Looking forward to the cost process.

It's always seemed to be an unreasonable amount of effort when it can be done with fiberglass.

That is exactly what we have been looking for in the aluminium parapet...
If the precast can reduce cost, then I believe aluminium should do the same and drastically too..

1. Less Cost - from the poor people pocket (like me)
2. Less Weight - on the building
3. Beautiful Aesthetics

And Yes, fiberglass should be another alternatives that should be explored.
Nigeria does not embrace the alternatives that quickly.. everybody want their building to look like Baba Lagbaja.....

Well I'm going to take Baba Lagbajas house to the back yard and give it a goo thrashing. I willing to be the guniea pig and I just need a young vibrant Architect and builder to work with.

The very first structure that will go on my lot is a 20 foot container. As an example.

Sorry.. I don't mean glass per say... I mean fiber products period. It will look like plastic but much more stronger and can be molded.

Note: Look at the pictures below.. they are products made from Fiberglass. All they need to do is take measurement and style of the parapet and then mold it to fit with any color you like or even painted. And very light weight.

I don't blame you, we have to start exploring and bringing new ideas we have come across in our journey for the improvement of our country.
I am surely waiting for the implementation of the aluminium parapet and may be someday a fiber products parapets.

Imagine that! Gateman house for God sake! Alhaji should be different from our guys back home but I have to give him benefit of the doubt because I don't see Alhaji doing such thing. Construction of my house is currently going on in Nigeria and the engineer is a nairalander too. The guy was telling me about building a gateman house and I was surprised when he said it. I told him pointblank that I don't need such things. The guy was saying it like it is a must. Even billionaires in the U.S have no gatemen.
Re: Decking A Block Of Flats In Port Harcourt. by Empiree: 10:19pm On Jan 19, 2015
^^^ If you dont need it is fine. Why must you be compelled?. I dont get that. Sometimes it's disgusting but if you can handsomely spend substantial $$ on it, with good design like K1's gate house that''s cool. I really love that one.

I think Hajji, from readings on here, has sojourned in the US like me for a while, I really want to understand the decision process as I'm very curious.

We also have to define the purpose/requirement of the Gateman. Is he a security guard, a receptionist or just a manual gate opening device?
