ayee001: I continuously educate people in my community about government actions and inactions.

This is the MOST important thing to do NOW. That will grow people's consciousness of The Social Contract.
This is what I am doing through various platforms while helping as many as possible to get a good formal education and entrepreneurial/career success mentoring.
I hope to get involved in setting up a Vocational Training Centre later.

Okija_juju: Short Term Goal - Make so much money so I can raise my Kids to be useful to society.. Also, set up a merit scholarship scheme for intelligent and gifted children in the South.. The number would be determined by the amount of money I have.. But it would be to train kids abroad in places like MIT, Havard and Princeton..

Long Term goal - Join Politics and become a state governor or the President... Reason being that some of the things that I feel are wrong in this country cant be fixed without being in power.. Example: Oppression of the poor and under-priviledged of our society by the rich and the politicians. They use their mobile police escorts to bully and intimidate the populace, drive against traffic, break the law at will and psychologically and physically oppress the citizens. This can only be stopped from the inside..

Better join the army and stage a coup, thats the only way you can get absolute power to implement what you are talking about.

k2039: Short term goals:finish my bachelor in petroleum engineering then proceed for my masters in petroleum engineering at Univeristy of texas.
I prefer working in Nigeria, become a renowned engineer(the best me(antigbagaun and misscorrection I know it should be I,no correction please) can be in my field, get married,be the ideal and best husband for my wife and a wonderful father for my kids(this are the one's withing my immediate control,I have greater influence on them,to build the nigeria of our dreams,it begins with raising the best family)
When I get financial independent enough(I have the mark,as in net worth),I have decided to give a certain amount of my earnings to charity, community work etc.

PRIVATE VICTORY PRECEED PUBLIC VICTORY

LONG TERM
The ultimate destination is the Nigeria senate(Ekite central senatorial district),if we have to build the Nigeria of our dream, then people with the right values and the best interest should take political offices.

Well this is a miniature of my constitution and mission statement.I have a more comprehensive one on how I want to acheive each one.

Well everything eventually boils down to Grace, ofcourse short term are within my control but long term.....sighs.
Talk is cheap, lets break down some of the hurdles you people will need to think about in your mission to save Nigeria. lets go one by one.

After getting your wonderful family, being an ideal husband and father you will now go into politics?
You will not get far in Nigerian politics as a straight forward person where assasins, ritualists, Fraudsters are political kingpins. They only need to come to your front door and release two gun shots and you will withdraw from any political contest you are involved in.

ogugua88: I'll start with myself.

SHORT-TERM GOAL: Embark on a medical mission in Anambra. Every year, doctors residing in North America from Anambra do a medical mission during the summer of every year. I missed the deadline this year, so my goal is to go next year.

LONG-TERM GOAL: Finish my Health Science program, concentration in Community Health Education, and enter medical school. Obtain dual DO/MPH (Doctor of Osteopathy/Masters of Public Health, global health concentration) and practice here for a while, before returning to Nigeria to open two free clinics, one in Delta, another in Anambra, which will provide free basic health care and physicals.

Who's next?
Talk is cheap, lets break down some of the hurdles you people will need to think about in your mission to save Nigeria. lets go one by one.

You want to leave North America to Eastern Nigeria, You are strictly on your own! Before coming, devise a fool proof means of avoiding being kidnapped. If you are kidnapped as a woman, you can imagine what will happen to you. Eastern Nigeria is the Kidnap HQ of Nigeria. Living abroad can often get you deluded that you can make so much impact, There are 160million people inside Nigeria, whatever is preventing them from moving Nigeria forward is more than able to prevent the few of you coming from North america.

short-term - use every waking opportunity i get to tell my fellow Nigerian to.. WAKE DA FKUC UP angry
long-term - remind every fellow Nigerian that we are victims because we choose to be, our leaders are villains because we made them so. It lies within every Nigerian to change Nigeria not prayers, not complaining and definitely not the WEST can do it for us.

Make money enough to open a big school for the talented kids/adults all over the country. In the school, everything will be taught in pidgin not oyinbo english. There will be no form of paper writing exam to gain admission into this school, all you have to do is convince us with your talent and you are in.. Each department will have a group of people with similar talent. Every single thing done in the school will be practical..
While their mates are in Uniben,Unilag, uniport and others cramming bunch of theories, and un-neccessary and un-useful stuffs,my students will be busy with their work and talent..
When a new invention/discovery is made,we can show-case it to the fedral government and if they approve,large-scale production shall begin, and trust me,with time our economy will be strong and local products will start dominating the market..
To cut the long story short,i just want to create a platform/enviroment that will enable our talented youths to show-case their talent and at the same time, improve many sectors of our economy.. Our youths are talented, and have what it takes to raise this country high, but they face many challenges/barriers like english language(many guys who are talented cant speak english, they only know how to speak pidgin or their local dialect. Tell me how these guys can use their talent to help a country that sees anyone who cant speak english as an inferior)theory without practical,un-friendly enviroment, lack of tools etc ..
I want to bring education to their comfort zone, and make them enjoy it a the same time, and give them a chance to raise this country.. Our educational system today is a joke. Someone who spent 5years studying computer engineering in the university and graduated with first class cant even replace common laptop screen or usb port... WTF
You studied petroleum engineeringand graduated with first class, but cant differentiate between petrol and kerosine abi na kerosene.. WTF
If we want to move forward,we need to stop decieving ourselves..

The laws are there quite right, the law says do not steal, No robbery, no kidnapping, no assassination, Drive on the right lane, do not smoke in public places, do not ask for bribe and do not give bribe, bail is free, do not own unlicensed firearms, do not vandalise public property, No election malpractice, no exam malpractice e.t.c

How many of those laws listed above are being obeyed. Why are they being disobeyed today, what will you do differently to ensure that the laws are obeyed?

This dude might seem to some ppl as enemy of progress or pessimist but he is actually not. He is the one stating the most fact on this thread. It is pretty impressive to see how positive ppl are towards changing Nigeria for good but TALK IS CHEAP... VERY VERY CHEAP. It is not impossible to change the country if we work together collectively but the question is how does it happen? Ogugua88 has a very good ambition but has she taken into consideration who and who she would work with when she gets to Nigeria? How does she find ppl who shares the same passion with her, those are much more difficult than the entire project plan.

Have u guys tried going back to do anything in Nigeria before and see how it turns out? Let me tell u this, I helped in a project sometimes back, to help kids without sport shoes in Nigeria. We collected 550 pairs of used shoes thru a facebook page across 3 cities in the Netherlands and shipped it to Nigeria. The matron of the partner organisation in Nigeria was in charge of the shoes and when we got to Nigeria we realized there was a problem because the number of pupils that got sport shoes that we could record were just a little above 100 and after alot of arguments they could neither produce the rest of the shoes nor the recipients. I buried my head in shame because the Dutch colleagues were very disappointed and the project was evaluated as a fail and unsuccessful.

What is the point I am trying to make? if u want to do anything in Nigeria, u must be ready to do about 80% of the project by ur own self otherwise u may not achieve ur desired aim.

Good Question.. Here is my Answer..

If I get into power.. Either as a Minister, Governor or President, My first point of duty would be to re-organize the Judiciary, Police (and all attached Law enforcement agencies) and then Build new minimum security prisons/correctional facilities..

The Judiciary would have to start handling cases fast and quickly.. The police would be trained by international professionals on non-lethal arrest techniques (and these big AK-47s would be taken from them and replaced with batons, Beretta pistols and stun guns..

THE Courts: People should be sentenced to jail or given an option of a fine & community service.. NIGERIANS need to know and fear the LAW first of all.. When we all know, respect and obey the law, then we can tackle any other problemin the country..

Short term goal
*I am training myself to never speak negative about my country Nigeria. When you speak/think negative, you will get negative results.
* Speak to young people about business/financial education and the need to wake the financial genius in them.

Long term goals
*I will invest in areas like education, aviation, oil and gas, automobiles and health. I am going to be the biggest employer of labour in Nigeria.
*I will also encourage youths to take entrepreneurial opportunities and act on them vehemently and vigorously.
*Ama have my own charity foundation just like Bill, raise money from other business tycoons to help the less privileged ones.
*Ama build standard libraries(Just like Andrew Carnegie) in different communties to inculcate the habit of reading and learning.

I BELIEVE IN A GREAT NIGERIA!
