first of all you are a yearly tenant which means that your landlord going by the provisions of the tenancy laws of lagos state is meant to give you six months notice. he ran foul of that when he gave you five days notice. you are not a weekly tenant na. weekly tenants even get seven days notice.

him resorting to self help by threatening to call OPC as well as blocking certain areas of the house with brick is trespass on your landlords part. you can sue him for damages. a tenant has certain rights one of which is freedom from unreasonable disturbances and right to privacy as well as the right to use and enjoy the common areas of the house which in this case is the back door.

he has no right to disconnect your electricity nor your water supply. it is a clear breach of his obligations as a landlord.

you have a good case against him.

I graduated from the university last year, since then finding a job has been tough largely because i live in a small town, now a friend of my Dad, whom my Dad obviously trusts so much, because he is an Elder in his church is telling my Dad to let me come and live with him and his family in Lagos to continue my job search, now i am friends with this mans daughter, but i am skeptical, this so called elder is those type of men who hide under their status to perpetrate evil, he made passes at a young lady i know but he was rebuffed, he is kind of connected and he can help me get a job, but i am not sure he wont betray my dad's trust and start demanding the impossible.

Absolute rubbish, abiodun you messed up big time. You have dragged your name in the mud, its people like you that makes everyone treat DSE's like crap, when I started that programe the fixed pay was 18k, risk asset was there to sell and earn, deposits where there with a percentage of 0.0035 multiplied by your avergae monthly deposit. In 2013 when we had issues on commisions it was increased to between 30k - 70k depending on number of years of stay and performance. There were months we went home with over 200k, after almost 4years I decided to resign because I got tired and I noticed my expenses were becoming higher than my income and looking at the nature of my job I could be tempted to expend customers money.
The point am driving at is simple and clear: nobody forced anyone to accept an offer of employment, if you can't cope with it quitely and with heads up resign, excuse of a sick mum or what have you to me is all crap, obviously you may have been dipping hands into customers money prior to this time, when I resigned things were really terrible for me, to the point I had to start squatting with a family because I didn't have a job for almost a year, its really sad most people don't see anything wrong in a bad name all in the name of wanting to survive!!!! Let's change our mentality!!! Whatever you believe in works for you.
