The market is a service market for many other markets in southwest, southsouth, Kogi, Benue, Ondo, Abuja and even some markets in Lagos.
I am going to give you an example, you see the lesther/footwear material market in Mushin Lagos? Major of their goods from Aba, while the Nigeria-made leather come from Kano. There are no major importers in those markets.

Aba and onitsha holds the largest gathering of importers in Nigeria, those goods will get to their warehouse in Onitsha and Aba then other markets in the country will have to go to Aba or onitsha to get them. It's why onitsha is the biggest market in West Africa. Onitsha serves markets as far as Cameroon and Benin Republic.
