Well, with what's happening now, it's advisable you do.

Please can you explain more on how to do GIC in Nigeria. I’m in the process but I don’t understand what Nigerian bank is the best option.
Check this thread somewhere here, someone gave a detailed explanation on how to go about that.

I have a visit visa to Canada already, issued this month. My brother invited me and presented his statement, international passport and employment letter for that purpose and visa was granted. But now he advised me to apply for school so I can put in for study permit to be able to remain in Canada. Initially, in my visit visa application I put that I will only be staying only 4weeks. Now that I am trying to switch from visit visa to study permit, I am worried if that will be an issue.
It will not be an issue. Check my previous posts. I also have visit visa that was approved April and I submitted my study permit application and it was also granted. Just do the right thing and your application will ne approved.

Please house I need your advise. So I’ve been working as an HR officer in Nigeria and also a freelancer for a known tech company in the US. I earn over 4kusd monthly and I’ve been saving my remote earnings in Payoneer due to the rate at which the naira is depreciating. I’ve paid my full year tuition (it’s a 1 year program) and I’ve saved over 30k usd.

I am trying to move my funds to my naira account for proof of funds. The thing is if I move my COL and miscellaneous from Payoneer to my naira account as a lump sum and I explain with proof will it be a problem since my naira account doesn’t have much inflows due to my usd savings in Payoneer?

Also moving my converting my funds from Payoneer to Naira directly will make me lose some value due to the rate of Payoneer currently is about 769 naira to a dollar.

I don’t know if I can move it from Payoneer to another account (Geegpay) cos the rate is about 801 naira to a dollar? If I do, Geegpay limits payments to 1 million naira a day. If I move 1m every day for say 15 days and I explain to the VO can this fly?

I don’t know which option to go for.

Please I would appreciate your advise. Please help a sister.

Apologies for my long post.

Thank you.
Since you have paid your tuition. Why not do GIC and explain source of your funds in your sop. With this, your tuition and living expenses taken care of. Your challenge will be how you will put out your economic and home ties to be strong and convincing that you will return to Nigeria after your study

Visa might be denied reason been that “ you have a blood tie over there and they will feel like you won’t come back again to Nigeria “ better still your brother should fund your account .
Well well, I kind of disagree here. If his Visa is denied, it's certainly cos his home and economic ties were weak and not necessarily because of his Canada ties.

He needs to make his home and economic ties stronger than his Canada ties. Many ppl here have had their siblings in Canada be their sponsors. His brother funding his account doesn't change anything. Doesn't change the fact he still has Canada ties. The most important thing is making sure he uses his SOP to project himself to have so much economical and home ties that he will definitely leave Canada after study.

I am single guy, applied to Conestoga College 2024 Spring semester, waiting for my LOA. Pls is there any issue if my elder Brother who is based in Ontario Canada be my sponsor, can I present his Canadian bank statement and affidavit of support to back my application ? Will that affect my establishing of strong home ties ?
No, there are no issues. He can be your sponsor and you can add his statement of account and other supporting docs.

Just make sure you have strong home and economic ties greater than the Canada ties.

First use the link below and compress the originally merged docs.
https://www.ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf

OR

https://avepdf.com/hyper-compress-pdf

This should reduce to say 9mb.
Then use the one below and compress to your size choice depending on the setting you use. Keep altering it till you get your desired size and quality.

This is actually for GCMS notes via CBSA

- Pick the first option from the list of results
- when the page opens, click on next
- click/mark the privacy box and click continue
- on the next page, select Canada Border Services Agency from the drop-down
- from the next drop-down, select foreign national outside of Canada
- fill out your required information in the boxes below
(Use your Nigerian address and phone number pls)
- Pick yes to the question about requesting information on your behalf if so
- pick member of the public for the category that best describes you
- Pick electronic copy for how you prefer to receive your notes/records
- click continue
- on the next page, pick privacy act on the 1st drop-down
- select English in the next drop-down
- select case files for the type of records
- fill out all necessary information below(for UCI number, use the format XX-XXXX-XXXX)
- in the comment box write a short intro and your request. Eg:
Hello/Hi
My name is SURNAME, First Second. I have applied for a study permit, my UCI is soso and my application number is soso, DOB. I would like to have the notes for my file
- then click continue
- also click continue on the next page(you don't fill anything here)
- you are taken to the final page where you review or edit your info
- check the I certify box and click continue
- you should receive a confirmation email from CBSA

So u can actually order for ur note free of charge

My program is a Masters program but with a qualifying year. My POF was 10m and the annual tuition is supposed to be around $7kCAD. I would apply for my gcm notes in the coming days so I can figure out the exact reason for denial.
Ohk. Good idea. Request for your gcms notes

Did you apply before the increment of rate? If yes, then your pof was definitely not enough. Also what supporting docs did you submit. Were you the sponsor. Can I see your sop that you submitted??

Please, how much is it to request for GCMS notes and how long does it take? Also, are the reasons for refusal well detailed in it or there’s actually no point requesting for it?
You can request for free one and get it within a month. And it's detailed in the sense that you know the exact reason why you were rejected. So It's important

Hello gurus in the house.

Please I noticed flight to Toronto are reasonable but flight to Alberta are so high.
Also I couldn't find any Egypt air for Alberta.

Please is there a way to beat down the cost.
Or is there a way to book to Toronto and then book another flight to Alberta.

Abeg please share the secret to getting cheap flight because even on google flights, flights to Alberta are still high

Thank you all
Go to Toronto first. Then to Alberta. Flight from Toronto to Alberta should be about 100 to 150 cad.

@Zubizareta
Ircc contacts schools to confirm LOA. Now what's the guarantee that when they contact your school, they will put in words that they gave you permission to go ahead with that LOA as Long as you pay before you enter the country as they told you.
Personally, I will advise that if you have the funds, quickly pay and attach evidence of payment and receipt from the school, your correspondence with the school confirming you could apply with that LOA as you stated above as well as an LOE explaining briefly why the payment was delayed due to the form A system. This should be fine. Send via webform and emails.

Someone posted in a WhatsApp group I belong to the following relating to the return ticket issue.

"I just left Egyptair office here in Abuja where I went to get final clarification on all the issues concerning their flight plans. Their Rep. manager clearly stated that the root of the entire issue was that two individuals were sent back from Cairo to Nigeria when the immigration officials at Cairo discovered they had fraudulent documents. They were heading to Canada but their trip was cancelled in Egypt. Hence, more strict measures were employed. In conclusion, only citizens, permanent residents and students with all of their supporting documents(I-20 &!admission letter from your school) will be allowed to board. Finally, the credit card issue only becomes an issue on the suspicion of any fraudulent activity or history of fraudulent activity. If none, then you’re free for onward boarding. On this note, here is wishing all EgyptAir passengers like myself a safe flight in advance. Cheers! 😉"

CC: IRCCBOY
In summary, is there still need for return ticket? Is it compulsory now??

Yes I used an agent.

I was advised to leave the family behind to strengthen my application seeing it's a 1yr course.

GCMs note takes 1 month to come out so I have to defer then....... huh
You are running out of time. If you can defer, do that and reapply after your gcms notes is out. But it's obviously pointing towards your shift from accounting of 2 decades to HRM.

Thanks for the swift response.

I applied early July.

An accountant of almost 2 decades but looking at recruitment services prospects as future retirement plan.

Home & economic ties.
Applied alone, my wife and kids are home. Also mentioned my Siblings.

Used 2 landed properties, a duplex and a family business I run with my wife docs
Then you have to rework your sop to show career progression with regards to shifting from accounting after 2 decades to Human Resources Management

Hello house,

I have just been served breakfast!!!

Course is a 1year PGC in HRM
No mention of POF insufficiency or home ties.

Kindly assist to decode what I did wrong.

School resumes September and I'm wondering if I should give it another shot or defer and await gcms jejely.
See attached excerpts from my correspondence letter
Sorry for the refusal

When did you apply? Cos if you applied before the change of ircc rate then your reapplication will need you working on your pof.

What are you currently doing? Any relationship with the program you applied for?
Lastly, what were your economic and home ties.
The VO had concerns with your purpose of travel so it could be these things I listed above.
Mail me the SOP you submitted let me see.

Workahollic:
Good afternoon Gurus!

I will appreciate if someone can respond to my questions.

I am currently living and working in the Netherlands for a 1.6 years. I had lived in ukraine before moving to the Netherlands because of the war in Ukraine. I got a temporary protection residency permit in the Netherlands because of the war in ukraine, therefore my resident permit in the Netherlands is coming to an end soon.

Because I have been working, I was able to save enough funds to pay for my post graduate degree of about 19kCAD and bought a GIC of 11kCAD to study in canada.

Few people i know in the Netherlands who also lived in Ukraine tried applying for a canada study visa from Netherlands but they got denied because of their "Temporary protection residency permit for people from Ukraine" which the VO considered not to be a proper residency. Two of these people went back home to Nigeria and reapplied and it was approved.

In my case, I am 28 years old. I have paid my full tuition fee(19kCAD) to my school in canada, and I bought a GIC of 11kCAD for POF, I have my payslip, I have a reference letter from my current job here in the Netherlands and I also have my last work contract from ukraine. The problem is my home tie to Nigeria, I am not sure I have a strong home tie to Nigeria as I will be returning home in few weeks from now to do my medicals and then apply for my visa. Below is what I have for home tie;

1) A Gift deed from my Dad, which is a house and its about 1.5 plot. The Land survey was done in 1998, but without a property value. In the gift deed we valued it at 25 million naira. It was sworn and signed in the high Court with the necessary stamp

2) My 2.5 plot of land which is my birth right. No land survey was done, just Irrevocable Power Of Attorney which was valued at 8 million naira and it was also sworn and signed in the High Court with stamp

3) Affidavit of Facts from my Father, which was sworn and stamped in the High court

Gurus in the house, please is this property documents sufficient to prove home tie to Nigeria or what else can you suggest ?
Properties aren't just home ties checked. Home and economic ties are basically the things the VO thinks will bring you back to Nigeria after your study. Personally, I don't think properties alone does it as you can stay in Canada and still own your properties.
Home ties like familiy, responsibilities back home that you would need to return to, economic ties like business or job back home in Nigeria etc.
