In the US, no. Non-tenure track academics in the US are not called professor. Tenure track assistant/associate/full profs, yes. But non-tenure track guys, no. At least from what I know. Even people with the title "Research Professor", if non-tenured you don't call them Prof. You just call them "Doctor so-and-so."

My University (and he will be coming again soon) and I will not be mentioning it. Thanks.
Does anyone even care who calls them Prof here? We all simply go by the title Dr., be you Full Prof, Associate or Assistant Prof.

Do you mean he should not be called ''Full Professor'' (sarcasm) Soludo or ''Professor'' Soludo? The man is still a visiting Prof in the UK and US, as we speak. He was here recently as a visiting Prof. In any case, Prof means different things in the UK (Nigeria) and the U.S. In the U.S., it is more loosely used such that anyone that professes (teaches) or researches at some higher level education can be called a prof.

Soludo was a FULL (bolded, in case you are short-sighted) Prof at UNN. He has not been stripped of it and would, in all likelihood, retain it or even get a better offer elsewhere, if he needs it.

Its just Nigerian culture to refer to those who have held academic positions at one point of their lives as Professors. Like people keep calling Soludo professor though he has never been a tenure track professor and has just held mostly visiting positions. Achebe is also a visiting professor.

I think people should also learn to distinguish between the hierarchy of academia in the US and in other countries like Africa/Europe. Professor in the latter could take close to 30 years while full professor in the former could take 5-10 years.

Which Achebe is not a full professor? And which Soludo is not a full professor (who was a full prof at UNN, as well as visiting prof all over the world)?

Has the value of bank shares risen since he came in?
Has any of the bankers who stole our share monies and devalued them (I lost no less than 5 million Naira equivalent) been sentenced?
Do we yet have the islamic bank he promised from day one, that will help our Muslim brothers averse to conventional banking do banking?

Time to scrap the NYSC program. Youth corp members have been cut down in their prime, in their own country. My own sister escaped by the whiskers. I am shocked that there has been no outrage by parents and leaders from the the areas where the victims come from. This is not a one-off, it has been a recurrent decimal that NYSC members are cut down in Northern Nigeria at the flimsiest of excuses. Why should those who blatantly refuse to be educated decimate the population of the educated? Why? President Goodluck Jonathan should consider scrapping the NYSC, or let people serve in safer regions. Parents should cry out now. I have since said it that if not for the CBN gov. Nigeria's economy would have completely gone under with the kind of daft president (glorified otu tu with his clown hat from otuoke) and the oyinbo brainwashed finance minister we have currently.

This man Sanusi knows his onions, hence the reason the US congress invited him and that other Mrs Oteh over so they could tap from thier raw knowledge in a bid to clean up the American financial system.

If this guy had a visionary and purposeful president as his boss, He would be giving the Asia tigers a run for thier money with an economy posting double digits year on year with real growth that Nigerians can attest to. Unlike what we are witnessing where the CBN is chunking out policies to drive growth, the president on the other hand is engaging in policy frog jump!

Please, the CBN gov post should not be given to an igbo at least for the next 16yrs! They are to crafty when they see money e.g Soludo and they wil give you a paper based economy that can't stand the test of time.
