2 problems.

Engine mount: pull parking brakes have some one put car in drive and accelerate a little, with the bonnet open check for excessive movements of the engine, which should reveal the bad mount. Also check for breaks or tears in mount.

Idle speed. Remove throttle body and service idle speed valve, it might be stuck, due to build up of carbon deposits which might make your engine idle speed erratic. Pic of iavc .

hello Gazzuz,

Nice thread... please which OBD II scanner can I get for my 2004 4runner? I understand that some scanner that support CAN protocol (i.e Maxi scan MS509 OBD2 Scanner) might make some error light come up on the dashboard once it is connected to the OBD port. My car is not currently showing any error light, I just wanna scan it and see if anything is wrong.

kindly advise

Hi Gazzuzz, since I changed the OEM brake pads that came with my sienna 2002. I have replaced about 6-sets of brake pads (<N35K) and I keep hearing the squealing sound after just a few Miles of usage. What remedy do you propose to assist in solving this please.

What's the distance you have covered since first change? cause for all I know you might work for "EKENE DILI CHUKWU" grin

On a more serious note oem pads on my vehicle last about 15,000miles

If your brake rotors(disks) are bad (uneven surface) or your callipers are stiff(caused by rust), or your ABS pump is faulty (causing the callipers to hold when brake pedals are not pressed) then pads would wear out quick.
You would notice excessive heat in the front wheels if any of the factors I mentioned are happening.

Get to a good mechanic to have your problems checked out.

Gazzuz, your advice is needed here. I have been using my Toyota Corolla 03 for more than a year without changing the gear automatic transmission oil. I bought the car as a Naija used.

So far, there has not been any complaint. I have heard stories of cars whose gear won't select again after Changing their transmission oil. What is your take? And which oil will you advise? Thanks.

Like the humour in your post. To answer your questions, I drove with the OEM pad for about 8000-miles; bought the vehicle last year. The brake disks are even, no heat and no rusts. Like I said, I have changed the pads due to the squeals from the wheels. I will do more research on-line for a likely cause and keep you updated.

Please scan vehicle before replacing sensitive components.

Personally I think you should revert to your old part.

That's what they keep telling me but the mechanic can't find the part ...its now that I understand that technicians kill cars

This is just a 1.6 litre engine car the idiot couldn't fix it. The car is rugged and doesn't give problem apart from this ..which is the first problem

I will scan it but an injector specialist wanna look at it today

6 brake pads within one year and each one costing about 5k from your post. Oem pads should cost at least 10k for the front set, no?

Thank you for the number, I will call him, hope he is in lagos
