Before I could give him a reply, Fabianus let out a chuckle and said;

'Van, you are funny. You are not David and Gustavus is certainly not Golaiath. He is way stronger and more powerful.'

Honestly, I don't know why my mouth always fall open when I'm surprised. Yes that's exactly what happened as my mouth just fall open like gate wey no get gateman.

'You are surprised, eh? You shouldn't be my friend,' Fabianus remarked 'Remember I told you I have the Sage's power. I read minds too.'

'Ok. Where exactly is Gustavus now?' I asked weakly, trying my best to mask my confusion, surprise and fear.

'Errm... He is in the Distein forest,' Fabianus replied 'Let me show you a picture of him,' he added as he rose from his seat and walked to a shelf stuffed with books to get the picture.

He came back and handed me a small book with the picture of a beast-like giant (or is it a giant-like beast) bowing to a short, stocky man dressed in red and black on it.

'Who is this man?' I asked, pointing to the short man in the picture.

'You mean you don't know him?' Fabianus asked, looking very surprised 'Haven't you read the scroll the Sage gave you?'

'No, I haven't. I can't read Latin,' I replied.

'Ok. I'll give the english version of the scroll,' Fabianus said 'Back to that man in the picture. Well, his name is Justus.'

... Walahi! I don tire for all these 'us' wey dey end these people names o...

'He is a very powerful sorcerer and he is our biggest enemy,' Fabianus continued 'Right now, I think he is in Distein too, building up his immortal army.'

'Immortal whaaaat?'

'Immortal army, yes. He's planning to destroy Casvillé with it. That is why we need your help but we must first retrieve the black sword of the gods because without it you have no power at all.'

'Where is the black sword now?' I asked.

'The sword is in Carzëf, we will go there maybe next week to get the sword back because we must make sure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands,' Fabianus answered.

He stood up, signalling the end of our little meeting. I stood up too and we shook hands.

'Here is the english version of that scroll with you. It contains all the information you will need,' Fabianus said, as he gave me the new scroll.

'Thanks,' I muttered and started to make my way towards the door.

'Wait Van,' Fabianus called 'Here is something else you will be needing.'

I collected the thing, it was a book; Sun Tzu's The Art of War.

I returned to my room to find the King, the Queen, the Knights and the Noblemen there.

... Kai! Wetin be dis? Another bad news ko?...

'O Athanasius. We hath waited long for thee. The company art ready. Let us go,' the King said.

... Which kain greeting be dis na?...

'Where are we going?' I asked.

'To Austieres. A jousting tournament wilt be held thiter in thy honour,' the King replied.

... Jousting tournament? Wtf does that mean?...

EPISODE 9
Our ride from Casville to Austieres was smooth and fast, all thanks to the fleet-footed horses that pulled the carriages with blinding speed.

I had enjoyed the ride mainly because I had shared a carriage with the stunning princess Enezina and we had talked about lots of things which I can't remember as I write this. Oddly enough, she sounded intelligent, not like that blockhead Elvira.

When we got Austieres, the King told some of the earls to go put finishing touches to the preparation for the tournament.

The remainder of the party went to the King's palace in the heart of the city to rest there before the tournament began.

When I got to the room allotted to me, I quickly sat on the bed and busied myself reading the new scroll Fabianus had given me.

... Chei! See handwriting ooo...

The calligraphy of the author was so poor that I couldn't stop squinting and sweating as I read through the pages of the scroll.

'Wo, I will look for someone to read it to me later jawe,' I said to myself as I dropped the scroll.

I was just about closing my eyes to catch some sleep when two servants walked in to tell me that the tournament had begun.

I stood from the bed and followed them to the amphitheater where the jousting (abi na jonzing ) would take place

'People of casville,' the King began 'we art gathered hither to watch this tournament organized in the honour of the saviour sent to us by the gods, the most excellent Athanasius.'

At the mention of my name, the crowd went wild with shouts and chants. I stood from my seat and waved to the adoring crowd.'

...Dear God, forgive me...

'The Winner of this tournament will have the singular honour of kissing Athanasius's feet. Let the tournament begin,' the King pronounced to the battle ready knights.

The tournament began!!! the knights, all of them dressed in armour and armed with shields, swords and lances (a kind of short spear) broke their ranks and started to strike hard blows on each other.

I did not know whether to laugh or cry. These are just bunches of idi0ts fighting themselves to death over the right to kiss my damned feet. there is nothing interesting in this jor.

'Are these knights bloodless,' I asked my neighbour, when I noticed that most of them being struck by swords were falling without any sign of blood. Na Nollywood movie we dey watch?

'The armours art verily strong and the swords art blunt,' my paunchy, plump cheeked neighbour replied.

At last the show of shame ended with a knight named Proctor emerging as the winner.

As I stood up to return to my room, someone tapped me from behind and I spun round to see the smiling, youthful face of Fabianus.

'Athanasius, how far na? Did you enjoy the tournament?' he asked.

'Errm... Yes,' I lied in reply.

He smiled, a knowing smile. He knew that I did not enjoy the tournament.

`OK. I have brought these men for you,' he said, as seven muscular, tough looking men came to my view.`Their names are Dammexus, Stefanus, Brokotus, Anonimus, Neduzzus, Mutainus...'

' Wait o, what will do with them?' I cut in.

'They are the Knights of the realm. They will be helping you in your quest against Justus and his cohorts,' He explained.

... My helpers eh? This is the only good thing I've heard since I came here o...

Later in the evening, I laid silently on my bed as I fed my eyes with impudish delight on the scantily dressed girls in Stan's porn magazine.

As I flipped through the pages of the magazine, I saw different shapes and sizes of girls, until I came to a page that was completely blank.

... What is this again o? There was something on this page before na...

The hottest girl in the mag was the page on that page before. I remembered because I had dog-eared the page before.

I was still trying to think of what could have wiped the picture of the girl off the page, when a face suddenly appeared on the erstwhile blankpage. It wasn't the model's face, It was Fabianus' face.

'Van, come to my room now, something has happened,' Fabianus said.

'Eh? Wha... What did you say?'

He smiled, his same knowing smile.

'Just come quickly. I know you are surprised, Don't worry, I'll explain to you when you get here.'

After saying that, his face disappeared from the page, while that of the girl returned.

I quickly stood from the bed and started running to Fabianus' room.

... Kai! My eyes don see for dis Casville o(abi na Jazville ni)...

I got to Fabianus' room to see him staring at a piece of white cloth hung in the corner of the room.

'Van, come and see,' Fabianus said when he saw me.

I moved closer and I saw clearly what he was watching; Five fully armed men walking through a dense forest.

'What is urgent about this film you are watching? Didn't you...'

'Relax jor. Who told you that this is a film?' he asked 'Do you see that bald man leading them? His name is Phoebus, he is Justus' brother.'

'Shey Justus the sorcerer?' I asked, although I knew the answer to my question already.

'Yes, and these men are going to Carzëf to steal the black sword of the gods. You know what that means, don't you?'

'Not exactly,' I replied.

'Justus knows that you have no power at all without that sword, that is why he sent these men to get it. If we don't act fast and they suceed in getting it, that means we're doomed. There is no way you can save us without that sword,' he explained.

'Ok. What do we do now?' I asked.

'We must ride to Carzëf immediately, those guys must not get there before we do. The Knights are already waiting for us, let's go.' He said and we dashed out of his room with blinding speed.

We (the Knights, Fabianus and I) rode out of Austieres with high speed towards Carzëf.

'Why don't you tell me more about that Justus? It seems there are lots of important things I need to know about him,' I said to Fabianus, as we rode past the steep mountain that served as the boundary between Austieres and Carzëf.

'That shows you still haven't read the scroll I gave you,' Fabianus reasoned.

'Errm... You are right, I've been too busy to read it,' I lied.

He smiled softly. 'Busy with what? Porn ba?' he chided me.

Before I could string words together to reply him, the carriages and the chariots we rode stopped.

'This is Cersvin Temple,' Fabianus said to me, as he pointed to the large, imposing building in front of us. 'The sword of the gods has been kept here for thousands of years. Let's go in.'

We all rushed inside to see five dead bodies and a lot of blood of the floor. The bodies belonged to the men I had seen in the white cloth in Fabianus' room.

'Go and check if the sword is still in the sacred box,' Fabianus said to Damexus, one of the Knights.

We all waited with bated breath as Damexus did his check. He came back to us with a sad look on his face.

'It's gone sir,' he informed Fabianus.

... Yawa don gas finally...

'Who the hell killed these men?' Stefanus asked rhetorically.

'I think we should be more concerned about who took the sword,' Brokotus countered.

'I did,' A thunderous voice above us said.
