akthedream: .Do u remember Liverpool humilating Real madrid(5-1 agg.) when Liverpool could not even make top 4? Lame points you made bro! When liverpool beat realmadrid, they had 5 spanish players & a spanish manager, alonso & arbeloa are now @ realmadrid, liverpool are nowhere to be found & you can see both their positions since then. Chelsea's case against Barca was down to their sheer determination & mostly LUCK, not cos they were better, it showed in the UCL final too, wonder why none of their made uefa's best XI? Mancity & spurs against Barca were pre-season (warm-up) matches. Face it, spain national team & laliga are the best. 1 Like |

odumorun 1: Nigerian football is now a joke. Infact it has been so for almost 7 years now. the last time Nigeria put out a decent team, that actually played football was probably 2004. I have never had so much Rubbish in my life, Name the amount of Nigerians playing in the national team that is playing in the English premier league? Spain won Euro 2012 with Torres, Mata, Silva and Reina in the squad Spain won the world cup with Torres, Cesc, Alonso and Reina in the squad France won EURO 2000 with Henry, Petit, Vieira, Pires, Desailly and Lebourf playing in the PL Egypt won 2 or 3 ANC with playrts from their own league..... 2 Likes |

GOZILLA: no I won't. So you get my point? It shouldn't bother barca & madrid that the rest teams in spain don't have their quality, they should improve themselves (Ath. madrid & Malaga are already doing that). Arsenal used to be the pride of London but their inability to keep up has seen Chelsea overtake them. 1 Like |

akthedream: .Do u remember Liverpool humilating Real madrid(5-1 agg.) when Liverpool could not even make top 4? Apart from your list here, you can see that you can't pick an average team in the EPL embarrassing a La Liga top side. Let us be factual here. At the moment the possessive project of the La Liga and Bundesliga is producing results. I am not saying the direct football strategy can't bring results but the possessive pattern is far superior. Can't you see the way Spain is dominating Europe and the World. Their players(La Liga) are making the EPL look better (Aguero, Silva, Mata, Carzola, Michu etc). The way Guardiola won 6 trophies in one year is unimaginable. So Platini was the one that made Barcelona beat Man Utd in two Champions League final. Let us be fair with our point. |

Lero15: Arsenal, Tottenham and Swansea play gud futbol and they r all in England Arsenal don't play good football anymore, Tottenham has always been good, & Swansea have spanish influence (4 spanish players & a manager who has played for Barca & R. Madrid) |

Re: Nigeria V Burkina Fasso - The Premier League Has Destroyed Our Football by thegoodjoehunt(m): 12:59pm On Jan 23, 2013 |
baby-boy: The dominance of Spain and La Liga has everything to do with the pattern of play they have nurtured for years. I remember falling in love with the possessive passing game when Nigeria beat Spain at France '98. Even though they lost the match and crashed out of the group stage, I always new that approach will be unparalleled by any style. It has taken years to nurture the art. Go and watch the game were Overmars scored against Liverpool. The dominance have not started but you can see the brilliance of the art. That is why Spain and La Liga is dominating now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C--gtzvDUk Pique said one day all clubs will play like Barca. That is how the other teams will catch up. That is why Bayern is signing Guardiola. |

never_say_never: then it begs the question - why is a shyte league with poor quality of football more popular than the tiki taka league with top quality football? are you saying football fans all over the world are dumb and foolish? thegoodjoehunt: i cannot count the number of times arsenal mopped the floor with villareal or liverpool beating barcelona(even at nou camp). arsenal eliminated real madrid in 2006. arsenal and liverpool are average sides in the premier league - when was the last time they won the english league, huh?
their players are not making the league look better - van persie, suarez, etc are making the english league look better. no spaniard has won the golden boot in the premier league or even come close to winning the pfa player award. let's tread carefully when we hype the spanish players - they play intricate football that suits their league - that style of play would not necessarily work in england and this is why barcelona always find it difficult to beat chelsea......: |

thegoodjoehunt: thegoodjoehunt: Barcelona or Spain are playing like Ajax of the 70’s, it was a formation Johan Cruyff introduce to Barcelona when he quit Ajax, now they are benefitting from what he introduced in the early 90s, Spain on the other have only adopted that policy, they went with the Madrid style of playing that’s relying on extremely skilful players which got Spain nowhere, the game you were talking at Anfield were they passed the ball for more than 3 minutes and scored, please tell me how many Dutch players were in that team? All am saying is that the Tiki Taka of spain would soon fade away. Just like Catanaccio, or the Samba or the aggressive and direct German football. |

Afam4eva: stop arguing like a football illiterate...., the premier league rakes in more money from overseas than any other league in the world. la liga is trying to model their tv broadcast like the premier league - this is why some la liga matches now show in the afternoon so that asian fans can tune in. la liga is miles below the premier league in terms of global viewership unless you have been living under a rock. by the time el classico is on 9pm(UK time), the asians are fast asleep!!!! |

So that pass to Overmars was done by Xavi. Genius doesn't hide. @baby-boy. True football art doesn't fall. That is why Brazil continued dominating for years. What killed Brazil was them changing their style of play. Same thing happened to the Dutch team. You can see in the World Cup final when Spain played Netherland. Netherland had a defensive approach. That is why Brazil is bringing back Scolari to coach them. They now know the best solution from them is the true passwork plus skillful Samba players. If you check clips of old, Brazil played close to what we have as Tiki Taka. Same with Argentina. Long Passwork goals have lasted for too long for you to think it will just end soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKvFVssa7DU |

Re: Nigeria V Burkina Fasso - The Premier League Has Destroyed Our Football by coogar: 1:27pm On Jan 23, 2013 |
Afam4eva: so what makes a league quality across the board? please list the criteria and why you think la liga is better than the premier league? baby-boy: barcelona and real madrid have killed la liga. they should never have allowed them to independently broadcast their own games. it has created a wide gulf between those 2 giants and the rest of the clubs in the league. this is why those 2 teams continue to dominate and the rest are feeding on crumbs! you know la liga is a shyte league when blackpool(relegated team in england) made more money from tv than the 3rd best team in la liga. this is why i tell la liga fans that if barcelona/real madrid come to the premier league, they would not win the league as they would not have the advantage of selling their games on tv independently. less money means they wouldn't be able to afford the wages of messi, villa, sanchez, etc. |
Re: Nigeria V Burkina Fasso - The Premier League Has Destroyed Our Football by Afam4eva(m): 1:31pm On Jan 23, 2013 |
coogar:The quality of a league is determined on factors which range from how the players, clubs and coaches are doing when compared to those in other leagues. Judging from these criterion, it's obvious that the La Liga is miles ahead of the premiership. The best players are there. The best clubs are there. The best coaches are there. Did you see the FIFA 11 that was released recently? That paints the picture. 1 Like |

Afam4eva: you should really stop frequenting this section cos you are embarrassing yourself with these lame points. did you not see the graphical image i posted above? of course, the 2 big clubs have the best players because they have been given a free rein by the spanish football federation to sell their games independently. in england, the money the big teams make is distributed fairly to help the small teams grow. fifa 11 is nonsense - most of the players on that list were missing from the champions league final in munich.....fifa 11 my foot! la liga is a 2-team league and 2 clubs don't make a league - you have to look at the quality of the 20 teams across the board. why is it that no other team apart from barcelona and real madrid have won the champions league in spain? england can boast of man utd, liverpool, chelsea, aston villa and nottingham forest as winners. if united have the same freedom as barcelona to sell their games independently, they would be able to afford better players and compete. united have more fans than barcelona and madrid put together so your comments about having the best players are very lame! baby-boy: the marketing strategy in england is top drawer the premier league has struck several deals with airlines and eurostar to show live epl games on board in airplanes. the deal is super-massive. relegated teams in the epl would make more money than the winners of champions league - now, that's wow!!! |
Re: Nigeria V Burkina Fasso - The Premier League Has Destroyed Our Football by babyboy3(m): 1:48pm On Jan 23, 2013 |
coogar: Marketing strategy hmmmmm may be, but its more like global firms see the premiership and a great product to advertise their products world wide.... Apart from El Classico no one cares at about any other match... but in the EPL its a different ball game |
Re: Nigeria V Burkina Fasso - The Premier League Has Destroyed Our Football by coogar: 2:03pm On Jan 23, 2013 |
baby-boy: because real madrid/barcelona have strangled the rest of the teams to death with their greed! how can they be making £140m and 6 other teams in the league are making a miserable £12m. it's so unfair. it then means barcelona/madrid get all the quality players in spain while the others are left with crap. if man city and man utd have all the best players in england, would any team stand a chance in europe? i don't think so......... this is what the other countries would pay the premier league to watch live games from next season. money too much - as poor as africa is, they managed to cough £205m out of them. na wa!!! |
Re: Nigeria V Burkina Fasso - The Premier League Has Destroyed Our Football by Afam4eva(m): 2:06pm On Jan 23, 2013 |
coogar:So, how come these teams in spain that have been left with crumbs keep beating their premiership counterparts. Dude, we're not talking about money here but about quality. The quality that's in Athletico madrid is comparable if not better than those in the top 4 clubs in England. A player from Athletico made the FIFA 11 but no premiership player made the list. What does that tell you? 1 Like |

coogar: Tell me why the English national team has been unable to do well @ major since they won the world cup decades ago? If you claim no spaniard won or have come close to winning the golden boot, check Torres' first season with Liverpool. Valencia has been in the UCL final, so you can't blame them for not winning it, & check the number of foreigners that were in the squad of any English club that wins the UCL & compare it to when a Spanish team wins it. EPL's popular no doubt, business & sponsorship deals does a whole lot. Is it a coincedence that Chelsea won their 1st UCL when they added a bit of Spanish flair to their game (Mata & Torres), or why do you think Swansea is getting applauds for their style of play? 1 Like |

GOZILLA: make una no worry. This is spain's time to shine. We will see where they will be in the next six years. My broda, if spanish league is the best, why is their national team made up of more than half of barca and R.madrid players? If a league can only boast of two strong teams, what does that tell you about the league? You are talking through your hat. Two strong teams ? Athletico Madrid were not even amongst the top 4 in Spain last year and they crushed the so-called Champions of Europe - Chelsea 4-0 in the super cup. Did you watch that match - it was not men against boys - more like men against training cones. Then take the Europa Cup - a tournament which because it involves the lesser teams in each countries league, showcases much more than the wealthy champions league - the real depth of local talent. For the last 10 years or so that tournament has been owned by Spanish clubs, Seville, valencia and Athletico. Saying that because Real and Barca dominate the spanish league, the others behind them are no good is like saying A person who comes third in the Olympics 100m race will come behind the first 2 in the Oshogbo South 100m race. Or because you are the 3rd best engineer in the one of the top enginnering companies in the world, like Haliburton, you will be behind the top 2 engineers in Burundi Electric power authority - Illogical 1 Like |

Where were you then when the same Bilbao destroyed Man U in the Europa league last season. They owned them over 2 legs without even paying a dowry. They took them to bed morning, afternoon and night and woke them up in the wee hours for saare. The only thing English clubs have is publicity - because the country's language is also the global lingua franca, so it's easier for them to sell their products. Most commentary is in english. Not that many people speak German or spanish. That is why the premier league dominates the media 1 Like |

Witty07: You're not very knowledgeable about what you're talking about are you. Ivorien players do play in the EPL, but they did not develop their skills there. Most Ivorien players developed their skills in French academies, the sam that produced the likes of Thuram, Zidane, Henry et all. Academies that emphasised the values of possession, flair and imagination which made France such a force in world football some years back. As for Ghana, many of their players have not headed to the premier league in the same numbers as Nigerian players. But even then the premiership disease is begining to affect them too. With all their talent they have not won the African nations cup in almost 2 decades. As for Zambia most of the team that won them the nations cup last year were local players 1 Like |

America are rich because it is their turn, somebody passed his exam because it is their turn, Brazil has regular electruicty because it is their turn. With such indolent thinking no wonder we are behind in all facets of human development. Don't do anything just wait for your turn. Afam4eva: tell us which teams in spain with crumbs who have won the champions league or their league title? are you shyting me? chelsea that finished 6th last season in the premier league beat barcelona even with a man down and later went on to win the champions league. stop citing isolated cases here cos we all know upsets do happen in football. we are looking at it from a huge sample size. la liga have only produced 2 champions league winners in barcelona/real madrid. the premier league have produced 5 clubs as winners. that tells me the premier league is more competitive and have more quality across the board than the spanish league. you cannot separate money from modern football. without money, barcelona would not be able to afford the wages of messi, xavi, iniesta, villa and sanchez. they would have left la liga to somewhere else where their talents would be duly rewarded with huge funds. never_say_never: the english national team have their own internal problems...... it has nothing to do with the quality of their league. how many french players in the national team play in france? how many brazilian players in their national team play in brazil? what about portugal? abeg, all those parameters mean shyte. players would always be attracted to the leagues where they would be rewarded measurably with their talents. the reason there's top quality players in real madrid and barcelona is because of the tv revenue they get. £140m in comparison to £50m-£70m that the top clubs in premier league get! torres was the 3rd highest goal scorer in his debut season in england. he was beaten to it by ronaldo and adebayor. la liga imports have never done anything fantastic in this league. premier league exports have destroyed la liga times without number. forlan, ruud, ronaldo have all clinched the pichichi in spain. the man utd team that won the champions league in 07/08 had these english players in the starting line up. wes brown, rio ferdinand, owen hargreaves, paul scholes, michael carrick and wayne rooney. that's 6 players out of 11. that is not enough?? |
