And they'll always hold their own against any team. wink

It's funny how people are already downgrading Spain because they lost a tournament that had only 7 opposing teams. . .grin grin

Spanish players were tired and exhausted from Thursday's 122 minute match and looked like they just wanted to get into the plane and go home, they didn't value this tournament after playing a long and never ending semifinal match for a trophy that no team other than brazil have won, lol. grin grin

The tournament didn't even have a quarterfinals match and had just 3 strong teams, the competition, honor and class was so mediocre that even Tahiti qualified. grin grin

It looks like people are forgetting that no team have gone on to win the world cup after winning the confederations cup.

That simply says that this is a yogurt tournament and brazil have always won bread trophies and are nowhere to be found in huge tournaments.

The 2014 World Cup will prove that brazil's performance tonight was just a fluke. tongue

I grew up supporting Ajax. Heck, I followed Ruud Gullit to Chelsea, hence why I'm now a Chelsea fan.

My all time favourite footballers ever are: Gullit, Kluivert, Van Basten, Sammer, Voller, Matthaus, Edgar Davids, and Bergkamp. wink

Portugal are still favorites. They have a great team(two excellent wingers, good midfielders and a strong defence) and good coach too.
Portugal is like Netherlands jor. Underachievers. Spain used to be that way before Raul retired.

And Brazil.won all their matches at the world cup. Please that Dunga's World Cup selection was a joke and Spain woupd have thrashed them. Remember Scolari is very beatable. Remember his 3-0 thrashing in '06 by Germany.

this present English team is no where near WC favourites.
Even their own analysts on al jazeera sports have counted them out.
The furthest they could go is only reaching the quarter finals.

Shymex is right. England will definitely hold their own against any team. They just need a bit of luck sometimes.
Their current team makeup isn't bad either.

My grandmother would've finished better than Spain today. It's very tough to beat Brazil at home. However, what shall it profit a nation to win the last 3 confederations cups and loose the following world cup?

*I'll answer that: 3 confederations cups...

I still have my money on Germany for 2014. Even Brazil won't be able to beat them in Brazil.

The 3 lions ko the 3 rabbits ni. is England still a team? Dude, forget the hate i have for anything England. England has never been a force to be reckoned. They'll probably make to the round of 16 and if they're lucky they will be stopped in the quarters. England is very far away from being the favorites for any competition.

And pls don't underestimate the Portugese. They always go far in every competition they go for. In South Africa 2010, Spain were lucky to beat them by penalties in the quarters.

Three lions know how to grind out results - and don't write them off.

They can't even win Western European cup(is there's anything like that) not to talk of the Euros and not to talk of the World cup. Show get size abeg. If i were to name my top teams for the world cup, England wouldn't make the top 10. I will even rank the US ahead of them based on their achievements in recent times. England ko Pidginland ni.

England drew 2-2 with this same Brazilian team that whooped Spain at the same venue, Maracana staduim, like a month ago.

And they beat the same team 2-1 at Wembley a few months ago.

Be scared of the pace of Theo Walcott and Chamberlain. wink

Err. . . we are talking about 2 different formations here . And considering the "strength" of our team thats the best formation to play.

I made a mistake. Mou plays a 4-2-3-1. Formation and he was trophyless this season. Not because Scolari won today, it s the ideal formation. Man City played it and lost to Wigan in the FA Cup finals.

Coach Keshi has the formation he wants to ppay and he is building a team that can play it. He is not relying on a squad on ground to play to their strength.

what happened to papa Zidane?
Though choices differ, but I wasn't expecting someone with your knowledge of football to leave out papa Zidane from the list of his favourites.

Germany doesn't travel that well. They always have problems with conditions outside Europe. It is the Dutch I fear.

Spain never had a quality team during Rauls reign.
They did. But then they were trying to use physical stength to outdo their team and they didn't have much of it. That's what gave the emergence of tiki-taka. With tiki-taka, it doesn't matter how small you are. As long as you can pass balls effectively coupled with a good ball control, you're good to go. That's the niche that Spain has carved for themselves. That's why i laugh when people say they should change their style of play.

I'm not calling them favourites. I'm just saying they can hold their own against anyone.

No one gave Germany a chance at the 2002 world cup; they struggled to qualify, and lost 5-1 to England during the qualifiers. A team with no big name - yet they got to the finals.
