2. "we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven" - when we get our new bodies at the appearing of Jesus.


Paul went on to explain what he meant in v2 to v4.

"Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life." - 2 Corinthians 5:2-4

The bolded and underlined comment very nicely summarizes Paul's point , which is that " the mortal may be swallowed up by life".

On the other hand, a very sensual paradise is repeatedly promised to all faithful male Muslims, with dozens of "dark-eyed" nymphs available to serve them (little is said about rewards for faithful women).

Christians and Muslims have some beliefs in common, of course, but the overriding consideration in comparing them must always be the fact that Christ alone has defeated death and can save all who come to Him in faith, promising eternal life in a real heaven with no more tears and no more pain (Revelation 21:4). We should desist from the habit of reading the Bible like a novel, newspaper or philosophy but should seek God's revelation on every verse. Genesis 1:27 is very clear and so is Genesis 2. In 1:27 God "CREATED"[make from nothing] and this man was in the image of God. Bible readers know that God is a spirit. Thus, this man was a spirit-man with both masculine and feminine spiritual nature just like God [think, El Shaddai]. Hence this man 'he-them' could not till the earth. Another interesting observation is this man, 'He-them' could not sin or fail 'cause he was the very image of God. In Genesis 2:7 God 'FORMS' Adam [not create] from the dust and breathed the He-them of Genesis 1:27 into him thus began the war within us. That's why God could not form Eve from the earth but had to take her from Adam. Now, the formed man doesn't have the nature[image] of God thus his inclination toward sin. The African, Chinese, European man etc is not the image of God. How can he be with all his evil, hate, bitterness, carnality, lust etc…

Little and insignificant objects are not easily perceived and noticed, yet they have been found to always play significant and major roles in our lives. The tongue is a little but hidden member of the body, yet people's life course are either changed or destroyed by it

The power of the tongue and the great influence it wields is clearly spelt out in the passage. Apostle James cautioned against censorious use of the tongue, and that believers must not make their sentiments a standard to judge others. Wrong use of the tongue has destroyed individuals, families and nations in several ages. There is such and abundance of sins in the tongue, that the Scripture described it as the world of iniquity. Its misuse has the capacity to defile the whole body.

Just like a thermometer is placed under the tongue to determine the health of a person, the issues of the tongue are better indices of the spiritual state of any individual. A man is not truly known by his physical outlook but by his character and conversation. If the tongue is converted and purified through genuine new birth experience, the tongue will be a fountain of living water, bringing out edifying words. An unruly, uncontrolled and unguarded tongue will defile the whole body.

It is however significant to note that great consequences follow the misuse of the tongue. Wars have been sparked off by a misuse of the tongue. Those who were once fruitful and successful could become useless at home, unprofitable in service, ineffective in ministry, paralysed in faith and unfit for the Kingdom of God because of the improper use of their tongues. Your conversation and the use of your tongue will indicate whether you are a saint or a sinner.
