Last Friday, December 9, 2016, people across the country and beyond were alerted to the news of a 16-year-old boy, identified as Aduragbemi, who was found in-between two walls (about 10 inches apart) in the Oduduwa Area, New Town in Ondo Kingdom, Ondo State. When the incident happened, there was a barrage of questions on the minds of people who came across it, as to how he entered such a narrow space, who he was; where he came from; was he a normal human being or a demon; could he also be a witch that fell from the sky, and many of such questions. Well, it’s been eight days since he was rescued and normalcy has since returned to the area, but the tortuous experience the boy subjected the occupants of the house to may not go away quickly. “We were already looking for another accommodation, because it was strange for human voice to be coming out of a fence wall for three days; non-stop, throughout the day and at night,” one of the residents, who identified herself simply as Becky, said. When our correspondent visited the premises on Akinyosoye Street on Wednesday, the tenants looked relieved, given the nightmares they said they had for the three days the boy spent in-between the wall of their fence and that of the adjoining property. They said they were already thinking a ghost had arrived in their community as the situation was completely strange to them. She said, “We never knew anyone was there. So, when the noise refused to stop and was unbearable, I told my friends to start looking for accommodation for me because it was becoming scary that we would be hearing a strange voice from in-between walls. Could it be a ghost, I once asked myself. It has never happened before and I don’t think I would forget the experience of those three days. “Initially, we laughed when the person was talking incoherently, because he was fond of repeating anything people around said. We, in our compound, thought the voice was from the shops on the other side, so we confronted them to know who was doing that, but they said they also thought it was from our compound, or maybe we had a visitor. “That was when we sensed trouble. We also realised that in the night when the shops would have closed, the voice persisted and the person was saying meaningless things, like ‘my name is Judas Iscariot; I’m Jesus; I was the one who killed Jesus, bring your gaari (cassava flakes), etc. It became unbearable and I couldn’t wait to run away. We thought we were being haunted by some ghosts, because it was very strange.” She recalled that there were times they couldn’t sleep in the night and they had to bring out their seats in the midnight to sit outside. “It was scary to remain indoors, with the kind of things he was saying at that time of the night, so, sometimes we all came out to sit down outside; it felt safer,” she added. However, their troubles came to an end that Friday afternoon when the boy’s noise became unbearable and they alerted the police, since the owner of the house could not be reached. With the help of neighbours and passersby, they broke the wall and there he was, naked and looking very emaciated. He was taken to the police station and moments later, his mother, arrived at the scene and she was directed to the police. “We learnt the boy had mental issues, because people who knew him confirmed that he was fond of going to hide himself and doing strange things,” Becky added. She explained that on Wednesday, one of their neighbours had said she saw the boy running towards their house naked, around 11pm, and that even though it remained uncertain how exactly the boy got in- between the walls, he apparently climbed their fence and fell inside that night, more so that they started hearing the voice from that Wednesday night. Findings by Saturday PUNCH revealed that the boy, an Indian hemp smoker, had been undergoing treatment for mental illness since the past three years. The place where he was found is some distance from where his mother lived. He was then taken to a church, and after some efforts, the head of the church called his mother to come and take him away. When our correspondent visited the head of the church, Prophetess Dorcas Adebayo, she admitted to being the one taking care of the boy but that she had to release him having told the mother what she needed to know about the cause of the boy’s problem. “That incident happened three days after I discharged him from here and I learnt she took him to another place,” she added. Meanwhile, the house where the boy’s mother lived at 11, Okegboyi Street, was locked when our correspondent visited, and according to neighbours, their whereabouts remained unknown. The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, said the mother of the boy had been advised to take him for immediate medical care “as he looked so emaciated.” Lalasticlala http://punchng.com/thought-haunted-ghosts-tenants-house-boy-found-inside-wall/ |
THE Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed January 16, 17 and 18 for the trial of former Minister of Aviation Chief Femi Fani-Kayode and ex-Minister of State for Finance Senator Nenadi Usman The trial was billed for Monday, but it could not hold due to the public holiday. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned them on a 17-count charge of laundering about N4.6 billion. They pleaded not guilty. The 17-count charge borders on conspiracy, unlawful retention of proceeds of theft and corruption and money laundering. They were charged with former National Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) and ex-Chairman of Kagarko Local Government of Kaduna State Mr. Yusuf Danjuma and a company, said to belong to him, Jointrust Dimentions Nigeria Limited. Count one reads: “That you, Nenadi Esther Usman, Femi Fani-Kayode, Danjuman Yusuf and Jointrust Dimentions Nigeria Ltd on, or about January 8, 2015, within the jurisdiction of this court conspired among yourselves to indirectly retain N1,500,000,000, which sum you reasonably ought to have known forms part of the proceeds of an unlawful act to wit: stealing.” The four were also accused of indirectly retaining N300 million, N400 million and N800 million – all proceeds of corruption, according to EFCC. EFCC said they allegedly committed the offence between January 8, 2015, and March 25, 2015, ahead of last year’s general election. In another count, the prosecution alleged that Fani-Kayode directly retained N350 million, which he ought to have “reasonably known formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful act to wit: stealing.” The commission said Fani-Kayode directly used N170 million, among other funds, which he reasonably ought to have known form part of the proceeds of corruption and stealing. He was also accused of doing a cash transaction of N24 million with Olubode Oke, said to be at large, without going through a financial institution. The offence, EFCC said, violated sections 1 (a) and 16 (d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012, and punishable under Section 16 (2) (b). The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has recommended immediate psychiatric attention for the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, saying that his behavior and utterances these days do not present him as a person who is still in full control of his mental faculties. The party said in a statement issued on Monday in the state capital Port Harcourt: “Nigerians may have observed the distorted, uncoordinated and incomprehensible manner in which Chief Wike addresses the public these days, which is perhaps an indication that he needs psychiatrist assistance as a matter of urgency before his case goes beyond remedy. Today he is accusing the military of being after him or tying to assassinate him, tomorrow he will be accusing the INEC and Police of plotting on how to rig the rerun election scheduled to hold on December 10. Later he will accuse Transportation Minister Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of trying to pay the salaries of civil servants which he Wike has refused to pay for these eight months. This is even as he would accuse NIMASA DG Dakuku Peterside of plotting how to restore security and peace to Rivers State, thereby dislodging and thwarting his policy of turning Rivers State to Rivers of blood while on the other hand accusing the APC Rivers South-East Senatorial District Candidate Senator Magnus Abe of meeting with senior police officers between 2am and 4am on Friday, where he requested that they support his rigging agenda in exchange for N10million *EACH*. If not that Wike has gone berserk where on earth does he wants Abe to raise such a staggering fund in an election that the Ogonis have vowed to vote for him? Recently at the Rivers state Government House, Wike muttered to PDP Chieftains, “apart from the fact that Development creates crime and that since I resumed office as Governor of Rivers state, people are being killed and beheaded in Rivers state and pictures of those killed in the state were littered in social media, too much insecurity in Rivers state I will only try my little best to handle it but as the President of the new Niger Delta Republic, how can my fellow President, President Buhari of Nigeria withdrew my security and assigned them to Hon Asita O. Asita a small boy besides People should understand that in Rivers State, we have the capacity to resist the security agencies of Nigeria. To worsen our case, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has assigned all the Police SARs in the South-South (SS) to Senator Magnus Abe and those of South East (SE) region to ‘Senators’ Andrew Uchendu and Amachree”. Rivers APC in the statement signed by the State Chairman, Chief (Dr.) Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, described Wike’s wild allegations and utterances as symptomanic of a person in need of psychiatric evaluation. “We suspect that the law of Karma is now after him including the blood of hundreds of Rivers State people that Wike and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) killed to install him and his lieutenants in office is now on a revenge mission, exacting a heavy toll on the usurper- Governor,’ the party said. The quote, “he who sows the wind, will reap the whirlwind” makes better meaning with the current sorrow state of Wike and his mindless cohorts. The Holy Bible as contained in the book of Galatians 6:7 may have had Wike in mind when it stated, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” To further expose wike’s unstable mind and thought as Nigerian Master Electoral Rigger and how he rigged himself to power, let us listen to him, “How can APC topple me as master electoral rigger? Na me bi their Oga (for rigging). I no give them this kind thing. Na me bi their oga. I no teach them this kind thing. Na who dey teach them all this kind thing? Trans Amadi Police station, you know we have police barrack there near Michelin. Na there wey the SARS Commander dey live, one Akeem. Every night, you go see them with this Tundra, this big hilux, black. Them go come. Them gotell all the security people wey dey for gate make them comot. Them go comot. Them go put off the light and bring down materials. I go tell them say me, I be professional. This thing wey una dey do, una bi small children”. Everyday this man who is not fit to be a governor makes Rivers State a laughing stock before the country and the international community. He should be made to get help before it is too late.” We therefore appeal to the Rivers electorate to utilise the opportunity offered by the rerun parliamentary election to vote massively for all APC candidates and thus free the State from the shackles of the ungodly and bloodthirsty PDP leadership.” “In the same vein, we appeal to INEC and security agencies not to be intimidated by Wike’s tricks and pranks. We urge the security agencies to ensure that those hoodlums hired and kept by Wike to cause havoc during the election are properly caged so that people would feel free to exercise their franchise on December 10, 2016,” the statement said.
