For real!!!

Banking can be monotonous and very very routine-ish...but it pays well. Keep ur azz in there if u dont have anything else to do. Do alot of research & market survey if you intend to go into biz so u know the pros & cons...dat way, u avoid unnecessary loss...

Bros, if you think quiting your job is good for you, then go ahead. But make sure you have something in mind to venture into. Make sure you have enough money to venture into what you have in mind. For you to say that you want to quit your job, then i guess the work is over-stressing you. Here's an example of what am saying:
I worked in a bakery factory years ago, but due to low salary i decide to quit. And that was the best move i made. I started a blog at www.naijanews.pun.bz and also went into internet marketing, and today i've never regreted it.

Guy, don't drag me to that your contract something.

Marketers are core staff and any marketer who is a contract staff is known as a marketing assistant...

The areas where you find enough contract staff in banks are the cash and tellering units, office admin, IT specialist and security.

Don't emphasize what you don't know for sure..

So your bank manager was a contract staff ?

No wonder, you were sacked from "Igboanugo" community bank...

See as you leave topic come dey ask me useless questions..

What a reason for wanting to quit a job in this period of serious unemployment. Do you know there are millions of unemployed out there? If you must quit ensure you have a better job, or at least reasonable capital to run a business of your own.
Re: I Want To Quit My Banking Job by 2scorehigh(m): 5:26pm On Jul 14, 2014
Here, you have my support.

Quit immediately! Listen to your inner self. It's the universe calling. It wants to have a new experience through you.

Don't listen to the fear mentality being peddled so freely here. No one is you. That's why they don't understand what it means to be totally dissatisfied.

That is why they are telling you to stick to a job where you live in your office and visit your home. Over what? Over the money that you won't even have the time to enjoy.

Use that same fear to your advantage. Maybe its time for you to bring out or exploit some other facets of you. I mean your latent skills and talents.

You might be the next big musician, public speaker, writer, software developer, actor, comedian, blogger, etc. in the making, who knows?

There are more than one ways to earn money so don't hold yourself back!

Trust me, you will be so much happier knowing that you tried rather than seating behind your table or cubicle in the office wishful thinking - and regretting!

If the worst comes to the worst, you know you already have the banking experience so that should count should you want to go back to the banking gig someday.

Goodluck brother.

Mr. Mahmud,

As long as you don't have an alternative, sit your butt there otherwise leave the industry cos it's no longer interesting.

As much as I'm not enjoying it anymore, it pays the bill. I've been @ it for almost 7yrs & I'm about to leave to the oil & gas industry as a product trader. Banking has no added value outside its walls. Most of my superiors that left are not doing well.

So true..

You have to be a streetwise businessman to survive outside its walls. It doesn't give you any experience about buying, selling, trading or merchandising..

But I fail to understand why after all the big grammar and trainings they drill people through, bankers act as mumu outside the walls of a bank. Now I know bankers don't even know the value of the money they handle. They cant create that money, the system has already been structured for them to fit into a division of labour unit and get paid a piece of the pie at month end. That's true.. A business is a total unit made up of sub units which an average banker cannot build because he was only introduced to customer facing unit of banking.

Elumelu and Jim should know better..

Smartsyn: Doing what you like is freedom, loving what you do is happiness.

If you not happy with what you do , quit. But check if you have viable alternative, or regret will be your surname
does not apply in nigeria....i mean your first words...hmmm..

My brother, I was a banker and I quit without any advice. No one will advise you to quit your job and divorce your wife no matter how terrible you finds both.

So, I believe you are matured enough to add one and one to get two. Banking job nowadays is just like hell especially when you are in marketing.

What I did was to finish building my house and did my savings. I already knew that I was entitled to gratuity which I believe will assist me while looking for another job. Thank God I just got a new job last week. So try to be as careful as possible because joblessness too is another story to tell.

i quit my banking job this year for similar reasons (i don't live in Nigeria though so perhaps its a different situation). got moved to marketing, i wasn't bringing in Jack and honestly i don't really enjoying interacting with people or begging them to give me (the bank) their money. over here business is generally kinda slow and things are a little more relaxed in the sense that even if you don't bring in much or perform very well the chances of getting fired are slim to zero so i decided on my own that since neither the bank nor i were getting what we bargained for then i would excuse myself.

dunno how Nigeria works exactly but O.P i'd say save and get out of there without looking back if you feel like your life is draining away. follow your dreams mann.
