bro, the answer is 5100

"take" is different from "take away" in english language
besides, i ve never heard that "take" means "take away" in maths. Please another person should confirm this with a prove.

Take 1000 and add 40 to it. could also be translated to "take 1000 oranges and add another 40 oranges to it."

I stand to be corrected.

thanks
correct. Simple english, simple maths

D ans is 3100. Explanation: d intial numb was then 1000 and then add 1000 it becm 2000 take away 1000 = 1000+1000+40+30+20+1000+10=3100.

Integers are supersets of real numbers. Integers span from -infinity to +infinity while real numbers are from 0 to +infinity.
I concur to every other thing you said.

Na wa ooo. I cant beliv dis...and u call urself a computer scientist?u should be arrested for this mathematical blunder. integers are subsets of real nos. There are +ve and -ve integers. Only natural nos(+ve integers) starts from zero to infinity.Besides who taught u dat u cant add integers and real nos. Infact only some prog languages require parsing before u can operate nos of different types.

The right answer is 4100
If you look all through the statements of adding 1000, e.t.c
add was specifically stated but got to another and they only said and another......dont go assuming to add that
Re: Maths Riddle by tayooluwole: 12:27pm On Dec 19, 2013
Well, if 'take' does not mean 'takeaway'....d answer should be 5100....

maballack: The right answer is 4100

The word another in a sense means to carry out a previous action or to follow a previous trend.

so if you see another 1000, it means add another 1000 since addition is what has been taking place previously.
Re: Maths Riddle by maballack(m): 12:32pm On Dec 19, 2013
Look back again to all the lines even when another was used again....there was ADD preceding it

I would have agreed with you if the another carried the same value as the prvious then you shld repeat the same action

bt since it was a dffrnt value ...there should be an ADD to the clause
