I went to buy sand for a building project in Buguma, rivers state recently on a saturday.
I looked at the exercise book where they wrote daily payments. Only that saturday I counted 2.8 million. Selling simple sand.
Assume profit is only 1million out of that and multiply it by 300 days. And that was a saturday.
Then repeat what you just said.
... How many people work there? And can you figure out the tax they do pay? Stopping supporting whats not right...

2.8 million a day would pay 100 people comfortably monthly. I didnt see up to 10 at the dredging site.
Corporate tax is about 20% after costs on the Gross profit.

Where did you see me supporting the Builders of the Estates? There's obvious poverty mentality showing in replies and that's what I brought out those facts to counter.

And mind you, there is nothing wrong with a Builder pricing his House as he sees fit, he has his reasons and it is his money afterall we are practicing Capitalism, not Socialism

Manchidede: Their are lots of estates in the FCT but these are the most expensive ones. But are they the best?

PEGGY’S POINTE
Peggy’s Pointe located along Aguiyi Ironsi Street, adjacent Maitama General Hospital, has been identified as the most expensive estate in Abuja.
The occupants pay rent in dollars, as the owners of the estate do not accept payments in our local currency. The rent per annum for a three-bedroom flat in the estate is between $70, 000 and $100, 000.

THE ANCESTORS COURT
The Ancestors Court is another estate worth mention. Located in the highbrow Maitama area of the FCT, the street from the gate into the
estate is lined on both sides by golden palm trees and flowers. The environment is serene and very homely. Rent and property sales transactions are also done in foreign currency here. For instance, rent for a three-bedroom flat is US$55, 000 per annum. Residents also pay a service fee of N2million for the facilities and services that give this estate an edge over others in terms of grandeur and luxury.

BANK OF INDUSTRY ESTATE
Bank of Industry Estate is located in Asokoro, another plush area in the FCT. There, accommodation is as high as what is obtainable in Maitama and Wuse 2. A house with closed circuit television (CCTV), generator and other attractive amenities goes for as much as $50, 000 to $65, 000 per annum. The area is mostly occupied by expatriates and high net worth Nigerian professionals.

CROWN COURT ESTATE
Crown Court Estate is situated behind Gilmore Building, off Shehu Musa Yar’adua Expressway, Utako, a little distance from the VIO Office and the Federal Ministry of Environment.
The apartments are valued at N55 million and costs N5 million to rent, while the duplexes are valued at N78 million each.

Eastern Nigeria that everyone ran away from. Niger state, maiduguri, so many parts of the North. Villages in the SW. You people don't seem to know that these places still exist until you spend $1000000 on rents at Abuja.

Dangote and adenuga are billionaires in dollars, 1 billion dollars = 160 billion naira, you're going too far.
Go to alaba market,
Sit near any popular shop.
Hop the whole day and try and calculate what they are making.
Not every lady needs a mans money, that's prostitution, ladies can make their own clean money.
So from your own Business point of view , you are encouraging young ladies to engage in full time prostitution to enable then buy or rent a 65k USD house in Abuja, if not prostitution, how then can you make that money??

Point of correction, the money accrued from selling of sand in those communities, is a community money shared among clans, villages, not an invidualistic money, Go to Ogbakiri in Emohua LGA and ask questions, pls don't say what you are not sure of. There is no biz in Nigeria u can do to get that amount of money to rent those houses unless u are a CABAL, or "u are doing the needful".
Thank you

don't generalise. There are businesses that'll give you that and more. What we should be discussing is if such business people will be willing to pay such amounts on rent.

We should also note that there are people who live year in, year out in transcorp Hilton (resident guest) and they spend more than those amounts paying for a room yearly.

80% of the "Rich People" and "Rich Friends" I know started with nothing, ZERO.

If you want to make it in Nigeria you would, when you stop complaining about the "conditions" you would realise every single Bad thing in this country is a problem waiting for someone to solve it and get paid for it (money in the Bank). Pick a problem and figure out how to solve it today, your assignment, your Business Idea.

I've never written a cv so I dont know about the application side, but I started my first business with less than 10k, ive never used the degree I got from school. I grew it into something very big, used funds from it any re invested in other things. You dont need a Big Idea or Big capital. Forget Bank loans, they would never give you one when you have no track record. If its your money you wont give it like that either.

Learn a valuable skill you can demand money for, become good at it, package yourself, business name etc, get clients, when you get enough clients, hire somebody to do the dirty work and focus on getting clients or vice versa, whatever you do make sure you are always marketing never fall into the trap of "I am a cab driver so I must drive cabs to survive", learn to delegate and give other people work to do so you can scale up,

Draft an exit or expansion plan once the first business is making enough money you start finding yourself idle because your staff are doing everything.

Think of a Bigger idea and invest in it with savings from the first.

In 10 years see what would happen.

Just make sure you make selling and keeping your clients happy a priority

1. Recruitment Company placing temporary staff in companies - Print Fliers in school, tell students they can work part time and gain experience with your company which can be used in the real world, students apply and are placed in your database. Suit up, go to companies and tell the, you can provide temporary staff to do clerical duties and the like, no need for the companies to pay full time staff,
If a company needs a temp worker they pay you, you provide the student, you are paid a percentge of what the worker gets,
You just took advantage of long ASUU strikes and you a hardworking student can gain experience working with your company which they can use on their cv.

I just thought of that in the past 10 minutes, might be a fish brained idea so nobody should crucify me but its also a way of illustrating the benefits of looking at problems from a half full rather than half empty perspectiive
