Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday said he did not regret establishing the Federal Public Complaints Commission during his tenure as a military head of state. Obasanjo said this when the Commissioner, Federal Public Complaints Commission in Ogun State, Mrs Oluyemisi Somorin-Dawodu paid him a courtesy visit in his Presidential Hilltop residence in Abeokuta. Decree 31 of 1975 of the Supreme Military Council established the FPCC, which has since transformed into the Public Complaints Commission, when Obasanjo was head of state. Obasanjo stated that the commission was established to create a platform through which the ordinary people in the society could be defended and secure justice. The former president who stressed the continued relevance of the commission noted that the objective for which the body was established was being met. “As I listen to radio and hear the less privileged talk about the relief and justice they got through the assistance of the commission, then I have no regrets ever establishing the body. “Although I cannot say that the need we saw then has completely disappeared, but there have been testimonies of cases where the commission has come to the rescue of the helpless,” he said. Obasanjo assured that he would continue to provide necessary support to complement government’s efforts in enhancing the operations of the commission. Earlier in her remarks, the FPCC solicited Obasanjo’s assistance in the renovation of the roofless office complex of the commission in Otta. She also sought the assistance in the commission’s bid to establish an area office in Abeokuta North council area for more effective operations. Addressing newsmen later, the FPCC boss said the commission had concluded over 25 cases out of the 100 complaints it received since her assumption of office as the head of the organization in April, 2015. She expressed regret that the operation of the commission was being hampered by paucity of funds. Source: http://zumiinfo.com/2015/07/no-regrets-establishing-public-complaints-commission-obasanjo/ |
Robin van Persie insisted he has “no hard feelings” over his departure from Manchester United after completing his move to Fenerbahce on Tuesday. The striker, 31, ended a three-year stay at Old Trafford to join the Turkish side for an undisclosed fee. He said: “It’s part of football, it’s part of life. It was a situation where I could see it coming, if I’m really honest.” Van Persie added that he “got used to the idea” of leaving United. He said: “I had a good moment with the players the day before I came to Istanbul so that was special. Then you see that everyone really appreciated my time there, that was important for me.” The Netherlands international, who praised the “very classy” way in which his transfer was handled by Manchester United chief executive officer Ed Woodward, was unveiled in front of about 10,000 Fenerbahce supporters inside the club’s stadium. He told them: “I promise you one thing – I will do everything in my power to help Fenerbahce win as many trophies to make you happy. Let’s do it together. You have a wonderful family, many true friends and a dream job. You exercise, eat whole foods and read a lot of books. You believe you are happy and live a great lifestyle, but when you have to solve any problems, your life doesn’t seem bright and happy. So let me ask you a little question. Do you overcome rough times without wrecking your nervous system? The problem is, we stay optimistic only when everything is going well, and become pessimistic once the problem appears. If it sounds familiar to you, read on to find out how to train yourself to be an optimist whatever happens in your life. 1. Are they better than me? No way “Don’t compare yourself to others,” you hear it almost every day but can’t follow this rule. Comparison can ruin your self-esteem and prevent you from living the life you want. If someone seems to be more successful it doesn`t mean that you don’t deserve to be happy. Even billionaires have bad days, and have many problems to fix. You`re unique so be proud of that instead of indulging in someone`s advantages. Your luck is waiting for you; if you have to accomplish a hard task today, do it with a positive attitude and you won’t notice that it’s actually hard. 2. Get rid of negative words Being an optimist means speak optimistically too. Avoid saying anything like “I can`t”,“It`s not a good time for that yet” or “I`m not good enough to do that.” When you say “I know I can”, “There`s nothing to prevent me from success in…” or “I have enough power to change my life,” you automatically train your mind to succeed. 3. Don’t be afraid of failure Changing your attitude towards the situation is an important step to more optimistic and positive you. Don’t let the situation rule your life. If you can`t find a job, don’t be angry or upset because you risk finding any. Every failure is a blessing in disguise. When you accept it optimistically, you overcome it faster, without damaging your health. 4. Start your day with a positive message Write down some inspirational quotes to remind you that you should never give up. Start your morning by reading at least 5 positive quotes to get inspired to take action. Inspirational quotes are wonderful nuggets of wisdom condensed into two lines, which can help you train yourself to be an optimist. 5. Listen to positive music Psychologists recommend listening to the positive music every morning. It gives you energy all day long and helps cope with stress more effectively. Music can really get deeply inside our soul and our thoughts so if you are trying to handle a tough situation, music will cheer you up and help keep your mental well-being healthy. 6. Love yourself Optimists tend to love themselves and forgive themselves for everything they did in the past. Pessimists tend to dwell on their past mistakes and hate any flaw they have. Now it’s up to you to decide whether you want to be an optimist or a pessimist. If you choose the first option, fall in love with your flaws and habits. You can’t be perfect, no one is actually perfect. No matter how hard you try, you can’t change your height, birthmarks, the size of your feet and the shape of your face and body so why not stop worrying about those things. 7. Enjoy your everyday life Life is better when you enjoy it. The last but not least way to teach yourself to be an optimist is to learn how to enjoy your everyday life. Your daily life is not always fun and exciting. Oftentimes, you get stuck in a rut and give way to despair, which is why you don’t know exactly if you are a pessimist or an optimist. True optimists know how to enjoy a boring life so your task is to do the same. Being an optimist isn`t as difficult as it may seem yet it requires some time and effort. You can read tons of positive books and spend tons of money on courses that promise to boost your positivity in a week/month, but you will never move away from pessimism if you don’t make positivity part of your everyday life. Once upon a time, apps like Clean Master and All In One Toolbox aided the android user in making the smartphone operating system experience in to a faster and more enjoyable one. Now, thanks to the latest updates of these operating systems, such apps’ functionalities of RAM cleaning and Task killing are no longer required. In fact, using them over and over again will detriment the performance of your android smartphone. For users who have an abounding number of maintenance apps present in their devices, here are three reasons why you should avoid using RAM cleaners and Task killers. 1. Android is not a Windows operating system android_windows1 There is a huge difference between using a Windows operating system and using the android operating system. Ranging from their interface to their functionalities; everything is different about both operating systems. That being said, the difference in operating systems will also require the user to maintain the performance of the android device using different means rather than just using RAM cleaners and Task killers. While using Windows, you will have to follow the popular adage: ‘The more the better’ which automatically translates that the more memory you have present in your system, the better your experience is going to be. This is because programs running in Windows need as much RAM as possible to perform at optimum levels. If you have a lower amount of RAM, then the Windows operating system will start using your hard disk space as virtual RAM to compensate for the limited RAM you have in your system; and to top it all, we all know that a hard disk will never be as fast as RAM modules so you will end up with choppy performance. How is the Android operating system different? We are glad you asked that. In a nut shell, it’s very different. For starters, the operating system is organized enough to keep an automatic handler for a$$igning the right amount of RAM to apps In order to make sure that these applications are working in the best way possible. Android purposely tries to keep apps loaded into RAM for better performance, something that is very different in Windows. If you’re a master of multitasking, then make sure that the next smartphone you intend on purchasing is loaded with a minimum of 2 GB of RAM because the apps that you have stuffed in your device are no doubt very hungry. An important thing to mention is that the user will not experience any performance hit whatsoever for leaving the apps running in the background. Thanks to the operating system’s own RAM handler, your apps are also taken care of in such a way that they do not end up utilizing the necessary processing power that you will need for executing and completing other tasks. 2. Continuously using RAM cleaners and Taskkillers will reduce your internal memory’s and SD card’s lifespan SD slot In a Windows operating system, mechanical hard drives with movable disks are typically used to store tons of data. The world his slowly yet surely started to make a steady transition from traditional mechanical hard drives to solid stage drives. Unlike traditional mechanical hard drives, solid state drives do not possess any movable parts. They do however, comprise up of NAND flash memory to store data and therefore, under any circumstances should NOT be defragmented. The exact same principle can be used for Android devices. Since these devices do not comprise up of any movable disks, the use of RAM cleaners and Task killers will end up being a deleterious operation for your devices. When you clear apps from RAM, Android is just going to load them into the RAM again the next time it needs to access those apps (which can happen when notifications, updates, and other background details sprout up). The constant killing of apps will actually end up being a slower operation since it takes more time to load apps on to the RAM than it takes to actually keep them running in the background. Furthermore, killing tasks and loading them in to RAM comsumes more battery life and utilizes additional CPU’s power. So in the end, you will be making far more sacrifices than you should; including the one where you reduce the lifespan of the SD card and internal flash memory of the device. 3. There are other suitable alternatives to maintaining your device First off. Stop using the RAM cleaner and Task killer apps altogether. If you can reduce the frequency of usingl these apps then you will be doing your device a favor. However, uninstalling these will increase the longevity of your devices. Sadly, we know that is not possible since there are other functions of using these apps which are deemed useful. Some of the functions accompanied by these apps are as follows + Clearing the cache + Deleting browser history + Erasing call logs + Erasing unnecessary and temporary files off SD card The most resourceful thing to do in this kind of situation is to disable the functionality of automatic task killing that the app undertakes. Do this, and you will not have to worry about anything else. However, if your head is still hovering around removing the apps that you do not want to use currently, then you can get rid of them by tapping or holding the ‘recent apps’ button on your device, and one by one, swipe the apps in either direction. We hope that this article has edified you in bringing you one step closer on how exactly your android device works. Stop using RAM cleaners and Task killers altogether, and you will breathe new life in to your device. Another bomb blast with minimal damages has rocked Jimeta the Adamawa state capital Thursday when two youngsters aged between nine and eleven years narrowly escaped by whiskers when the IED they had exploded. Reports have it that the young stars had been told by the man who handed the bomb to them to go and sell it to one old man who deals on scraps. He had then given them N2,500.00. And when the young men approached the old man, he reportedly told them that the object was small and will not buy it and so they left. The incidence took place at Kofare area opposite the offices of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at about 11:20 am along Yola-Numan road. It was gathered that on noticing the object they were carrying was smoking, they threw it down and tried to escape but the resultant explosion caused a serious injury to one of them while a woman standing by the road side was equally injured. Men of the FRSC took hold of the two youths who claimed they were given the object by someone. Security men reacted to the alert and they cordon off the area while several people have been picked for questioning including the two youths while the other two have since disappeared. But according to the FRSC boss, Luka Ikpi who was on the scene said initially, they had thought the sound was from a tyre burst but one of the shrapnel from the bomb fell into the premises of the commission. Both the Police Commissioner Gabriel Adaji, and the Police spokesman Othman Abubakar were not on seat as they were said to be away in Abuja for an official engagement while a senior police officer who will not want his name in print confirmed the incident. Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule, yesterday hosted Mrs. Ruth Uche whose husband abandoned after she was delivered of a set of twins, her third. Adebule advised the run-away husband to come forward and take up the responsibility of taking care of his family, admonishing him to be appreciative of the divine blessings that have come his way through the children. Mrs. Uche was hosted at the deputy governor’s office following the directive of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode that the woman and her children be rehabilitated and assisted by all relevant government agencies to ensure they are in good condition. Speaking at her office, the deputy governor sympathized with Mrs Uche over the traumatic experience of trying to raise six children following the disappearance of her husband. She assured her that the government will ensure the children’s well-being. She thanked the woman for coming forward to seek help instead of abandoning the children. “As a woman and a mother, I can only imagine what you have gone through managing six children, it must have been energy sapping and depressing, but I salute your courage and I want to assure you that this government will not abandon you, we will stand by you and ensure that you are assisted to get back to a normal life,” Adebule said. The Deputy Governor added that the governor had approved the release of some amount of money, which will be paid into an account and part of it used to attend to some of the immediate needs of the children and their mother, adding that officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation have been directed to provide the necessary logistics support to her. Mrs. Uche expressed appreciation to the government for supporting her, noting that the love shown to her and her children could only have come from a government that truly cares about the well being of its people. Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima has urged fleeing residents of attacked Zabarmari and Hadamari villages to return, as troops will provide protection against any Boko Haram attacks or bombings on the affected farming and herding communities in the state. The governor, while addressing surviving residents of Zabarmari, urged the fleeing villagers trooping to Maiduguri to return to their respective houses. “Since the military have repelled the insurgents from destroying this village, the people should not run and flee to Maiduguri for safety, but return to your homes which were burnt apart from the torched shops and local market,” Shettima said. He also assured them that the state government will rebuild the destroyed shops and market, so that the people could continue with their normal daily activities. “Meanwhile, I am going with two village heads now along with your councillor to Maiduguri to collect food items and other basic needs of life for distribution. A patrol vehicle will be released to CJTF for this village’s patrol and surveillances,” Shettima promised. Councilor of the affected area, Alhaji Mohammed Bello while briefing the governor on recent attacks, said the soldiers have tried their best in repelling the insurgents. However, the soldiers should be re-equipped with modern fighting weapons, because the insurgents’ three-hour attacks could have been nipped in the bud to save people’s lives and property. A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Ahmadu Bello, told Vanguard that after the soldiers repelled the insurgents, they fled to a nearby village known as Koshobe, seven kilometres east of Zabarmari village. “As I’m talking to you now; the insurgents are hiding in Koshobe village, not very far away from this village attacked recently when seven people were killed, with the injuring of nine others taken to Maiduguri hospital for treatments,” said Bello. Do you really want a quick, easy and natural way to make your b*tt bigger and rounder—but you don’t know where to start? Well, if you follow these tips, you should see results sooner than you think.. below are 7 simple tips on how to make your b*tt bigger without surgery. Enjoy.. 1. Wear high heels. Heels can change the natural curve of your spine, causing both your b*tt and your b**bs to protrude more. NOTE: If you’re not sure that this works, get in front of a mirror and stand up on your tiptoes. Take a few steps, and you’ll notice how the movements of your legs and b*tts are a little more enlarged. Your legs should also look more toned, and your b*tt should appear to be an inch or two higher. 2. The smaller you can get your waist while building up your b*tt, the more your hips will appear wider and your b*tt bigger and rounder. So for this reason, it’s important you include the right type of core exercises in your routine. If you’re going for the hourglass waist look, don’t do any yoga or Pilates abdominal exercises as they will only give you that boxed, straight looking torsos. Try doing exercise such as jogging, belly dancing, twist crunches, and side crunches. 3. Build up your b*tt muscles. You can make your b*tt rounder and larger by increasing the strength of the muscles in it, known as your gluteus. Do the following exercises at least 3 times a week for the best and fastest results: • Squats. The best b*tt expanding exercise is the full squat. Stand erect with your feet about shoulder width apart and your arms extended in front of you. Bend your knees to a ninety degree angle with your back straight, then rise back up. Do this 3 times a day, and in each set, repeat 20 times • b*tt Bridges. Lie on your back with your knees bent and your arms at your sides. Lift your b*tt toward the ceiling, then lower it. Do this 3 times a day, and in each set, repeat 10 times • You can also do kick backs. Stand on one leg. With the leg that is free off the ground, kick it back until you see your b*tt squeeze into a bubble. Repeat 10 times and switch to the other leg. 4. Change the way you walk. Throw your shoulders back and curve your lower back. This will not only make your b*tt more spectacular, but it will also slim your body a bit and make your chest look bigger. 5. You Can Also Try Wearing a Girdle By wearing a girdle often, it will start pushing the excess fat from you abdominal down to your hips. Not only will it instantly make your tummy smaller, the more you wear the girdle, you will begin training your stomach to stay sucked in. So you should find a good girdle and try wearing it often. 6. Try sports that build your leg and b*ttocks muscles. hobbies such as Running Cycling, Swimming, Gymnastics, Skipping, Volleyball, Soccer could also simultaneously enhance your b*tts. 7. Put on the right pants. • Baggy pants will “drown” your curves, making them impossible to see underneath. too much fabric. Skinny jeans or leggings are ideal for showing off your b*tt • Small, high back pockets will make your b*tt appear larger. Avoid jeans with big pockets or no pockets at all. • You can also try high-waisted jeans.. the top of the pants should fit around the slimmest part of your waist, making it look small and your b*tt appear bigger. In summary: Don’t stop exercising after you’re happy with your results or else you’re more likely to fall back to how you looked before. You should not expect to see immediate results. It takes time to get the best result, so stay focused and be patient. Make sure your diet has enough protein to support muscle growth. Big b*tts or not, always love yourself just the way you are.
