Thank you for this piece. Considering that the public holds around 1.2% of the shares, what is the maximum change in price they (public) can bring about on the stock? Correct me sir if I am wrong. People that are allowed to hold around 1.2% of a stock should have a limited power in influencing the stock price. omaojo1: I know you're asking this question because of the holding analysed below.
For a company to be listed on our bourse, it is required to have a free float of 20%. So at least 20% is the volume that must be available for the public.
However, the Exchange tweaked that requirement to serve an interest by creating what they called the premium board. With the premium board, value is used to determine the free float and it is just 40 billion naira.
The foregoing means that at 200 naira per share, Aliko is only required to make 200 million shares available to the public. With an outstanding shares of 17,040,507,405, only 1.2% is available to the public. Keep in mind the percentage is price dependent and will shrink if the price goes up and vice versa.
What this technically means is that he can take out every other shareholder and leave the Dubai fund and he'll still be within regulation.
Happy several new years to you guys. |

How is this possible? For a company to be listed on the NSE it must maintain a free float of nothing less than 20%. emmanuelewumi: No sir, just surprised that 23 insiders own 98.2% of largest company on the Nigeria Stock Exchange |

Rights issue makes it a No No for traders, unless you plan to buy sometime after the Rights issue has taken the stock to a very low depth. Opinion of a Newbie sha. locodemy: There is one stock in the insurance sector called WAPIC.I have been watching the stock in both technicals and fundamentals. It is one of the stocks FXUSER mapped out as JUJU stocks of the year.Looking at it,its like the stock will do well in price in the short/medium term.
What i want to find out from the gurus in the house about this stock is this; The stock has over 13B OS and planning to raise 10B naira in right issue.
-Will this news be positive to investors? -What is the assurance this stock will not go for reconstructions pre or post right issue. -Is there any evidence the company will improve in both top and bottom lines? -Will the company likely push the price further before the right issue?
Pls my brothers,i will like to hear a recommendations/criticisms in this mentioned stock. Thanks. |

But they(CEO's) cant take decisions like this without the approval of their shareholders. stcool: This is excatly my anger with most of this CEO'S, investors go through hell with them and when light starts to show up they start unbundling the company gradually for their selfish benefits. Leaving the empty can to small investors.
Look at what WALE is doing @Oando after raising so much from investors he keeps diluting their shares and divesting major revenue generating businesses. Why on earth would Oando divest its downstream assets to Helios
The least I expected them to do was sell to existing shareholders at the same price Helios was willing to pay, and list it as a separate entity on the stock exchange. You can't quantify what Oando share holders has gone through in the last 5 years.
If Tony is towing the same line, time will tell. |
