Nigerian navy trainee SBS and an SBS instructor.

Officially formed in 2008, although it's roots dates back to amphibious clandestine operation carried out by the Navy in the Nigerian civil war. The SBS is one of Nigeria's premier fighting units.

It's a strictly men only outfit with operators, combat proven unit with excellent records to show. SBS operators have served and continue to serve in the Nigeria's deep south, the North East against Boko Haram, in Niger, Tchad, Cameroon, Mali, and the Ivory Coast.


The unit had only embarked on the training of not just Nigerians, but also our brothers from Ghana and Benin.

It's main base is the SBS camp, Joint Maritime Security Training Center (JMSTC) , Ojo, Navy town, Lagos.

Although, this should have been a better All Terrain Vehicle option for the Navy. A 4 doors Innoson G12 vehicle.

I have come to realize special forces prefer to have 40mm automatic grenade launchers in the mix with various other heavy, medium and light machine guns.

But are they navy commandos 100% sure ?

100% sure they are Navy commandos. The black FAST OPS core helmet is worn primarily by the navy, the rest of the military wear the green coloured type.

This bullet proof vest is also worn mostly by the Navy, the Air Force Regiment wear the DICON type.

The ballistics glasses with the brown tape on top is also worn by the Navy, the rest of the military wear the all black type.

With the 40mm are you talking Special Forces in general or primarily Nigerian?

The US army was also conscript in WWII and Vietnam. Turkey's army represents NATO for sure, you can't deny this. They are the Second largest NATO member.

I have not forgotten. I also agree with the part in bold. However, I find the fact that you're trying to rewrite history as irresponsible.


Anybody reading your comment would think Turkey is new to NATO, whereas Turkey along 13 other countries are the founding members of NATO. Turkey joined the alliance in 1952, that's 64 years ago.


Turkish tactics represent the tactics of NATO, this is an undeniable fact. They are the second largest NATO member and one of the founding fathers.


My WWII correlation was simply to show that the US conscripts just as much as Turkey. You think if the US were to engage in battle with Russia or China, there won't be conscription?

Those helmets look like Mich2000 Kevlar helmets for Special Forces. But yeah, the vest is the give away. Most likely Navy SBS.

It does appear to be some sort of Landing Craft, but i can't confirm what it is though.

It's the OPs Core FAST helmet, the Mich2000 doesn't have that signature "foam like" stuff on it, unlike the Ops core.
