjayjay1100: Do I qualify for NSE if the current balance in my account wasn’t up to 30,000 2-4months ago, but was more than 30k CAD 6months ago, and currently more than 30k within the past one month? I think we misunderstand this 30k mentioned for the NSE. From my little understanding, the requirement states "Have MyBank certificate showing sufficient funds (equivalent of 30k) for studies for at least six months PLUS 12 months of banking history". From my little observations, they request for at least 10k CAD per year as LE (with the assumption that avearge tuition is 20k per year), so six months worth is 15k CAD. I believe if you have even just 15k CAD and sufficient proof of the source of subsequent funds, your POF from NSE should fly. I couldn't find any authoritative source where it was mentioned that 30k CAD must be in the account at the time of application. Just my 2 cents sha, I might be totally wrong. Edit: I read earlier on this thread someguy submitted a MyBankCert with balance of 3.6M with tuition payment receipts and his application was still approved. |

purespikes: You are correct. The evaluation I talked about in my January post was hypothetical and I was looking at the best scenario. That was how I arrived at 450 then.
Well, IELTS results are out and wifey maxed out, while I goofed big time (it was my first time and her 3rd time, as she had written twice in the past to test the waters, when I wasn't serious about the relocation thing).
She got 8.5, 8, 8, 7.5 in LRWS while I got 7.5,7, 7.5,7.5. I calculated the CRS with the current development and i got 448. If I upgrade my WES to include my HND, I get 2 more points and we are still stuck at 450, which will slide to 445 by June (wifey turns 36 by then)!
I won't be dismayed, all way na way and the dream will become a reality
God dey!! You didn't goof ooo. Since you can hit 7.5 in both writing and speaking on first try, then you have less work to do your second time around. I dare say you can make some more points with a little more preparation. We will get there. |

Ola2j: I once said on this forum that ircc does not use the daily exchange rate&some so-called "experts" nearly blew my head off. They even showed me a page on cic website where the daily conversion rate is shown. But extensive research has made me know that the daily exchange rate is shit. For example, when I submitted, the exchange rate as at that day was 283 thereby putting my pof to $13,100. When I received my gcms note, all the funds aspect showed met except the analyst note which carried RR nd when I checked the available funds aspect in the note, I saw $11,814. To get 11,814 you need to use about 310 as the conversion rate. So I checked the "daily" conversion rate the experts talked-about from the day I submitted till the day the gcms was generated, none of them got me 11,814. In November someone submitted the same amount I used for PoF nd when we received gcms note, the available funds was 13,700. There's proof if you still doubt. I know another person that submitted 400k less of the PoF nd still got ppr. My point is I do not say what I do not know So in essence, one should just strive to greatly exceed the POF requirements to avoid unnecessary panic concerning RR. Where can one find this their quarterly exchange rate they use? I've been searching to no avail. |

Lekiboboe: Wow
Its so amazing how the CRS cut-off has plummeted to a record low of 75points
Kudos to the EE applicants invited Its most probably just for those inland to all apply. 27,000+ people invited at once with lowest score of 75. It has never happened before. Its obvious IRCC has been instructed to clear the pool of all and anybody with any hint of Canadian experience as they don't want people leaving. Since PNP is not nominating enough people, IRCC has decided to take the bull by the horn. |

My journey that day wasn’t really easy due to my passport is having 1yr and 3 months validity on it ... the cue was so long but as a smart Lagos guy I smuggled myself in.. got to servicom desk they kept telling me it’s difficult to renew passport that has more than 6 months validity they directed me to so many offices ... I met with Several PCO, they kept on frustrating me ..The first one I met told me it will be done In Abuja lol, I knew what they were after, they wanted me to outsource the process to them. I then remembered I had a contact in the office, I pulled a call across to her and Lo behold she was a top rank officer that was even going to do the final approval ... After doing the whole servicom procedure, she took the file and went to get it approved by appending her signature with some write up ... and then I submitted successfully... I would wait for Biometric and capturing SMS in few days to come... it’s wasn’t complicated .. I’m happy to have taken the bold steps... came out and still saw people I met before I entered struggling with number. .. I will keep the house updated ! |
