PoliticsRe: Yakubu Dogara Is Speaker Of 8th House Of Representatives by zik4ever: 5:38pm On Jun 09, 2015
Femi Gbajabiamila's chosen deputy was someone from the North East like Dogara. As it is, whoever he or she is wont fly. I see members quickly consulting to come up with a nominee from another zone. I wish they would chose a good hand from the South South so that all the zones are represented.

I thought as much. So he is lilkely to be either from Tafawa Balewa or Bogoro Local Government
Yes. He represents Bogoro/Tafawa Balewa federal constituency. Great day for Nigeria!

Chief Justice of Nigeria=North. The north are now in full control of the whole three arms of government. PMB knows what he is doing. They are even clamouring for the position of SGF, NSA & Chief of staff.
In fact make they take everything. Osibanjo can relinquish his V.P. 4 them too.
My brother, change is here jor!

pdp, apc, southwest, east, south south....u didn't even bother to ask if he will be capable?or progressive?or....ah! I feel like crying
We should have at least one competent person from each zone so its appropriate to ask where. There is zoning and we cant deny it else Buhari should have run with a Hausa man or a fellow Muslim. Sorry, thats the hard fact in Nigeria's political culture. Maybe with time it wont matter.
PoliticsRe: Yakubu Dogara Is Speaker Of 8th House Of Representatives by zik4ever: 5:28pm On Jun 09, 2015
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as totally unacceptable and the highest level of indiscipline and treachery the conduct of Tuesday’s inauguration of the National Assembly that led to the emergence of Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively.

”Senator Bukola and Hon. Dogara are not the candidates of the APC and a majority of its National Assembly members-elect for the positions of Senate President and House Speaker. The party duly met and conducted a straw poll and clear candidates emerged for the posts of Senate President, Deputy Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, supported by a majority of all Senators-elect and members-elect of the House of Representatives. All National Assembly members-elect who emerged on the platform of the party are bound by that decision.

”The party is supreme and its interest is superior to that of its individual members,” the party said in a statement issued in Abuja Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed.

I am just saying what i observed, I don't really care who is in control, i just want a better Nigeria. I am not ruling out APC's miscalculations but who is to say this is not their plan after all? Remember David Mark and Bukola Saraki disagree on everything, and Ahmed Lawan seems to be more inclined toward a David Mark type of reasoning. It will be hard for PDP to get anything done with Bukola at the helms of governance, but who knows?
Thanks my sister. Nigeria needs more of your kind. Don’t worry, all will be well. Did you read Bukola's acceptance speech praising Senator Mark when just days ago when campaigning, he criticized Mark's handling of some issues? These are politicians. Yes, I still believe PMB can still deliver because even Bukola and co know we are watching them. This change must be real.

Ha ha. The blame game wont help anybody. You may even add rightly that the Chief Justice of Nigeria is from the North (Taraba State) so ALL arms of government are headed by Northerners. So what should we do? Its all part of Change!

You guys need to learn about reverse psychology, PDP played directly the way APC wanted them to play, they knew PDP will support whoever they opposed. Lawan and Gbaja were just props. Now VP/SP(Yoruba) while Presido/Speaker (Hausa/Fulani). For you to understand politics, you need to look beyond regions. The way i see it, PDP just buried themselves more, why did APC announce their supposed candidates after the mock election. Normally parties do not have chosen candidates, you just put your name, campaign and the whole house votes. So they created the illusion of a broken party because they knew PDP will always vote against them.51 APC members did not vote at all today, why is that? PDP keeps burying themselves politically, David Mark and Bukola have totally different ideas (the Open NASS situation),Lawan would have worked better with David Mark. PDP need to start using their head cause we still need them. To all those who thinks Tinubu lost, i am laughing cause Tinubu's main purpose is to control government without being directly involved with it, So if Tinubu and Bukola are in cohorts, you can't blame Tinubu for Bukola's actions cause he did not publicly endorse him, Do you know what goes on behind close doors? All these will not affect them, it will affect us, the citizens.
Indeed my sister, you are correct when you imply that these people dont care about us but please dont come and tell me the outcome is an APC strategy because it isnt at all. It was NEVER their game plan ma!

Lai Mohammed has just released a statement saying the winners are not "their candidates" and that they will "deploy all legal and constitutional means" to deal with them. My source is Channels Tv live and you can tune in to hear the rest. Interestingly, both Saraki and Dogara are ex-PDP members. My brother, it’s all politics. Don’t worry yourself. Tambuwal did it before, Saraki and Dogara have done it and someone else will do it again!
I can tell you, its ONLY me and you that know about APC and PDP, what most politicians including many of these members know is "Bank alert". You think whether they are in APC, they'll be excited if Buhari blocks their sources of money including budget padding and extorting money from Ministries and Agencies while doing "oversight" function?

I think we need to acknowledge that the SE has produced the Deputy Senate President. I wish the SS can get Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps but that seems unlikely. That said, the seeming tilt in favour of the "North" should only surprise the "uninitiated" in Nigerian politics. Expect more L/G. Good morning.

It is a play out of one of the main factors for implosion of PDP -imposition and foisting of candidates.
PoliticsRe: Dongara, Gbajabiamila Nominated As Speaker As Voting Begins In House Of Reps by zik4ever: 4:19pm On Jun 09, 2015
Dogara is a Northern Christian minority from Bauchi State and well respected among the House members -the old members. He is from the North East so as it is NW, NE, NC, SW and SE are represented at the top. I dont know his choice of deputy. I wish it was somebody from the SS but that is unlikely because some members will prefer a Muslim and except perhaps in Edo State, I'm not sure any of the other members from the SS are Muslims and most of them are PDP. By the way, is he also running with a PDP nominee for deputy like it happened in the Senate? Not likely and if so, still wont fly with most APC members who are far in the majority in the House compared to the Senate.

I have no personal interest in whatever that happened at the NASS today. But I hate it when people are being hypocritics as the APC supporters.
The TAMBUWAL debacle is not far from our memory and many people hailed it as GOOD FOR DEMOCRACY. NOW WHY CAN'T WE ALL HAIL THE EMERGENCE OF SARAKI AS GOOD FOR DEMOCRACY? WHY?
You are very spot on! Why do we engage ourselves when the political class are settling themselves. It happened with Tambuwal so its now turn by turn. Take it or leave it. If I know these lawmakers well, some who didnt vote today, will be busy reaching out to Saraki and co to nominate them into "juicy" Senate Committees.

I appeal to your moral conscience to desist from this and repent in your eternal interest. I hope the moderators will do something about this. This is why I keep watching SEPLAT: I mentioned some time ago I will post a comparison I did between the top priced stocks on NSE. I used easykobo. com comparison tool and I have attached the snapshot. Although easykobo values are not 100% accurate, they can give us a good idea of the stocks as they stand based on fundamentals.

A quick look at the EPS values of these stocks (According to bloomberg):
SEPLAT: N79
Nestle: N24
Dangcem: N10.71
7UP: N10
Guinness: N5
FO: 1.43

2014 Dividend yield (According to bloomberg):
SEPLAT: 5.19%
Dangcem: 3.39%
Nestle: 3.17%
Guinness: 1.98%
7UP: 1.39%
FO: 1.3%

The best part is this: Seplat has a Price / Book Ratio of 0.9. The next to it is FO at 4.12. Most others are around 5 while Nestle is at 16.97! This means that out of the top most expensive stocks on NSE, Seplat is the only one trading at a discount to its book value.

Based on my analysis, I retain my buy recommendation for long term investors who have deep pockets and don't mind small losses in the short term due to the current state of the global oil market. I am still optimistic the oil price will recover or at least become more stable in the coming months.
Thanks but any idea about the non-technical and political risks around Seplat? Where does it stand in relation to potential probe of the oil sector and its acquisition of divested oil blocks? I am asking as per due diligence because I am interested in your tip off oh!
PoliticsRe: New Salaries For Buhari, Ministers, Govs & Others- Sun News by zik4ever: 4:21pm On Jun 08, 2015
I see a lot of focus on salaries and allowances. That’s not the real deal. It’s the perks and paraphernalia of office like endless so-called business trips especially overseas with huge entourage flying first class, staying in posh hotels and the rot/sleaze in the public service. Then you have daylight robbery due to budget padding, extortion and exploitation by politicians, crass corruption and looting of the treasury via bogus and inflated contracts. If we can stem corruption at levels -federal, state and local and all tiers of government -executive, legislative and judiciary, you'll be amazed; we can cut down our national budget by at least 25% and have enough money to do good things. All the talk of voluntarily or “sacrificially” giving up 50% of salary can only bamboozle the uninitiated!
PoliticsRe: Photo: Shettima, Fashola On Buhari’s Entourage Before His Departure To Germany by zik4ever: 9:44pm On Jun 07, 2015
Bashing our President Buhari or being fixated with former President GEJ won’t do us any good. Anyway, Nigeria is a very forgiving country. I see people who would have been stoned or lynched in our very recent past, being celebrated today as democrats and progressives. That’s the Nigerian spirit. In a few months or years, this internet insults and ethnic/regional exchanges may give way -I just hope! Even a few persons who committed publicly known atrocities and were being vilified for violating public trust are now being mentioned as potential appointees. I see politicians exploiting our differences to advance their private agendas. It’s a vicious cycle and I don’t envy anyone who comes here to insult a fellow citizen because of a politician.
