Nigeria's Aviation Ministry may have decided to go after its official that allegedly leaked the information of the purchase of two armoured vehicles for the minister, Stella Oduah.

This was hinted by Folayele Akinkuotu, The Director General of The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, at a press conference at the ministry's headquarters in Abuja. Mr. Akinkuotu said Nicholas Edwards, a staff of the ministry who allegedly leaked the information to journalists, is now on the run.

He also condemned the leak that exposed the purchase of the two armoured cars for N225million. He said the two vehicles, purchased for N225million, are meant to serve both the Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, and aviation-related foreign dignitaries.

The ministet has come under attacks by Nigerians and civil society organizations with many calling for her sack.

Reports say Mrs Oduah compelled the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, an agency under her supervision, in a presumed case of corruption, conflict of interest, and abuse of office, to procure the cars for her with public funds.

Documents show that the transaction to procure the cars started last June. Things were then sped up with the cars delivered on August 15.

In a letter dated August 13, 2013, J.D Nkemakolam, the former Acting Managing Director of the NCAA, sent a letter to the Managing Director of Coscharis Motors asking the company to deliver two BMW 760 armoured vehicles to the agency based on a pro-forma invoice dated June 25, 2013 at the cost of N127, 575, 000 ($796, 846. 21) each. The total amount of the two black BMW Li HSS vehicles, with chassis numbers WBAH41050DW68032 and WBAHP41010DW68044 respectively, was N255, 150,000, or $1,593,687. 31.

I thought some propagandists said the cars were bought for N225 million each? What is in that report is N225 million for both. What then is the current market value of the vehicles? Atleast if that is known we'll be able to objectively tell whether the cost was inflated or not.

Now more facts have emerged.
https://www.nairaland.com/1483972/bought-n225m-bulletproof-cars-operations

We know for sure that Tinubu dogs will never accept these explanations. But whether they accept it or not, it is now established that the cars were budgeted for and DUE PROCESS was followed. Those are the MOST IMPORTANT fact.

However, Tinubu internet dogs are free to continue in their lamentations and emotional seizures, like they've always done from day ONE.

Mayb because Tinubu dogs are so used to Tinubu's corrupt practices, they'r always quick at tagging everything corruption, misappropriation, etc. But now that the FACTS are out, they can take back those terms, which we all know are synonymous with their master, Tinubu. When ever the word corruption is mentioned, the first name that comes to mind is Tinubu. He is the greatest corrupt politician of ALL TIME.

Back to the issue at hand, I think the only term that perfectly describes the act of the minister of aviation in authorizing the purchase of those vehicles is the words used by Oby Ezekwesili. She described it as "obscene luxury". Investing that much in 2 vehicles raises in moral questions. And I think ministers should take into account the realities of our time before taking certain decisions so as not to appear insensitive.

Truth is treason in the Empire of Falsehood. This revelation speaks volume of the moral rot in our political sphere. How do we intend to curb mismanagement and graft in the public sector when whistle blowers are often targeted? Why do we have a culture that rewards malfeasance and honor charlatans, but punishes the truth teller? This is a case of manifest impunity and utter disregard for the people, instead of the Ministry to try to convince and justify the outrageous amount(over-pricing) the cars were purchased, the ministry is now on a man hunt.

Do these 'aviation-related foreign dignitaries' get to ride in a $800,000 armoured vehicle in their countries? No! Little wonder Africa is referred to as a Bongo Bongo land!

Nigeria's own Edward Snowden plus Julian Assange rolled into one. You've done the nation a great service Mr Edwards so, however unsettling your current travails are, take solace in the knowledge that history will absolve you.

Why not try to visit an optician if you have reading difficulties? Or is it a case of Dyslexia? SR and all others who followed up on the story all reported that both cars were purchased at an exorbitant price of N225million.

Mr Edwards is the true 'Sincere Nigerian' not 'he' who labors hard to justify malfeasance by orchestrating ethnic solidarity and campaign of witch hunt.

1. was d purchase of those cars budgeted for?
2. was due process followed ?
3. why was d cost inflated to 500% of d original cost?

I sincerely hope dis fola of a guy be booted out for such reckless statement. the ministry is not a secret organization, so y shouldn't people know about d runnings of d ministry.

This man has foolishly lost is job.
What is foolish in a man doing the right thing? His job is a small price to pay for the emergence of the truth. Evil persists because people with living consciences choose to remain silent rather than running the risk of a short term sacrifice as well as being called foolish by people whose consciences reside in the abyss.
