KnowAll: With the kind of money some of those South-South Governors get on a monthly basis and spend willy-nilly without any checks, restrictions, or restrain, is it not a fallacy to think Dangote is the richest Nigerian? In Lagos, Tinunbu/Fashola and his cronies who have held the commercial heart of Nigeria for 13 years are the God-Fathers of this city that has the reputation of being the 5th largest economy in Africa if it were a country shocked, Do we know what that interprets into in Pence, Cents, Pounds £££, and Dollars$$$$. shocked

Are these gentlemen who keep on promising us the 4th mainland bridge not richer than Dangote? They and their cronies have bought all the prime lands in Lagos, any infrastructural built by these quite and easy going 'Capone' they make sure they take a token in form of levying the so called 20 million "mugus" in Lagos, the Lekki Toll comes to mind, same thing would be applicable to the Ikoyi-Lekki link Bridge, A token in form of a levy would be paid by anyone who wants to take this short route to Lekki Peninsula, these gentlemen without underestimating their might, would probably build Eko Atlantic City single handedly without any in-put from banks or any financial institutions, are these people not richer than Dangote? lipsrsealed undecided

They Fashola/Tinubu gave Akeredolu a blank cheque to fight the election in Ondo State knowing fully well their man has no chance in hell against a formidable opponent like Mimiko, yet they went ahead and bank-rolled the expedition. All the funds expended on that debacle of an election has now been summarily written off by the duo Tinunbu/Fashola, while Akeredolu is not a penny short despite going through such a titanic battle. If it were to happen to mere mortals like me and you, we would be dead broke. No doubt these two gentlemen, do really have deep pockets.

What of Akpabio, Odili, Udughan, Amechi and Silvia. Nothing on the ground to show they have spent their monthly allocations wisely and judiciously. In Port Harcourt a fly-over that was undergoing construction suddenly crashed, are the good people of Rivers State not short-changed by these cutting-corner roughish tactics of Mr Governor? all we see in Asaba, Uyo and Yenogoa are Keke Nepap, an eye-sore looking vehicle that was never part of the Nigerian terriaine. What has happened to those mouth-watering allocation? shocked Rumours have it Odili owns Arik, Amechi has 2 refineries in Ghana, and Silvia's own houses all over the place which are currently under-going lock-down by EFCC.

Asaba still looks like a village despite the huge allocation from the FG, the only major project done so far in this dispensation is that over-inflated, over-rated and under-use Airport. Silvia built a fantastic Governor's lodge for himself and nothing else, yet for the time he was Governor he got close to a N1 Trillion Naira, what d fuccckk has he done with all those fund?

Akapbio seems to be the knight in shining Armour, at least he built a few over inflated fly-over’s in Uyo Township going to no where . Uyo a city of modest traffic does not need such frivolities at this time of her development, when one looks at a clip of those fly-overs, one cannot but notice those un-ubiquitous keke-nepap gliding over d fly-over’s like kids sliding down a bouncing castle, even at that, one would expect 100's of keke-nepap moving up and down the road but to one's astonishment there appears to be just a few of them on these grandiose, over-inflated road made from gold dust, it would seem. lipsrsealed Rumours have it he is the richest Nigerian(do not quote me) lipsrsealed

So back to my initial Question, Is Dangote still the richest Nigeria?, well maybe, Dangote might edge it by a lttle notch, but if another crony of Tinunbu were to be elected into Alausa, the worth of that tight knit Lagos Mafiosi 'family' would be anyone's guess. cool lipsrsealed
Yes he's d richest man on paper, but if we look around in this country, we'll see dat many people are richer dan him, not even in d likes of d south-south governors or chiefs, or Tinubu or Fashola in Lagos, let look at some business men who are not educated, but they av this money. So he's not d richest man in Nigeria

Democracy these days have made that Less easier, the "Now" poLiticians can rob the country to fat their purses ONLY when money comes their way, definiteLy Not cLOSE 2 THE TUNE of about 13BILLION dollars(thats 160bILLIOn Naira In 13 folds)--dangote's asset
-
If as mentioned in the other thread about the "wonders going on in Akwa Ibom State", it was hinted by one of the contributors that AK State gets N11.6 billion Naira every month as 13% derivatives, plus another N2.6 Billion as statutory fund, not talking of how much the state generates internally, and also not mentioning the LG funds which the Governor's also have access to.

It would not be inconceivable to think a greedy Governor who wants to be d richest man pocketing the whole 11.6 billion. If we do the maths 11.6 x 12 = will just be short of N144 billion a year, and they have 8 years to go. Just in one year, a greedy South-South Governor would have almost dusted Dangote's wealth of (160 billion). So it means if they steal just halff of the Derivatives over a 8 year period they would still dust Dangote's wealth. At the end of their tenure just stealing half of the fund would be N5 Billion X 12 = N60 Billion a year X 8 = N240 Billion!! shocked

This analysis is scary, I hope those South-South Governor's are not as greedy as mentioned above !!! shocked

Wealth is not only counted by the numbers of wads you have in your account, but by investments I mean sustainable businesses, goodwill etc most of these politicians just stashed their money in the bank and are afraid of investing them so you can't compare that with someone that has most of his money invested to generate more money. In no time when politician becomes irrelevant, their wealth also dwindles.

Officially the richest man in the whole of Africa. Whoever wan challenge am make him come out, Forbes would be glad to investigate his/her claim. Any challenger should come out and be weighed or else he/she should shut up.

One cant claim to be a better player than Leonel Messi , when he cant prove it to FIFA.
Re: Is Dangote Really The Richest Nigerian??? by Nobody: 8:39pm On Jan 06, 2013
Dangote is the richest Nigerian man in Nigeria and it wont change for a long time.

Dangote is the biggest producer of cement in Nigeria. Cement sells like fuel and purewater in Nigeria. And Dangote controls more than 50% of the cement market in Nigeria. Aside cement, he is into noodles, juice, salt, flour, spaghetti, sugar, oil and gas. He is king in Sugar and Salt just like in Cement.

Ask any cement dealer what Dangote has. The amount of deposits he collects daily will blow your mind. He paid for 5,000 SINO(HOWO) trucks in one day which he uses to distribute his cement to depots all over Nigeria. One of such brand new trucks goes for as much as N15million.

Aside Nigeria, Dangote cement has spread to about 14 other countries across Africa. When Dangote cement was listed on the NSE, it had the highest capitalisation ever by a Nigerian company. It was listed at a value of 14 billion U.S. Dollars, over 2 trillion naira at the prevailing exchange rate. Do you know what that meant He collected about 2.1 trillion naira from Nigerians/investors and added to his business.... Go and sleep over this.

Wrong Analysis I thought Dangote's wealth is 160 Billion Naira. Dangote's wealth is actually 160 Billion x 13 = $13 Billion dollars. No Governor can be rich as Dangote, they would have to steal $1.5 BILLION Annually and that is not possible. But a motley crew like Tinunbu and his cohorts can supercede that becos they operate like a Mafia unlike the South-South Governors who are soloist.

ibori dos not 1% of dangote wealth..ibori is worth about 300million dollars which is about 45billion naira nd 250million pounds was seized from him by d british..dangote is worth 1.8 trillion naira..so please no governor in nigerian can steal 1trillion naira in 8 years nah...let us be realistic wit our figures...how many states get 1trillion in 8 years.. Nd d total abacha loot was 3billion dollars..d abacha family is poor compare to dangote family now..dat is a fact

proof please. Besides, Dangote's wealth can be traced and verified. It has a success story, so are the other richest men in the world such as bill gates, warren buffet, zuckerberg etc. They all have success stories bcoz we know how and where they started from.
But these others(IBB, OBJ, ABDULSALAM, TINUBU, etc) we all know atleast we envisage how they cut corners to earn their own. Even if they might have wealth more than dangote, they know that everyone knows they got their wealth through dishonest means at the expense of the populace. Abi no be so?

KnowAll: we all keep on saying theives are the richest Nigeria, how much does Nigeria as a country make a year. And remember the FG has reponsible for all these below and more that I cannot even mention : -

Payments of all Fed Civil Servants including the Army, Airforce, Navy.
Payments for the salary of Customs, Prisons and Immigration.
Paymets of Teachers, Lecturer's and VC's Salary in Federal Schools, Federal Poly's and Fed Universities.
Paymets of Salaries of Federal Parastatal like Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigerian Airports Authority, Nigerian Television Authority e.t.c
Disbursement to States, which will in turn make payments to their civil servants and their parastatals,
Disbursement to Local Goverments,
Maintain Foreign Embassies Abroad.

So "How Much come remain for Head of State to steal now"
My friend the real deal is in the oil field allocations and exploration by the politicians. Most of these politicians are involved in oil businesses and not necessarily budgeted allocation and fiscal policy regimes. The yearly budgets are just for the ministers, perm secretaries and head of parastatals to help themselves.

During the subsidy scandals, how many genuine businessmen was arraign by the EFCC? Wasn't the list of arrested guys and cronies made up of politicians kids and business fronts?

Do you even know that 50percent of all contract sum in a particular project awarded belong to the signatory politician. They even collect their cut upfront leaving the contractor meagre sum to deliver a poor project.

Being the governor of an oil rich state of rivers or delta, I don't need to touch budget allocations, all I need do is to hire oil barges within a short frame after I must have accomplished all the requisite For bunkering activity start thieving the oil for serious offshore business.

Dangote was given a chance to monopolize by previous administration therefore his own is not even legal. According to forbes he is the richest but unofficially he is not because corrupt politicians registered companies and opened bank accounts with the name of other people
Re: Is Dangote Really The Richest Nigerian??? by chreldb(m): 9:23pm On Jan 06, 2013
KnowAll: But at times we might be over exergerating IBB's, Abacha's and any other head of state's wealth. If Nigeria as a country only makes $30 billion dollars a year, how could it be possible for someone like Abacha to be Richer than Dangote. Abacha would have to steal the whole $30 billion year in year out which is not possible?

I think you have a very good point here. The amount of money Dangote group controls is more than four different state allocation put together. Like you rightly said the government makes about 30 billion annually from oil sales. To further butress your point, take a look @ this analogy. 2,000,000 barrels @ $100 per barrel equates to $200,000,000 per day multiply that by 365 and you get $730,000,000,000. 60% of that is what comes to the FGN while the oil companies share the remaining 40%. so the FGN earns about 43 billion dollars yearly from oil. 40% of that is shared among the 36 states although not equally (I stand to be corrected). So what the FGN has @ the end of the year is 25.8 billion dollars while the 36 states and FCT share about 17.2 billion annually. Like you stated first of all salaries are been paid to civil servants and political office holders @ the federal and state level. Money is also been spent on other recurrentand capital projects. Make no mistakes this government officials, civil servants and political office holders steal a lot of money! But they dont have access to steal the kind of money that will make them richer than Dangote. And dont forget that they dont stay in office forever but for a period. Dangote is worth 11.8 billion dollars, IMO he is the richest Nigerian documented or not irrespective of whether the source of wealth from the individual is crooked or honest. Any way you turn the coin, heads or tails Dangote is still the richest. If you think otherwise, then feel free to debunk and discredit me but tackle the points I raised.

Re: Is Dangote Really The Richest Nigerian??? by Reference(m): 9:27pm On Jan 06, 2013
Its all about evidence. Dangote is the richest by the facts presented to the assessors not speculation or rumours. That's why the bulk of those on any rich list will be chieftans of publically traded companies. Its also the reason why Americans dominated the list at one time. As the BRIC countries opened their books they too have moved up the list. Even wealthy Arabs are sparse due to lack of transparency with those mentioned having significant investment in the west.

IBB and Co. MAY, MAY be richer but I doubt if they will be available to prove it.
