The US is already in the middle of the conflict, whether they like it or not, the only problem now is that they moved from a position of strength to a position of weakness.

A week ago the US had some military leverage to negotiate with turkey, but now, Trump's is using sanctions and begging for truce.

They have strategic interests and allies in the middle east to protect, so they will always be involved in the middle east.

So the opinions of Generals do not matter in a war situation, only that of Trump who knows next to nothing about war or international politics and who ran away from the draft during the Vietnam war is knows all. To you guys, Trump must be greater than Jesus.

Europe cannot quickly send in troops to take custody of ISIS prisoners, only to sit in Brussel calling Trump populist, nationalist and waiting to roast him for "dangerous military escalation" if should do a troop surge to roll back the Turkish machine. And have we even forgotten Turkey is a NATO ally of America and Europe. Governments face hard choices. Big sympathy for the Kurds, but NATO allies will not fight each other to protect them from Turkey they had lived and fought with since I dont know when.

Anyway, no time for endless rebuttals. President Trump, from his utterances, is not unsympathetic to the plight of the Kurds, but for how long will American troops remain in Northern Syria to deter Turkey? Turkey will threaten the Kurds forever.
Trump is not a President of confusion but of commonsense. So better leave Turkey and Assad, backed by whoever backs him, to sort out who owns sovereignty over Syria. If Assad, allied with the Kurds and backed by Russia succeeds in chasing out Turkey, he will then crush the Arab Spring, re-establish authority over the entirety of Syria and prevent ISIS Caliphate from re-emerging. The ISIS prisoners presntly will be released in the fighting, there's nothing anybody can do about it. Nobody has agreed to take them. But in the absence of a territorial caliphate, there is nothing they can do except to melt back home to terrorize Europe as lone wolves. To stop that, Europe should rush in troops now.
As for your other junk points, those military Generals disagreed with their President and bowed out, free to run for office and market their foreign policy ideas to the people.
