The Lagos State Government has formalized a significant partnership aimed at overhauling and expanding its water supply infrastructure.
On Monday, the state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with an international consortium comprising Belstar and ENKA. This collaboration signifies a major step towards addressing critical water challenges across Lagos State.

Speaking after the official signing ceremony held in Alausa, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, emphasized that this joint effort is specifically designed to tackle existing deficiencies in the state's water infrastructure.
Mr. Wahab explained that the comprehensive project will involve the construction of new water treatment plants, the rehabilitation of existing facilities, and the installation of expanded distribution networks.

The project is strategically divided into two key components: the "Brown field" aspect, which focuses on the repair and upgrade of existing water treatment facilities, and the "Green field" aspect, which involves the construction of entirely new waterworks in various identified locations across the state.

Also commenting on the partnership, the Managing Director of the Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), Engineer Mukhtaar Tijani, stated that the LWC will work closely with the international consortium. The corporation will provide essential support in areas such as project development, technical guidance, and coordination among relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project. He highlighted that these projects will not only deliver access to clean and safe drinking water to underserved communities but will also play a crucial role in eradicating waterborne diseases within the state.

Representing the international consortium, the Group Managing Director of Belstar Capital, Mr. Tewodros Polk, affirmed the consortium's strong commitment to the project. He stated that they will leverage their combined strengths and technical expertise to guarantee the long-term efficiency and reliability of the water supply services.

Mr. Polk also pledged that the consortium will actively engage local subcontractors to foster capacity building and promote sustainable development throughout all phases of the project.

The ambitious project will be executed using an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Finance (EPC+F) model, with insurance provided by the US-International Development Finance Corporation. The anticipated completion timeframe for the entire project is 36 months.

These are Bishops who manage larger diocese/archdiocese and been consecrated bishops many years before Arinze's favourite.

Arinze took his favouritism and tribalism all the way to Rome because he has Influence with the late Pope Francis.

We understood the logic behind how Archbishops Dominic Ekandem was appointed Cardinal by Pope John Paul II, and how same Pope later appointed Archbishops Arinze as Cardinal and much later Archbishop Okogie as Cardinal. We know the experience of Archbishop Onaiyekan before Pope Benedict VI appointed him Cardinal.

So how exactly will same Cardinal Arinze that knew his own and his peer's experience before they were elevated to Cardinal, then go ahead to recommend his protege to be cardinal from a very insignificant experience as Bishop of a small diocese?

Cardinal Arinze no try at all and serially abused his closeness to the late Pope, who expected he was being guided correctly.
