I don't know why people are surprised that Christmas is called similarly in different languages when Christmas in itself is imported and has no roots in any African culture. So, since there were no particular words in these languages that could appropriately mean "Christmas", it's just pronounced with the intonation of whichever language. It's just as Jesus is "jesu" or "yesu" in a lot of languages.

'Ekeresimesi' is Igbo izugbe. 'Krisimasi' is what i have always heard and thats what we call it here in nnewi.
