boss1310: funny how the op mentioned drake, lamar and j.cole.definitely he don't know what real rap or in better terms hardcore rap means.listen to nas, mobb deep,q tip those are real ral and they don't sell.the drake's are commercial rappers so they are in the same categorie like ice prince may be in a higher level than him.i ve heard terry tha rapman lyrics, sakordie of ghana, mode nine.these guys can murder any mc with their verses.they are that good

you reply just indicated you are a minor.you know nothing about hip hop and the real rappers like the op said.real rap or hardcore rap started with N.W.A in compton, after the death of tupac and biggie real rap stopped being commercially successful because people erroneously see it as gangster songs.there are still real rappers today but they don't do well commercially you will mostly see them at rap battles.if you take j cole to be a real rapper then you dont know what real rap means so better pack your American-wannabe english cos you know nothing about it.nobody is telling you that j cole is not a good rapper i even like his songs including drake but any real rap song in their albums(if any)they don't do well commercially.
so read well b4 trying to copy an American curse word cos you aren't even good at it
oh! you are op am not surprised.i just schooled you

nothing academic about a fellow who use curse words on people who doesnt agree with their opinion.
when did i start listening to rap?
lets see do you even know of the N.W.A group i mentioned previously and you are talking about PAC?my dear PAC is a grand child compare to N.W.A or run-dmc they were there b4 him.kids like u only heard of rap when pac died i bet you dont know of terminator x.
as for the change you talked about its still a diffrent thing from a real rap to commercial rap.
let me school you more,in 50 cent's get rich or die trying album there are 5 real rap songs others are commercial.if you are yet to diffrentiate between a real rap and commercial rap then better switch over to fuji music and stop posting things you know nothing about

In the first place, was there anything like Hip Hop in Nigeria during the 20th century? No. So, Hip Hop is not facing extinction in Nigeria because it was never there prior to when Modenine et al showed up in the early 2000's. Ruggedman, Eadris etc, were not rappers, they were not doing Hip Hop but just "copy-cats" trying to sound Western. Modenine, Jesse Jagz, Erigga, and Overdose remains the only genuine/talented Hip Hop artistes in Nigeria, in fact, they are the ones trying to "introduce" the Hip Hop culture in Nigeria. Modenine complained few years ago that Hip Hop is "alien" to Nigerians, and I think he was right. All we know is dance to useless "party songs" that have no tangible lyrics while ignoring talented artistes like Modenine. Vector, M.I., Phyno, Olamide etc, are also not Hip Hop artistes in my opinion, they are clowns!
