I normally avoid threads like these because they are mischief-driven effort started by bigoted Nairalanders "don't care about Lagos" and have nil interest in seeing progress anywhere in the SW. Yet from the way you have spoken reasonably it is obvious there are many Nigerians out there who genuinely want progress report on these laudable and much-awaited projects.

The long and short of it is that virtually all these projects, and many others like the cable car transport line, will be driven by private sector funding and expertise in a PPP arrangement between Lagos State and investors who are willing to plough their cash into these and other infrastructural development project which require vast sums of money Lagos does not have. Lagos has led innovatively via using the PPP path to bypass an indolent and fruitless reliance on an ultra-corrupt FG that has fallen ridiculously behind with its own infrastructural responsibility to Nigeria let alone be relied upon to assist Lagos with these projects which are vital for the whole of Nigeria.

As such, one would expect every Nigerian to look forward to the actualisation of these superb large-scale projects instead of this "enemy within' antics we see, day in day out, from OP and his likes who do not view themselves as Nigerians and only live to antagonise others they hate with clannish zeal.

The fact is that these projects are delayed because they are entirely reliant on Lagos attracting and securing the right type and number of investors who will support these plans with their cash and expert skills. Fashola himself has stated this many times while these god-forsaken mischief-makers continue to dance around gleefully as if it is a State in a Country that is the enemy of Nigeria they are talking about. Sensible Nigerians , into progress and cognisant of what these projects mean for Nigeria and even the West African corridor, would be behind these ambitious and superlative plans that will be 'game-changers' for our entire Nation .

Any balanced person will realise that, unlike many abandoned FG-led projects with billions sunk in already, these projects are PPP arrangement with the burden of financing and even development on the private sector. Till solid investments is on ground, adequately mobilised and ready to go, with every legality tied up, then these kind of delays are entirely understandable. Lagos continues to do its preparatory work. Stanbic IBTC Bank has been appointed sole financial adviser to the Lagos State government on the proposed Lekki-Epe International Airport project to be



developed on a modular basis at an estimated project cost of N71.64bn ($450 million) in its first phase.

Situated about 10km from Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ), the proposed airport will boost economic activities at the LFTZ scheduled to begin full operations in 2012. It will also drive urban development and tourism in the Lekki-Epe axis of Lagos State.

A scalable airport that will be designed to cater for the Airbus A380, making it a Code F compliant airport, the Lekki-Epe International Airport is expected to commence operations with a conservative capacity of two million passengers per annum, reaching five million passengers by 2015.

Commenting on the airport project, Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic IBTC Bank, Sola David-Borha, said the project reinforces the bank’s long standing partnership with the Lagos State Government in the area of infrastructure development, which is informed by the knowledge that infrastructure is the foundation on which socio-economic development is built.

As part of the competitive tender process for the construction of the Lekki-Epe International Airport, Stanbic IBTC Bank has made available Request for Pre-Qualification (RFPQ) to 33 Nigerian and international firms who have indicated interest to participate in the ambitious project.

The companies had earlier submitted Expression of Interest (EOI) in August 2011, bidding for the project under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

The RFPQ provides the bidding companies with guidelines for the submission of a Statement of Qualification (SOQ) which highlights their technical, operational and financial capability to design, finance, build and operate the Lekki-Epe International Airport, before its transfer to Lagos State Government at the expiration of the concession period.

NAHCO Aviance, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Arab Contractors Nigeria Limited and Cappa D’Alberto Plc, are among the 20 Nigerian companies that have been provided with the Request for Pre-Qualification.

They will compete against 13 international firms that includes Munich Airport Germany, Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co Limited and Canadian Commercial Corporation, among others, for the development of the first phase of airport project.

Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Mr. Suleiman Omar, has said Ibaka Deep Seaport would start receiving ocean liners in 2015, [/b]just as Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has issued NPA a Certificate of Occupancy, C of O, for the over 5580Sq metres of land area for the new port.
Akpabio assured that all infrastructures needed to fast-track the early completion of the port will be provided.
They both spoke at a brief event to mark the official hand over of the C of O in Abuja, Monday.
Akpabio also pledged to award contract for the dualisation of the port main access road to link the East-West road.
