Was his death going to be pasted on anybody or group other than BH? The same BH that has killed or kidnapped people whose potential far surpass any achievement of the revered General. Do all Nigerians love and respect him? Why have they continued to deny him?
Is Nigeria that fragile to degenerate because of death of one man? I thank God he did not die but has he been a force for unity of Nigeria? Talk of assassinated Generals like Ironsi, Murtala and Bisalla yet Nigeria stands. What about are fathers that we wasted or frustrated till death? People like Sardauna, Akintola, Balewa, Okigbo, OJUKWU, Nzeogwu and others. On the contrary I think that if the worst had happened to Buhari (thank ALLAH it did not) more people would have been rejoicing atleast in private - than would have been found crying in the streets,

Looking at the effusively biased comments emanating from individuals on this tread, there need not be any empirical evidence to prove that Nigeria is very far from attaining her deliverance from those that trouble her. Even if God were to personally send a messiah to salvage what is left of this beleaguered landscape, such a messiah would, no doubt, be more weary and afraid of ethno-religious zealots in Nigerians than s/he will be of the hydra-headed problems s/he would confront. When we fail to realize that neither Buhari nor Jonathan is the sole problem of Nigeria; when we fail to realize that backwardness, underdevelopment, corruption, total disregard for the human person, abject poverty, bomb blast, etc, do not tribe and tongue discriminate - our freedom from all the evil that easily beset us is nothing but an endless mirage.

According to Gen. Buhari he described that as an assassination attempt on his life. As far as I know anyone who executes an assassination on another man is an Assassin, and assassins as we all know are highly skilled and perfect executionists. If indeed they intended to assassinate him which I doubt in this case, how did they miss?
A group that has highly sophisticated weaponry in their arsenal that produced multiple damages in recent years will never miss a simple assignment given to them.
Buhari should jus spare us this bullshit abeg we no be fools 4 dis country.

Had we lost the General, the reaction from his supporters and fanatics could easily have plunged Nigeria into its worst chaos in a long time.

Nigeria is a land of the absurd, the strange and the illogical. So last Wednesday, General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) organized to kill himself? Well, that is what those who see Nigeria through the lens of the 2015 elections want us to believe. There are many things wrong with politics and politicians in Nigeria but General Buhari is well and truly above that. Even his opponents admit he is well and truly above board when it comes to the shame and corruption that accompany Nigerian politics. There was clearly a suicide bomber and the bomber was obviously desperate to ensure the retired General was part of his eventual carnage. The incident has since happened, scores have died and Nigerians in their usual way have moved on. Had we lost the General, the reaction from his supporters and fanatics could easily have plunged Nigeria into its worst chaos in a long time.

We have a problem on our hands as terrorists continue not just to maim and kill but to set us against one another. Following each terrorist attack are the accusations and counter accusations. “They know only Igbos sell in that market, so they chose that market to bomb of all places in the north,” is a classic response from a bomb blast that ripped through Kano in northern Nigeria. It did not matter to the person who wrote the words that there is no way anyone would bomb a public place in Kano and not kill more northerners. Even if we took for granted that only a particular ethnic group sells wares in a selected Kano market, should we also assume all the customers and buyers are from the same place? When bombs go off in a church, you are likely to read, “this people are only killing Christians, it is a war against Christians.” You are not likely to read anything from such people when a Mosque gets attacked or when the insurgents kill a revered Islamic scholar. Those who see the world through their bias often times do not see it through the eyes of logic. So they are not likely to remember than bombs are not capable of separating people into ethnic or religious groups, bombs kill and maim everyone within the radius of impact.

That is the same logic to apply when someone like General Buhari survives a major attack that had his vehicles destroyed. That if the terrorists could strike right at a point where one of the nation’s could easily have been killed, they can get anyone. If they missed a major Islamic cleric by a matter of minutes and have killed some other ones, they certainly do not discriminate in terms of their intent; they want to kill anyone not open supportive of their evil and they are not afraid to go after high profile targets just as they kill the poor every other day if not everyday in the northeast.

We need a bi-partisan approach to the war on terror. We are of course not likely to get it soon if someone as highly involved as the minister of state could share an article link claiming one of the major opposition parties is supportive of Boko Haram. This is despite the fact that Boko Haram predates the party by at least 10 years. How can we have a bi-partisan approach to this war if politicians across the board insist on making this more about the 2015 elections than about what it is; a war on our country, our people and our way of life?

And if politicians insist on making it political all the time, what is the role of citizens and civil society? If the numbers get crunched, Nigeria’s poor masses have suffered a lot more in the hands of terrorism. The least we can do is to stop echoing the voices of those who insist on making this about politics and nothing else.

bushdoc9919: Before I make my comment....a disclaimer.

I am not here to argue for a Buhari Presidency, a Northern presidency,or a PDP continuation...nor am I here to insult anyone's tribe or religion.

The truth of the matter is that those who argue that Buhari is behind the bombs....including the attack on his convoy....are doing so because they do not want a Northerner in power. Some do it because of bitterness against percieved injustices by the North over the years...and yes, they have happened....see the recent 2011 violence...and so far no one has been brought to justice. But the real argument is for a continued enjoyment of Southern power.

And those who argue that the govt is culpable do so out of bitterness that the North has gotten a raw deal from the govt. That they are not feeling the govt, that they are being discriminated and losing their rights. And so on.

The truth of the matter is that both conspiracy theorists are WRONG. Yes,a lot of bombs have gone off....but despite the brutal attacks on chrurches....there have been brutal attacks on public places....and Muslims as well as Christians have died. And suffered. (Keep in mind that the CHibok girls were not the only girls kidnapped up north....hundreds of other girls have been taken by Boko...and most of em are Muslim). It must be noted that attacks on churches have been prevented....in Imo, for example.

So, Boko is making everyone suffer. Yet, because of our idea that leadership is about sharing money at the top....not about using your available resources to achieve development.....we make every disadvantage a means of tribal argument. Thus the ridiculous theories flying around.....that Buhari is responsible for the attack on himself (an attack which might have left him dead...if not from the bullets from the shock)...or that GEJ is responsible for the attack.(which he isn't....GEJ is not so foolish as to orchestrate an attack that would lead to more instability and destruction on a wide scale).

In my opinion, I am thankful that we are going through the fire...because as any goldsmith will tell you...fire is good for purging out the impurities. You see....Boko is showing Nigerians for who we are.We are a heartless, morally bankrupt people. Or tell me which kind of people would accuse....without proof....their president of orchestrating violence to keep himself in power. Or which kind of people would accuse an opposition leader....one who in a past career fought against Islamist milltants...and had to cope with them as head of State...of orchestrating violence that has killed hundreds of his core support. And the annoying thing is that both allegations are made without proof. Indeed I am scared to be a Nigerian....because someone can accuse me now of evil and millions will believe it. What kind of people are we? That we easily believe lies?

What we need to do now is unite against Boko(short term). But long term, we need to change our ideas about development. We need to stop thinking that development is all about how much oil money we get....(hey,let'sbe honest....all this argument is about who gets to share oil money at Aso Rock) and from the state level start using what we have to make products that we can market for income. One reason why I am opposed to resource control....even though it would benefit me....is because Nigerians are arguing for resource control based on the idea that more money to share amongst ourselves= development. And that money would be used not for development...but to import and import stuff we would pose with....rather than invest in science, technology and industrial innovation to produce more permanent jobs...and to make education more attractive....even for the most fanatical. Yes, we are using Boko to argue for more oil money....even threatening secession so that we can enjoy the oil money....or unity so that we never lose sight of oil money to share. Infact, Nigerians are so backward that we really do not deserve the oil money. Infact,if I was president...I would cut each and every state allowances by 50% and use the money to guarantee free education, power and health....and transport infrastructure...and leave the states to use their resources to develop.

So Nigerians....stop lying against Buhari, PDP, Chibok, etc. This crisis isn't about your right to more oilmoney....or whether you feel cheated. Let us untie toghether....and develop not only a strong security infrastructure....but a strong industrial structure...so that we can have jobs and an end to the environment that fosters Boko Haram. And lets stop lying. Yes you may not like Buhari or PDP....but that isno excuse to lie against them. We have a serious problem....and there is no time for petty tribalism-driven internet wars.

P.S....If you have been reading...and want to respond...feel free....but any insults would be reported to the mods. I am sorry....but I do not appreciate people using the languages of the fo./.wl species.

God bless you.

So, someone in this Nigeria can write an article so skewed and still want to be taken seriously.

When Nasir El-Rufai suggested that President Jonathan was behind the 'assassination' plot on Rtd Major General Muhammadu Buhari, this clownish looking fellow didn't write any article condemning the nonsense.

When they butchered an RCCG clergyman, this modern day 'consensus builder' didn't find his voice.

Not until his 'General' was visibly rattled by those he (the so-called General) had previously told us were driven by hunger, poverty and injustice, did he found his computer keyboard in Berlin to write rubbish.

It doesn't even matter to this attention seeker that scores of Nigerians died in that attack on Buhari. All that counts for Omojuwa is the life of his 'General'.

If there is anyone to direct any missive at, especially because of that unfortunate tragedy, is it not Buhari himself who was clamouring an amnesty programme for Boko Haram who have carried out mass murder of innocent Nigerians?

Is it not time to tell Buhari to stop supporting Boko Haram?

Ayatollah Buhari Bin Laden should be encouraged to commit suicide as a patriotic public service. Virtually at the drop of a hat, the pathetic scare-crow of a girlie-man bawls, wails, sobs, moans and ululates like a rabid maniac each time he is roundly defeated and vanquished in a presidential election.

Thus, a humane and expedited death would enable Ayatollah Buhari's tortured soul to rest in the laps of those 72 virgins in Paradise as soon as possible, which would of course be far preferable to any further perpetuation of the unmitigated pain and anguish that former tyrant has undergone during and after all of Nigeria's most recent 7 presidential elections that saw the perennially sore loser trounced and unceremoniously mopped on the toilet floor over and over again.

Please let Ayatollah Buhari Bin Laden of the Boko Haram terror fame chose the manner of his death in peace, so that the goats and chickens roaming the court-yard of his desert home can obtain closure from knowing that Boko Hari is worm-bait at long last, and will no longer sneak around trying to grapple and bugger them on moonlit nights.

FILEBE: There was was a clip i watched on TVC about Buhari thanking GOD after the blast. He was dressed in plain white Agbada pacing and throwing hands in the ear for joy while some passersby were shouting his name. this clip was taken by someone via his mobile phone amd was really unstable.
i've just had d chance to view d video once and it leaves more questions than answers. if anyone also saw that video too maybe you can tell me what you think. A man who just survived a bomb attack wont still be there few minutes after the blast. His securities would first advise him to evacuate the scene lest there is another blast. - just my thinking o.
pardon my writings. i dey hang for BRT dey type this. no time o,me sef wan make point. ;-)
How many seconds did that video last?
Buhari left the scene the moment a vehicle was made available by locals. Would he have disappeared like a spirit?

They don't pluck bullet proof cars from trees and people are not born with it. The mere knowledge that one is using a bullet proof car alone has compromised the security in the car. You don't know nothing about Buhari. If Asari Dokubo knew this he would have used another method to assassinate the general.
