Okenze Osuigwe:
Considering the type of experience we had with Awolowo, and for us to start any one then with a Yoruba man, we would be killed before he finished his tenure. What Awolowo did to us! I was in Enugu when he was released from prison and brought to Enugu.

He was imprisoned for treasonable felony, but Ojukwu released him. He got to Enugu, and in my presence while he was addressing the people, he said that once he got to Ibadan he was going to declare the Oduduwa Republic.

Does that mean Ojukwu's alleged release of the old sage was predicated on the latter sending his own people on a

suicide run? Wonder what ojukwu would have done had Awo refused to do as ojukwu wanted before he released him? It's interesting to note

that all those accused of treason including the jan '66 coupists were all jailed in the old eastern region only to be "released" by ojukwu to

further the ibos' nefarious agenda.

Ibos are fvckin' smart........................by halves.

They opposition and there way of media propaganda, they see gej and the igbo fraternizing as a big treat to 2015 ambition and are ready to do anything to instigate divide but is realy not working.
Btw itz good to see a two party system where they give each other a run for there game, thus fuels a true democracy.

During one of MKO campaigns he incurred the wrath of Arthur Nzeribe and many Igbos alike when he (MKO) told d former that he can do without the votes of Ndigbo .
So retrospectively I am not surprise with what the elder said.

This thread does not do justice to Osuigwe's interview by focusing on
the its most devisive element.

Frankly, given the treachery and grand betrayal which Awolowo unleashed
on the Igbos, after they orchestrated Awolowo's release, escorted him
safely out of the area, a contrary reaction by the Igbo people would
have shown that they were not humans but heavenly beings.

To be quite honest with you, I can't blame the Igbos. Awolowo is also
known to be the brainchild of the starvation policy which significantly
contributed to the deaths of thousands of women and children during the
civil war.

With friends like Awo, who needs enemies?[/quote]

ojukwu released Awolowo, who released Dr. Michael Okpara?

Arh, don't you know? It's genetic!

Integrity is an alien concept in that part of the geographical space dubbed "Nigeria".

If you know the role played by Arthur Nzeribe with his Better Nigeria group, you won't doubt this.

@ OP,

Where did you see the word " beg" or " begged "?

It's either you're English Comprehension is poor, or you're trying to promote falsehood.

Please kindly edit your topic or delete it.

What summarized the write- up is that IBB took "decision", as he clearly stated.

Which ojukwu released Awo?

Another of their many lies.

The eye old man sucks. They lobbied IBB to cancel the election and OBj, the albatross of the y1bosruled them for 8years.that is Yoruba sense.

He thought we will allow north to just annul our election. They can ever try it with us again.

It is by far easier for an Ashanti man to become the President of Nigeria, than for a y1bo man to smell the seat.

If the OP wants to be faithful to himself and fair to others, the best topic for the write- up he referenced should be:

How Awolowo betrayed Igbos

Or

After Awolowo, are Yorubas still betrayers?

But why did yorobass spread the lies that Ojukwu did not release awoh from jail where he was convicted and sentenced for treason..?If not for Ojukwu the ofemmmanu leader would have rot in jail..

It is now clear that the destiny of yorobass lies in the hands of the wise men from the East- the Igbos..

GEJ knew this, no wonder he has courted the Igbos before anyone else does. GEJ said that Igbos are the pillar of his administration..

Yorubas in the house should not get carried away by anti-Igbo sentiments. The decision to annul June 12 election was ultimately taken by Ibrahim Babangida. IBB should be blamed and not Eebos in this case. Please don't fall for that old divide and rule nonsense.

@OP- I'm very sorry for you that NL had to be the forum you chose to learn about your fatherland.

Your topic is the most hollow, intellectually desolate thing I have ever seen and that people (even the ones who live in nigeria) are shallow enough to jump on your bandwagon shows that nigerians are getting more and more daft. I cry for the future of this country

If a group of igbo hungry politicians in addition to the ones from other parts of the country (yorubaland inclusive) got into bed with IBB and showed "support" for the annulment of June 12, then what about the egba man ernest shonekan, a close kinsman of mko abiola who accepted the interim president joke of an office. What about the nadeco men who conceded to the interim govt joke in the first place.

I almost laughed my arse off when I read that this your topic is supposed to be some kind of response to my description of the contribution of some igbos to the June 12 struggle in another thread. Pathetic camel dung at best

Shymmexx once again accept my sincere condolences for your miseducation. cry

That igbos (the majority) are averse to Yoruba people has never been a secret, we've always been honest and upfront about it so learning that the igbos were opposed to an Abiola presidency can't be all that surprising. And we know that it's not an unrequited sentIment. We know our interests would be better protected under the leadership of a Northern extremist (bad as e bad) than a Yoruba man. Anyone who cared to think about it could have guessed how the Igbos would feel about that annulment, no soothsayer needed.

The point here is: did IBB annul the election for us? It was his executive decision after all and I doubt he would have based it on the sentiments of the Igbos (even if we had groveled on our knees all the way to Aso Rock). We were never cool like that.
