SportsChelsea Meet Man United In blockbuster FA cup quarter final clash. by zinachidi(op): 7:55pm On Feb 19, 2017
Chelsea draw Man United in a blockbuster FA 4th round clash...

Jose Mourinho will return to Stamford Bridge to
face Antonio Conte's table-toppers, while there
could be an all-non-league quarter-final

Chelsea have been drawn at home to Jose
Mourinho's Manchester United in the quarter-final
stage of the FA Cup.

The Portuguese will return to Stamford Bridge for
the second time since leaving the west London club
as he looks to replicate Louis van Gaal's success
with the Red Devils last season. Elsewhere non-league Lincoln City were handed a
potential trip to the Emirates Stadium to face
Arsenal, should Arsene Wenger's side put out
Sutton United on Monday evening. PLAY

Should Sutton beat the Premier League club,
however, it would guarantee a non-league club in
the semi-final stage of the competition. Tottenham will host London rivals Millwall, having
beaten Fulham on Sunday thanks to a Harry Kane
hat-trick, while Middlesbrough will welcome either
Huddersfield or Manchester City. Pep Guardiola's team could only draw with David
Wagner's Champions side on Saturday, despite the
Terriers fielding a weakened XI as they continue
their bid to reach the Premier League.

What do u think guys. Personally, as a man utd fan. I don't think chelsea will have it easy this time. U never know though.

PoliticsReturn Home If You Are Hale And Healthy – HR Group Tells Buhari by zinachidi(op): 8:43am On Feb 16, 2017
The Foundation for Human Rights and Anti-
Corruption Crusade, FHRACC, has called on
President Muhammadu Buhari to return home if he
is truly hale and healthy as claimed by his aides
and associates. The group, while doubting the true state of health
of the President, coupled with his alleged phone
conversation with President Donald Trump of the
United States, noted that the presidency was only
acting a script to buy time. DAILY POST reports that Senate President, Bukola
Saraki and Speaker of the Hoouse of Reps, Yakubu
Dogara yesterday visted Buhari in London and
claimed that the President was hale and hearty.

However, FHRACC in a statement issued by its
National President, Alaowei Cleric, forwarded to
DAILY POST said if the President was fit as claimed
by his party members and aides, he should return
home and resume duties. The statement reads in full: We are dismayed over the trending news that
President Donald Trump of the United States of
America has called President Buhari on phone
while the later is enjoying his esoteric leave in the
UK. We would not have bothered to respond to such
fabricated lie which ultimate end is to deceive
gullible Nigerians; our concern is the length they
have gone to cook up stories just to buy time. While Nigerians are eagerly waiting to see their
President, it is shameful that the presidency is
using the controversial vacation of Buhari to the
UK as a platform to manufacture lies. Of what good
will it do to Nigeria if the US government refutes
this claim like that of Tinubu’s bizarre journey to the UK?

On the contrary, if the said purported call is true
then we have been vindicated. It only proved to us
that the voice of Jacob is acting ceremoniously in
Nigeria while the hands of Esau is performing the
executive functions from the UK. The Nigerian constitution does not provide for
parliamentary system of government. Nigeria can
only have one President at a time. The content of
Trump conversation with Buhari as published in
the media is a usurpation of the power of the
Acting President. If actually Buhari is hale hearty, let him come to the country to resume duties. He should not be in the UK, while on leave, to
receive correspondents on behalf of the
Government. That should be the functions of the
Acting President. Considering the above convoluted rhetoric, we
hereby renew our earlier call that President Buhari
should address Nigerians in an audio-visual
message. If however he is sick as being insinuated
by some persons then let him declare himself unfit
to rule the country, in case his condition calls for that, so that the Acting President can become the
substantive one.

Buhari should know that his aides have held the
country to ransom with his absence. The
presidential image makers have turned out to be
presidential liars to be publishing headline news of
Buhari’s contact with select Nigerians in order that
they can evade the question of their principal’s health status in the UK. What a pity? We are calling
on Nigerians to be vigilant. Cabals are at it again. If all is well with our President, we see no reason
his close political associates are paying him visit in
the UK with confusing circumstances.”

CrimeFood Vendor Allegedly Kills Bus Driver Over N30 by zinachidi(op): 7:34am On Jan 31, 2017
It was a raucous start to a new week yesterday
for residents of College Bus-Stop, Igando in
Lagos State after a noodle seller, Mallam Adamu,
allegedly killed a bus driver, Lekan Adeleke alias
Starboy on Sunday night. But for the intervention of policemen from Area
‘M’ and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), the
crisis would have snowballed into an ethnic war
between the Hausa and Yoruba communities in
the volatile area. The deceased’s family have appealed that
Lekan’s body be released to them so that he can
be buried in accordance with Islamic rites. It was
gathered that Adamu used a plank attached with
a nail to hit Starboy on the head following a
disagreement over a paltry N30.

According to an eyewitness, Kehinde Akinduro,
who said he was eating noodles at Adamu’s
snack bar when the trouble started, the suspect
went berserk after the deceased paid his son
N200 instead of N230. He stated that Starboy after eating a plate of
noodles and eggs was told his bill was N230.
Being a regular customer, he handed over the
N200 he had on him and told the seller he would
bring N30 in a few minutes time. Akinduro said: “The boy then went and told his
father that Lekan paid N200 and promised to
bring N30 shortly but his father ran after Lekan.
People, who saw him running after Starboy to
the other side of the road, told him to calm down
that Lekan would not eat his money.

“About five minutes later, Lekan brought the N30
and asked the boy if it was because of N30 they
wanted to embarrass him. As Lekan was inside
the container talking to the son, Adamu just
entered with a plank he was holding and hit
Lekan on his side. So, Lekan turned around to know what happened. When he saw it was
Adamu, he struggled to take the plank from him
but couldn’t. “I was still eating. I left my food and went inside
to stop Adamu but he used the same plan to beat
me three times. My hands and legs are still
swollen. I fell on the ground and I was weak. “After the struggle, Lekan ran outside. He was
about to cross the expressway and did not
know Adamu was still coming behind him. That
was how Adamu used the plank and hit Lekan
on his head. The nail on the plank burst Lekan’s
head and he fell on the express.

“When I saw what had happened, I called our
colleagues who were on the other side to come.
People who were eating gathered and told
Adamu to take Lekan to the hospital, but he was
busy pouring water on Lekan’s head. “When he saw that our colleagues were coming,
Adamu and his son fled. Others started chasing
him but he used charms to distract people. We
called our chairman and he called the police. I
chased him too and found him inside a gutter at
Ikotun Road. He was hiding under a slab and refused to come out until police came. This thing
started around 11:05am.” Another driver, who gave his name as Eniola,
described Adamu as a very violent man, noting
that he chased a customer with a cutlass two
months ago. According to Eniola, Adamu’s ear
was chopped off some years back at Igando
because he stabbed somebody to death. “He fled to College bus stop after escaping death
from inside Igando. He’s a very violent man and
he likes to threaten people with charms and
weapons. We heard the police want to grant him
bail. If he’s granted bail, this area won’t contain
us anymore. Lekan cannot die in vain. Let justice be done.

“Now, who would care for Lekan’s wife,
daughter and mother? He was an only son and
he has been taking care of his family. Lekan was
a peaceful man. He was like an Alfa. He usually
avoided trouble and so, we are not happy the
way he was killed. Imagine if it was a Yoruba person that killed a Hausa man? This area would
still be boiling now and many people would have
been killed.”

PoliticsSaraki, Dogara, 2 Others Accused Of Stealing N630m By Paying Rent To Themselves by zinachidi(op): 4:59pm On Jan 30, 2017
The quartet of Senate President, Bukola Saraki; his
deputy, Ike Ekweremadu; House of
Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara; and his
deputy, Lasun Yusuf, have been accused of
financial fraud totaling N630,125,499.90. The
accusation was made by an advocacy group, Citizens Action to Take Back Nigeria (CATBAN),
which said the four principal officers of the
National Assembly executed the fraud by
pressuring and using the Federal Capital
Development Authority (FCDA) to provide them
with accommodation.

This is in spite of the fact that the monetization policy of the Federal Government
bars all agencies from using taxpayers money for
to meet personal demands of public officers
outside the provisions of the law. An independent investigation it conducted,
disclosed CATBAN, showed that in March 2016, the
four principal officers of the National Assembly
approached the management of the Federal Capital
Development Authority (FCDA) to provide them
with residential accommodation. This, it said, was sequel to a plan perfected by an agent acting
between the National Assembly and FCDA to steal
money via dubious accommodation requests.

The requests, revealed CATBAN, were
approved within 48 hours and followed with fund
disbursement, an indication of the desperation to
quickly get the money. The four principal officers
added CATBAN, then presented companies that
doubled as estate agents and property owners for the exercise. The companies used were Gogetit
Investment Limited, which used a Zenith Bank
account to receive the money, Legendark Consult
Limited, which used a Guaranty Trust Bank account
to reeive its own share, and Pitch Global Services,
which has an account domiciled with Heritage Bank.

Through the four companies, CATBAN said it found
that the sum of N630,125,499.90 was fraudulently
paid by the FCDA for phoney renting, renovation
and furnishing of four properties as official

PoliticsKen Nnamani Emerges Leader Of South-East APC by zinachidi(op): 6:47am On Jan 30, 2017
A former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, has been chosen as the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East geo-political zone, comprising Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi states.

The party in the zone has also resolved to support President Muhammadu Buhari for second term. The decisions were taken during a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held at the Imo International Convention Centre (IICC), Owerri, at the weekend.

In attendance were Ken Nnamani, Emeka Offor, Ifeanyi Araraume, George Moughalu, Tony Eze, Ebuka Onunkwo, Jombo Offor, deputy governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, national organiser of the party, Senator Osita Izunaso and other members of the national working committee.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State had said he declined the offer to lead the party in the zone despite pressure from many members of the party, proposing Nnamani as a suitable person.
Okorocha said: ‘’Now that Igbo leaders are together in APC, Nigerians will hear us. There is a vacuum of leadership in the South-East APC. I am a governor. My brothers, Chris Ngige and Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, are ministers. Hence, the importance of Ken Nnamani coming at this time. I decline the leadership of Ndigbo in APC. With Ken Nnamani, the question of who is the leader of APC in the South-East has been answered. Ken Nnamani is the leader of APC in the South-East.

“Senator Nnamani should then work with other leaders like Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Jim Nwobodo and a host of others to give Ndigbo political direction.”
‘’We are going to support President Buhari for the eight years he is going to lead the nation. This is the time for Ndigbo to come and work together. We are also going to use the Anambra election to show that APC has arrived in South-East. The Igbo played bad politics in 2015. Today, we have lost a lot.

We are not anywhere because of our bad politics,” he added. Speaking, Nnamani said the party needed more of the Igbo leaders at the ‘’national leadership of the APC where decisions are made, and even at the National Assembly and other strategic areas and levels.’’

He said: “Some of us going into APC are not doing so because of hunger, but in the interest of the Igbo. We should play politics of ideas, and avoid abusive words. Ndigbo do not have the ingredients for opposition politics. We do not have the media or business or money to play opposition politics, but we won’t ask for handouts.

‘’How the Yoruba voted in 2015 should be an eye-opener. They voted both sides, but the South-East put their eggs in one basket. I am not of the view that everybody should be in APC, but those have seen the need should do so. If Okorocha has realised that he needs more hands in APC, he should be commended. We are worst enemies of ourselves. If we work together we will go very very far. This is the time to play national politics.

“Some people could say we have the Deputy Senate President but he does not attend the meeting of APC caucus where important decisions are taken. We must think ahead. The benefit of that office is therefore personal and does not enhance the political fortunes of the South-East people.”

PoliticsAnambra Guber: I’m Not In APC – Soludo Denies Vying For Ticket by zinachidi(op): 8:23am On Jan 26, 2017
Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,
CBN, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has dismissed
reports that he was interested in contesting this
year’s Anambra gubernatorial election under the
platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said he was not a member of the APC and could
not be contesting for its party nomination.

The state chairman of the party, Mr. Emeka Ibe,
yesterday claimed that Soludo was among the
contenders for the party’s nomination for the
Anambra governorship election. “We just discovered that Prof Soludo has not
registered as a member of our party in his ward.
And you know the journey begins from the ward,”
he was quoted as saying. “He is a big friend of us and a big friend to the APC
Federal Government, but he must first register at
his ward level before any other thing. “For Mrs Uche Ekwunife, we just discovered that
she might not want to run for this year’s
governorship in the state.

“For these reasons we have decided to drop their
names from the list of the governorship aspirants
in the forthcoming election in the state on the
platform of our party”, he added. But Soludo, who expressed surprise at the APC’s
claim, said he had received several calls, texts and
emails seeking clarification on the matter since
appearance of the said publications. “I also sought and obtained the phone number of
the said state chairman and spoke to him in order
to ascertain the veracity of the story,” he said in a
statement yesterday. “I wish to clarify that I am not a member of the APC
and could therefore not be contesting for its party
nomination”, he declared.
