Congrats Prof.

The name Fagbohun sounds like Ekiti/Ijesha name. I'm happy for the Prof and I'm glad Ambode never made that mistake he almost made.

Ase si gbogbo adura yen, mo fi owo e boju.

Those religions dey kill Africa as much as IMF.

Obatala liked shayo (Palm Wine), it contributed to his loss of his position to Oduduwa and his eventual defeat and exile.

In his orginal oriki a line says 'Oba akorin mutin'

It was bad that he was taunted with palm wine on his way to Mokuro during his exile. While Obameri (Oduduwa's general) was enforcing the exile by marching Baba out, Obameri and his troops poured palm wine on the floor marking a line behind Obatala when he stepped out of Igbo Itapa axis towards Moore.

Upon being appeased to return, water was/gets poured on the spot palm wine was poured for him to walk over back into Ife.

The part struck out are mere BS.

Ife history was subjected to the indirect battle between the Christians and Muslims who felt the need to validate their choice of religion by bringing their ancestors into it.

The emboldened:

Every Ooni goes to Oke Ora to crowned. Oke Ora had a settlement, one of the 13 hamlets of Ife from whence Oduduwa came. Every festival procession in Ife is basically a re-enactment of an actual historical occurrence. Hence, every Ooni's journey to Oke Ora to be crowned is just a mere re-enactment of how Oduduwa left his hamlet to usurp power from Obatala.

The rituals/dances/chants done in a circular motion around sacrificial and other materials on the hill by the Ooni elect and Oduduwa devotees are/were the procedures Oduduwa did before his band and him entered Ife in grandstyle and pomp with the crown so as to claim King.

Before this period, Oduduwa (Ooni) with Obameri and his other supporters and Obatala (Oloja Iranje) with Orisa Ijugbe (Obalejugbe), Oluorogbo (Obalase), OrisaIkire, OrisaOko etc would have met and supposed to act a wrestle where Obatala will lose the Ade Are which is then taken back to Oke Ora. With Oramfe, Orunmila (Araba) and even Oluorogbo (Obalase) acting as peace committee between both parties.

The wearing of the Ade at the hill and the grand entrance from Oke Ora by the Ooni depicts Oduduwa laying claim to and consolidating his Kingship status.

It has nothing to do with flood, Noah, Jews, Arafat, Mecca, Muhammed, Jesus.

Ife existed thousands of years before Abraham.

O o ji bi Booda mii? E n le nbe ni oooooooo

O toje meta, a ku odun tuntun yi, a san wa sowo a san wa somo ati alaafia baba oro. Mo gbadun holiday mi ni Ife.

Thanks for the correction. Christianity and Islam are really causing confusion. Yet, Isese Is Still The Supreme.

You forgot to mention that Obatala never drank palmwine.

God Bless Oodualand.

Tradition Is The Ultimate.

It's quite unfortunate nlers fell easily for the scam. It's been long since I visited this thread.

When it all began, I noticed some people were asking her if they could pay into her account so she could help them buy goods from the North and sell in the South.

My instinct told me where it was going to end. SCAMMMMMMMM. I saw it coming but could not raise any alarm as I had nothing against her.

This is bad. She switched off her lines and disappeared. Well, with BVN now, she can easily be caught by EFCC. I suggest one of the victims should report the case to EFCC in person. They will fish her out.

I also want to suggest that Pavore9 and FarmTech should open a disclaimer thread and move it to the front page so that people will know Ajoke Alalubosa is nothing but a heartless scammer.

She deleted her moniker when a nler accused her of stealing his investment fund, it was later revealed that they were having relationship and calling eachother "baby" in less than 2 months that she opened this thread despite her claim to be a married woman. The issue was settled, a lawyer involved, the nler(I have forgotten his moniker, he was a banker who lost his job) was paid. Pics of the reconciliation was posted here. Yet, some people still fell for her scam again despite the warning.

Moderators, please open a thread about Ajoke and move it to the front page. People need to know before they lose their hard-earned money again.

Thanks.

Culture / Re: What A Blaine Harden Wrote About Yoruba People by zimoni(f): 10:18am On Jan 08, 2016
EreluY:
Blaine Harden is a total idiot. His assertion demonstrates his lack of knowledge and understanding of Yoruba history. In fact the secession that the Igbos embarked upon only in the 1960s was attempted by the Yorubas in the 18th century. Following the annexation of the buffer Nupe Kingdom by Uthman dan Fodio, Oyo-Ile, the administrative headquarters of Yorubaland, at that time, was overran but not annexed thanks to the joint efforts of indigenous soldiers from other parts of Yoruba land (the Ibadans, Ijebus, Egbas, Ondos, Ijeshas, Ekitis, etc.) who collaborated with the Oyo soldiers to push back the Fulani invaders. An aftermath of this is that whilst the Oyo hegemony was dealt a mortal blow, zonal armies (Ijebus, Egbas, Ibadans Owos, etc) became strengthened. Conscious of the weakening of the Oyo hegemony, the other Yoruba city-states broke free of Oyo dominance, and subsequently became embroiled in a series of internecine wars which ultimately fuelled the trans-Atlantic slave trade that witnessed millions of Yorubas forcibly ferried across to the Americas (especially Brazil, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Venezuela, etc.) where elements of Yoruba culture and traditions (arts, music and dance) as well as religions (Sango, Ifa, Obatala, etc) still persist. Conscious of the fact that it is peaceful resolution and not violent conflict that resolves disputes, the Yoruba people have learnt their lessons. They may deploy 'shakara' (empty threats) but never, as a people, resort to violence.

What I explained here, I learned in primary school and I am thoroughly ashamed of the fact that Nigerian history is no longer mandatory in our schools. Compulsory civic studies (in the 1970s) didn't stop my generation from becoming world class surgeons, accountants, financial analysts, scientists and professors in various disciplines. And I feel really sorry for this generation and future generations of Nigerians for being denied knowledge and understanding of their culture. Sociologists and anthropologists in the house would agree with me that formal education is an avenue for socialisation and enculturation. The Nigerian society is currently failing to enculture its own. Any wonder an ill-educated American would publish rubbish about our motherland and certificated but uneducated, uncultured and un-liberated Nigerians would rush to defend rather than lambaste the imperialist and Orientalist. Most importantly rather than join forces to 'fight' the idiot, the matter has become a source of tribal mudslinging. Any wonder, foreigners are entering our country to plunder our resources whilst we're busy engaging in inter-tribal verbal war.

You've said it all Ma'am.

The haters are going to get what are asking for someday. Our people are watching and taking records. I only hope they would not chant genocide and run to UN when the crises started.

WONDER SHALL NEVER END!
Ironsi and Kaduna Nzeogwu/Ifeajuna cause problems in Nigeria.
The only casualty from igbo side was Col. Arthur Unegbe, and it happened as a result of his closeness to Brig. Maimalari (one of the victims of that unfortunate coup) -- he was shot and killed to avoid him raising the alarm after Maimalari's was killed.
If Zik is not around(according to he was informed about the coup),what of Michael Opkara? Dr Orizu Nwafor?
The British have look for a loyalist who will keep Nigeria under their nose.Their errors send us back to slavery.Today they will ever thrust Hause(people we refer as illiterate).
Ironsi need only two bullets to correct the error then,1 for Michael Opkara and the other for Orizu Nwafor.
Everybody would rest without suspecting!

Zik of Onisa and British government insisted on One Nigeria, Northerners and Westerners wanted to go their separate ways but had to join the unholy marriage eventually which led to the creation of FORCED MARRIAGE in 1960.

Zik of Onisa was aware of the planned coup, instead of discouraging the boys and informed the Prime Minister, he decided to go on vacation for months. He even refused to come back home when his personal physician came home, the physician believed his boss was well. Zik refused to return to Nigeria until after the first coup, that shows he had premonition of the coup.

Nwafor Oritzu was supposed to swear-in Alhaji Zanna Dipcharima instead he handed over power voluntarily to Lt Gen Aguiyi Ironsi.

Lt Gen Aguiyi Ironsi refused to prosecute the coup plotters. The Northerners arranged the second coup with the intention of dividing Nigeria and go their separate way. British government convinced them to remain in the FORCED MARRIAGE because they would be in charge of affair of FORCED MARRIAGE.

The Military government led by Gen Gowon and the rest Northerners refused to return power to the region instead they maintained the unitary government.

Some crazy Northerners were suyalizing Igbos and Southerners in the North which eventually led to the civil war because FGN led by Gen Gowon refused to honour the Aburi Accord.

The Igbos were forced to return to the FORCED MARRIAGE after years of civil war.

And the rest they say is history.

IMO..........British Government, Pa Nnamdi Azikwe, Gen Yakubu Gowon, Pa Nwafor Oritzu, Late Majors Ifeajuna, Ezeogwu and the rest Majors ARE THE ACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PREDICAMENT OF THE FORCED MARRIAGE.

TOO BADT WE FOUND OURSELVES IN THIS SITUATION TODAY, EVERY REGION WOULD HAVE DEVELOPED AND PROSPERED IF POWER WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE CENTRE. TOO BADT.

that's my hood... I lived opposite baba Abere ifa's house, Awa-yin-o (his son is a soldier), the downstair after Mercy land church, well that was 6 years ago but now I live at baba odeku's, Falade's area. U should know these places.

I know the Awa-yin-o's house and also know the Aberefas. There used to be a chemist in the front side of the house(Awa-Yin-O's) in late 90s, I think the chemist was ran by Ayo or something. There used to be a family that lived in the house for years, they have some yellow(almost albinos) children. Most of them attended Oduduwa College. I was a friend of one of the Aberefas in the 90s, we were so close that after our secondary school education, I was visiting my friend almost everyday whenever I had nothing to do in my Mom's store. How time flies. Have a blessed week Bro.
