Well here in Awka Anambra state, we use Metro digital and pay 3k per month. I watch everything football on Aljazira sports. They show all. Major european league and competitions. In total they have over 40 channels including discovery, Nat geo, cnn, and a lot of movie channels. 08067466955 call him if u are intrested he is d guy that fixed it 4 me. However, I must confess that it has done very well in overall entertainment.
Most people here are pained to find out that folks still pay such amount for Dstv. They think one's entertainment should start and end with football forgetting that most viewers of Dstv are women and children hence why Dstv will keep selling until there's a good competition.
Apart from the easy access to info, in setting, recording, parental restriction, replaying programmes and channels...there's also very informative, educating and indigenous programmes and channels like EL tv (165). The clarity and picture quality cannot be underestimated.
One to put into consideration their annual reality programmes like BBA etc.

And for sports (football) enthusiasts, you will agree with me that soccer goes beyond just watching ballers display. Predictions and analysis from an African view makes a lot oof difference.
Dstv has also given our local leagues a big boost.

So, as much as we are looking forward to a stiff competition, we should come to terms that CTL, Metro, ABG, CMTV etc is not in anyway n alternative to DStv. At least for now!

And to be honest, for the number of channels on Dstv, $100 is just about the same price people pay elsewhere in the world.

All this one is jst story of dstv's life... dstv is crap, borin, if any decoder can win award 4 repeatin program it's dstv.. all na wash..

McLuhan: Sincerely, I have never been overly enamoured with DSTV. Granted, I love foreign news channels, especially BBC, Sky News, and CNN. I also fancy National Geographic Wild. But I am exasperated by what I see as the exploitation of Nigerian viewers by DSTV's parent company, Multichoice. When I started working, I used to pay a monthly subscription fee of N9,000 for the premium bouquet. I did this every month for some time until I realised that I was cheating myself, since I had neither the time nor the interest to watch the pot-pourri of channels they offered - channels that ranged from the admittedly useful to the plain absurd. I then opted for less expensive bouquets until finally I left them entirely for free-to-air satellite TV providers.

My advice is if one is not using DSTV for commercial purposes and one is not a English-football freak, there is really no reason to dole out such cash every month for pay-TV viewership, except you consider it a status symbol. Get a Strong decoder instead and connect to the Joy TV franchise from Ghana or Dokpesi's DAARSAT. Alternatively, get a dongle and access various content providers free. Just my advice, though.

I quite agree with u on dis one. I don't alll dt mu, besides ihave other distractions, laptops, smartphones. So I opted for mytv and multitv which are both free to air, and guess what? My church has a tv on mytv, its so nice watching my pastor on set. But d little clause der is dt, how can I watch dstv channel or other connection for free, I currently use a strong 4922 decoder.

I'm not sure you despise Dstv as much as I do. However, my post was a direct response to some posters who were comparing blurred cable networks with 1980s programmes like Metro, CTL to Dstv. They also thought every Nigerian subscribes to cable networks just to watch football....even when majority of its consumers are not sport fans.

We all hate MTN in Nigeria, but it doesn't sound right to compare it with starcomms or Multilinks.

Be more objective.
