Work went on well here. More materials were brought in like sand, gravel, filling sand etc. We shall buy more cement and wood tomorrow. Foundation block setting will be rounded off tomorrow so we can start the concrete works after the carpentry works.

OMG! Why in the world will someone build a house in such a place/land?
@Spyder: do you think that house owner will continue or just let go of the project? What options or solution does he have in this situation?

Looking at the height of the foundation, I think this guy knew how things can get. This type of flooding happens only twice a year. The water has since receded more than 300 meters to the river.

Na wa oh! I guess he won't be welcoming visitors especially with cars during raining season.

This is the picture of same house taken 30 mins ago, a different look entirely. Like I said before, the water has gone back to where it came from.

The reason I left these planks as tall as it this is because I will still need to reuse it, no need cutting it in half now.

somebody is filling the dried portions, the rains are falling as I type this, and I know it will be helping these filled portions of the foundation.

some pages back, somebody was asking if I use sealed fittings to do my plumbing works, well look at this new technology we use these days to fit the toilet seat to the waste pipe outside. The connector is adjustable, flexible and easy to fit.

Re: Building A 5 Bedroom Duplex In Ebonyi State by spyder880(m): 11:53pm On Aug 18, 2012
as simple as remove the wrappings

and fit in seconds, this is airtight, watertight. I am always on the look out for new tech.

http://vimeo.com/43598306. Hey Spyder see this house in Issele-uku, Delta State. This house is owned by Nuel Ojei of Nuel Ojei holdings. So What do you think?

Sorry I tried to create a separate thread for this magnificent House but the Moderator did not allow it. May be because a similar thread was created at business/money section. I personally think it should be here in property.

The architects complained of what every person that has built a house in Nigeria has complained of-poor finishing by the original contractors. Although the house looks nice on first look.

I took time to read the article, and it is clear this house was well planned. I saw somewhere in the article where it was mentioned that the simulation alone took 7 months. I know they will be camped in good, safe locations while designing the house. A mention was also made about how they went to Italy and met a carpet maker to custom make some carpets for the house.
All in all, this type of project is on the big league. I am not saying everybody needs to do things that way but I have always been fascinated by superlative home designs, especially the internal details. Once the structure of a house is sound, ie you ensure the adherence to best practices in material sizes and quality. The emphasis should be on the final delivery. My desire has always been to cut the costs of building houses but I know I can really raise the bar if I find a client with class.
This does not come cheap no matter how we try, quality does not come cheap. One of these days I will go into furnishing, then I will bring in the guys I have been building aliances with to come do some exploits for us all to see. As I always point out, I have people outside the shores of Nigeria ready to bring in their craft in some of my projects.

I am set to play in the highest league in the building industry, this is just the begining.

We just came back from Ebonyi state where we started the installation of the internal plumbing fittings on this building. This is the stage to install them just before the floor slab and the slab will be cast on it. We are also getting ready other materials for the slab. More pictures later this night.
