Lagos Island is less than 1 % of the total landmass of Lagos state which was formed by Gowon on May 27, 1967 along with 12 other new states. The Ijaw nationalist from Bonny Island [chief Harold Dappa-Biriye] clearly stated in a 1999 Guardian interview that he along with Ken Saro-Wiwa and other Nigerr Deltans in the Old Eastern Region induced Gowon to excise them from the Old Eastern Region to have a separate government from the Ibo who they saw a dominating them. Jasper Isaac Adaka Boro had led a rebellion in 1966 because of the same grouse as well but he was imprisoned for that by Ironsi's regime. 2 days later Ojukwu declared secession because of that leading to the start of the Nigerian Civil war in July 1967 after forcefully dragging the non-ibo lands of the old Eastern Region into the illegally formed biafra map. Lagos state receives federal allocation from oil and gas money just all other states in Nigeria, so why all this shallow and crap talk about Lagos being developed with oil money as if your state did not get any? Lagos State has Ijebus, Aworis, Ogus and Egba as the original indigenes if you must know and they deserve to have peace of mind just like all the indigenes of other states in Nigeria. 1] Ijebu-Yorubas are the owners and indigenes of Lekki/Ajah/Epe/Ikorodu LGAs 2] Awori-Yorubas occupy other LGAs and, 3] Aworis and Ogu [Egun]share Badagry LGA. 4] Egbas are located in Abule-Egba and Abule-taylor as indigenes. Lagos state had even degenerated infrastructure-wise over the years - and it took the civilian administrations starting from 1999 to start the urban renewal using internally generated revenue and some loans which are being paid back as and when due by the Lagos Government. Ondo produces more Crude oil and generates 3 times more income than all the oils returns combined from Imo and Abia State [You can find the details from the Federal monthly allocation]. The Itsekiri or Ugborodo [Escravos] indigenes of Delta State are of direct Yoruba ancestry with links to the Yoruba Ilaje oil-rich communities of Ondo State so you cannot say Yorubas have not contributed oil resources to develop Nigeria. Ignorantly some people do not know that Itsekiris are Delta Yoruba with some Bini inluences in the monarchy which came about over 600 years ago when Itsekiris of Ijebu origin especially from Omadina and Ode-Itsekiri[who were in the majority] accepted Prince Ginuwa a son of the Oba of Benin to become a king. Ginuwas mother was from Ife-Yoruba ancestry and was one of the wives of the then Oba when Prince Ginuwa had to resettle outside Benin with about 70 of his trusted men who married some Itsekiri-Yoruba women from Ode-Itsekiri axis hence the similarity between Itsekiri language and especially Ijebu-Yoruba dialect. If you investigate, the delectable Nigerian female music diva Omawumi has a Yoruboid name which is a variant of Omowunmi which is common in other parts of Yoruba axis. [Please note that Omawumi's biological mum is from Bonny Island in Rivers State based on an interview she granted to Punch newspaper few years ago]. Enough said!  [/b] 4 Likes |

Too many sentimental people here.. Especially Ibos. Fashola started 'deporting' destitutes way back 2yrs ago.. He has deported to several states in the north, even to Ogun, Osun, Oyo and Kwara and Ondo states. Nobody cried foul!! Except these Ibos! We all know these jobless destitutes are the ones responsible for stealing and robberies n pick-pocketting in lagos. This has absolutely noting to do with Ethnicity... the property was served notices and the due procedures were followed...First Demand notice was served earlier this year which he has the grace of 45 days to pay with discounted amount,After that a Final Reminder notice was served with the grace period of 30 days,A notice Of Default was pasted at this particular Kalu's residence and a notice to seal all of this was ignored not until the property was sealed Last 2 weeks..I don't know why his aid came up with this issue after 2 good weeks that the property was sealed.
