If there is any serious environmental degradation anywhere in the old southeastern region, before you say Ojukwu, Wiwa or Boro, other parts of the old region must bear the effects, one way or the other. Those are the issues and not if Saro Wiwa was a saint or not. The question should be: The 'cause' he was fighting for, was it for real? Of course it was. The devastation in their land is for real people. The fact that Saro Wiwa didn't join Ojukwu should not make us hate him. He may have had his reasons. It is not for us to judge him. By the way, who said the same devastation wouldn't happen under Biafra?
